- Jim Caviezel, who played Jesus in The Passion of the Christ, gives a heartfelt talk on how Mary interceded for him during his Hollywood career, and how she can intercede for peoples of all nations in these difficult times, dominated so much by the mass media culture.
This talk was given at the “Eucharistic Holy Hour for World Peace Through the Mother of All Peoples" in Amsterdam on June 1st, 2019 at the RAI Convention Center, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Haarlem-Amsterdam, Netherlands.

I went to highschool with Jim at Kennedy Catholic and knew him. He was a really nice guy who had maturity beyond his years.

Many actors/superstars are shy to even mention God or faith in the Holy Bible. Jim is brave to show his faith in the Lord God and Savior of our lives. He is a good and great example of our Christian community. He is a good influence on our Catholic Church. God bless him and I just salute him. Amen🙏

I'm a Catholic convert and for me, the idea of praying to Mother Mary was a hurdle I had a hard time with at first. I purchased a rosary at a local Catholic book store, and went to the chapel at my Church one day to see if I could actually do this. There was no one there but me and the Blessed Sacrement on a small marble alter. It took me a while to get started, but after awhile it felt right. It was not much different than the idea of "Communion with the Saints"only better. I was praying for The Mother of our Lord to please intercede for me and my family and the Church. Other than Jesus what better advocate could we have?!! Thanks Jim for all you're doing to promote the Gospel and the story of Christ! You're an awesome actor and I pray you are richly blessed for all you do!
Wow! What a moving and powerful testimony! With every Rosary, our Lady takes us by the hand and leads us to her Divine Son, our Savior. We are so blessed to have recourse to Our Lord's Mother!
i at times also worry about how much adoration I give Mary, she is not mentioned in the bible and we are not to worship anyone but Jesus Christ. I have been to Medjugorje twice now and it is powerful for sure. But people contest me about my worshiping the mother and praying to her statue and the beads etc. I am so glad to hear this from Jim it helps me.

A beautiful testimony. I thank Our Blessed Mother for 20 years of sobriety, my return to the faith, return to the seminary. I have been a priest now for 12 years and thank her every day for the grace and protection her hand affords. What a beautiful life she has given me. It could have been so different. Praise Jesus.

Well...actually, Mel Gibson has wandered away from the TRUE Church now.
Although he still considers himself to be a Catholic in good standing, sadly he's not faithful to the teachings of the Magisterium of the Church on a few issues now. Keep him in prayer!
@@mas_79 He has his own "Priests and liturgy," not following the rubrics of the Church. There's a bit of information you could search for on the internet.
Also, he divorced his wife due to an affair he had and has not filed for an annulment...but yet still lives with the woman.
That alone is mortal sin...as I'm sure you know.
He is one of my favorite actors so I find this very disheartening. I will always pray for him.

@@theresaperez313 Mel, Jim, and anyone else who were involved in getting this movie seen by the world need our prayers, because imagine the pressure the evil one would be putting on Mel and anyone that has such an influence on the world. He has buckled under the pressure obviously. Hopefully he will come to his senses, and realise that Satan's fingerprints are all over his current situation. It will be an enormous test for him if he wants to make a sequel.

I feel those in MOST need are our priests. They have the fiercest battle against evil because without the priest there is no Mass.
And I'll quote Saint Padre Pio; "The world can exist without the sun but not without the Mass." No Mass= no life!

His almost crying is because the holy spirit was all over him. He is one person that I can say is filled with the holy spirit. God is using him in a very powerful way, and I'm glad he is obedient to the spirit. I pray continued favor, blessings and protection over him and his family.
I too consecrated myself to Jesus and the Blessed Mother. I was on my Covid bed, suffering from two bouts of pneumonia. Not only was I fortunate and blessed with prayers from strangers, friends and family, I was blessed every night at 2:30 AM with a touch on my shoulder. Rolling over expecting to see a Dr. or nurse, nobody was there, yet every morning I woke to a touch at 2:30 AM, feeling a hand on my shoulder. The blessing were real, the prayers offered and said, were answered and I am consecrated to Jesus and the Blessed Mother Along with my children and wife. God bless you all.

I am so humbled by the grace I see in Jim Caveizel . I am fearfully doing 33 day course of St. Louis de Montfort to consecrate myself to Mary and I am afraid to jump in because I feel unworthy and afraid of making promises I can’t keep or afraid of the suffering it may cause. It makes me wonder if it’s just a coincidence that I came upon this video. Mother Mary, I am reaching out to you!

