So i welcome another new addition to my RC fleet the Maverick STRADA MT. I have always liked the look of this truck so thought why not? They are not mega expensive so worth a try.
I was pleasantly surprised at how capable the truck feels the only issue i had was the battery mount and how limited you are with which batteries you can run.
Will be doing some upgrades and tuning on this in the coming weeks and possibly a brushless conversion of some sort.
Might even be a laugh to stick a 4s setup in this and see what we can achieve.

Thank you for the review. You have a simple solution to install the LiPo battary. You need to unscrew the racks and add a metallic washer under it and screw it back. It will lift the racks up and it will not be any problems with any battary. I did it on my car and this works perfect.

Regarding the battery placement issue, brother, this is what makes our hobby exciting. Do not get annoyed. There are thousands of ways to modify it. Cable ties, velcro as you mentioned, cable wires, etc. Bash on, more power to you brother. 💪

I bought this model along with a phantom xt, after i saw your review!. very powerful on 2s, nice wheels also! As a minus, missing adjusters for servo and trqnsmitter..

Nice to see someone cover the lower budget trucks ,nice review. I reckon you should cover the maverick quantum flux mt when it gets released , be interesting to see how it compares to the strada version . Keep up the good work !!
I have seen pics of the quantum flux and for the price being 3s capable it seems like a steal. Definitely something I would be interested in doing cheers for the suggestion 👍

@@beyondRC the steering servo was set up wrong from manufacturers, and stripped plastic servo horn, ordered new servo and aluminium arm on Amazon hopefully arrives today

Nice video man. I´m getting the brushless version next month. A minor complaint on the sound in the vid, your voice is recorded quite low but the music is extremely loud when it comes in. You might think about either raising the volume of your voice recording or lowering the music volume. Subbed!

Bought this last week, with a lipo 2s and additional charger, i love it so far, the stock battery only lasts about 10mins, but the lipo gives me about 20mins. I really wanna get more run time, as i love playing with this thing. This is my first since i was a child, and kinda wanna get into the hobby more.
Great trucks I love mine and recently converted to 4s as a bit of a project just awaiting parts as stripped a spur almost instantly on 4s! Will see how we go with it but I do love it. Cheers for the sub and comment about the audio this is one of my older vids I'm slowly ironing out all the issues never done CZcams before so all new to me!
@@beyondRC I just watched the conversion and test video, it's all new to me. Audio was defo better on that one. I've just emailed modelsport to ask about upgrading my battery and charger.
Nice i run absima 3s 4000mah and overlander 2s 5300mah plus a bunch of turnigy batteries and floureon my charger is years old turnigy accucel 6 nothing special not dual charging or anything like that just plain and simple and works. Glad the audio is better I do take the comments on board! Want this to work out so I love feedback 👍
Also forgot to say be careful about running different batteries in the strada the stock battery tie down is not good i got rid of it and use velcro now so I'm not limited to the size of battery I can run very easy and simple mod again it was covered in the actual conversion vid! Just velcro, to the base & side... No cutting needed, just double sided tape or glue

I had the same issue with the battery mounts and changed them to alloy body posts, i can basically use any size of battery now.
Exactly I think its because they expect nothing but the stock nimh pack to be used which is why they aren't longer. Easily remedied though 👍😁
@@beyondRC Yes i thought that too, they're made for the battery that's supplied. Changing the posts for longer ones is cheap and easy enough though, and it saves cutting or modding the chassis.
Thanks for the review, I'm on the brink of buying this as my next truck after getting into this a couple of weeks ago with a WLToys 144001. Was that a 2S LiPo you couldn't fit in? What are the dimensions of the battery bay?
Good choice on the 144001 I like those a lot and they look good! It was a 2s lipo it fit into the battery bay the issue was securing it down the standard mounts are not long enough it's like maverick thought the user would only be using the stock nimh and not anything else. I have since replaced those with velcro straps and on the 4s conversion video coming tomorrow you will see that. Also it might be worth waiting for their latest lineup the quantum series which is due for release end of july which updates the entire design and for £159 comes with a 3s brushless setup as standard 👍
@@beyondRC Ooh now! I've just had a look at the Quantum Flux range and they do look good. It is going to put me into a quandary though as I will struggle to choose between monster truck or truggy as they both look tasty. I love the look of truggies (and I really like the look of this one) and I'm probably mostly going to use the park for my adventures so i imagine it will have better handling for this. However I do also like the monster truck for its I-can-go-anywhere-ness. Sadly, my side of town doesn't have good off-road trails for a monster truck to shine :(

Thanks for the video. Can we use 2s lipo battery without modification? (except to make it not fall down). I'm about to buy one for my 14 years old son. Do you think it's a good choice. He wants "a big one"

I was wondering if you know what the minimum discharge rate is for lipo batteries on this model from standard? I'm about to receive mine but don't want to stuff it up.
I used to run 20c discharge lipos without an issue now running 55c overlanders!

Hi, I just got the brushless version and it also comes with a NiMH battery. If I want to put a 3s lipo in it, do I have to change anything on the truck or I can just swap the batteries and not worry about it?
brushless ESC should be 3s compatible out the box. Best thing to do is check the ESC specs in manual! Cheers

😁😁 My 8 Yr old wants an rc like daddy's for Xmas haha I have a granite voltage on 3s but thinking this to get him started will be perfect and I Could upgrade him to 2s brushless in the future
Would be ideal another one to consider in the same price range would be the team corally triton is a huge amount of fun being 2wd and very durable!

Yes you can the esc accepts lipo just make sure you move the jumper from nimh to lipo jt will show you how in the manual or low voltage cut off wont work

I now have this exact model at home finally, bought another 4000 NiMH and 4600 NiMH on top, with a fast charger in the mail already. Nice beginner truck! And that even on stock setup! I guess I will later convert it to 2s LiPo to get a bit more punch and battery life, but for now me and the kids we are a happy pack!

Yes i will! I used to only run nitro about 10 years ago! I do have a soft spot for electric these days because there is less maintenance but i do miss nitro so will have get a nitro on the channel. Any recommendations for a decent nitro?
@@beyondRC my recommendations for budgets would be an exceed forza equipped with a vx 18 engine, an HSP nitro rc car, or anything redcat racing

Lets be honest. This model is utter shite. Don't buy it. Cheap plastic that bends and flexes that causes all the metal part to bend. Servo saver is a joke, terrible turnning circle, radio is poo. I got the brushless version for my boy, its been a shelf queen for the majority of its life. And it looks like Camilla, not Diana. Honking