If I go to a job interview 20 miles from my house, I drive my car there & I end up getting the job, I can say the car helped get me the job. Just like that, Mary is co-Redemptorix only because of God. The Holy Spirit could've easily chosen to leave Mary (and Jesus' childhood) out of the Bible, but God in his infinite wisdom wanted to share in some part the work of redemption.

this message tonight while i worry about world peace, my soul, intrusive thoughts, i know i should do the Rosary right now and should put all other distractions aside.
So amazing that this young man is called to be an "actor" but then, God does such amazing things through the young to confound the rest of us. An actor who takes our hearts to heaven in the role of God Himself! He is placed on such a high pedestal that he is given the "words" to convict our hearts and souls. How I wish our priests and deacons were so in love with Jesus that they would speak with such deep conviction and truth to help souls on the journey to our homeland.
Thank you Jim, you for being an authentic Roman Catholic, and for humbly admitting that it's not easy to follow the will of God that is why we need the Blessed Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ her son.

Stardust Girl - Pope is not used in the Bible but then where in the Bible does it say that the Bible is the only source of doctrine? 1 Tim 3:15 says the Church is the Pillar and the foundation of truth. So the Bible points to the Church and not to itself as the ultimate authority. "Bible only" mentality is a human tradition started in 1517.

Any power Mary has comes from Christ. We Catholics do not believe she is a deity. We praise Mary as being God's greatest work through grace. So praising her is a praise of Christ.

@@traditionalcatholic4275 I love Mary for being Jesus mother. Jesus has no CO-Redeemer. Jesus alone is our Advocate. Jesus taught us there is no other path to the Father but HIM. The Mother of Jesus would never want the worship or adoration taken from God the Father and poured on her.
@@battmannt Asking Mary for prayers does not bypass Jesus. It is Catholic belief that she goes to Him interceding for us. So He is still in the loop and everything depends on Him.
Regarding Co-Redeemer, it is Catholic belief that Jesus is the one Redeemer and does not need anyone to add to his act of redemption on the cross. He is God, after all, and how can anyone else add anything to it? Yet, apparently God has decided to leave room for human participation in this redeeming act Colossians 1:24 “Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.” Of course, there is nothing lacking in the absolute sense but God wants our participation.
This is also seen where Jesus wants us to pick up our crosses and follow Christ's footsteps (Matthew 16:24). Mary just did this in an exemplary way, suffering as only a mother can when seeing her innocent son dying a cruel death as criminal. So this is the doctrine of Mary being Coredemptrix with Christ (feminine form of co-redeemer) which actually is not definitively declared by the Church, but Popes and Cardinals have affirmed it in less formal terms.
As you can see we are not making Mary into a God by calling her co-redeemer.

Yes I do believe every word dear Jim Caviezel. We need to pray the Rosary everyday if our lives. I was saved along with my brothers and sisters and our neighbors from a serious accident when as usual my mother called us to say the Angeles followed by the Rosary. We just entered the house when we heard a loud noise outside. When we looked outside we saw a car overturned on the very spot we we all playing. Praise to Jesus, Mary and Joseph we were all saved that evening. Here I am 75 years still recalling that day. I try saying all the 4 Rosaries and recalling the life of our Lord Jesus 🙏 . It's time the whole world receive Holy Eucarist, say the Rosary pray and fast and do penance for the world is in great sin.Let us all pray the Rosary.

I think this man is very courageous. I know that being Catholic makes you unsexy, uncool and peasent like. At least this is how the sexy, 'beautiful' & intelligent people of the modern world would have you believe. I know this because I am Catholic. I get called names, ostrisized and ridiculed for the abuses done by priests as if I were personally responsible. I have tried to reason many times but only to be outsmarted. With all that said I absolutely believe that Jesus Christ went through massive fear, anxiety, ridicule, torture and horrid death to prove his love for me. Then the most brilliant thing to have ever happened. He rose from the dead. So now I don't mind the ridicule so much. I am so happy to have my faith.
This actor is living in a world that hates Christianity and Catholicism even more so. I admire him so much as he is not quiet about his faith and it inspires me to be like him.

When I went to see this movie from our church group, I went through a whole box of tissues! There was not one dry eyes in the movie, JC portrail of Jesus was very real, I see Jesus, on the cross, and all the suffering he went through just to save us! And my neighbor said I know what happened from a Bible , but seeing it really made my faith that much stronger! God bless you JC a real man and catholic too!

The story that Jim told about his faith and love he has for the Blessed Mother Mary made me cry. More men are needed to proclaim their love for Mary. The Rosary is a powerful weapon. I, too, carry my Rosary with me all the time, and I say all 5 decades every day.

Yes Mary needed a savior and this is firmly upheld by the Catholic Church and always was. But she was saved by being preserved from original sin in virtue of His future sacrifice on Calvary. Jesus is God and can do that because He is master of all including time. It is fitting that He would do it to honor His mother (fulfilling the commandments). So he did it.
Hi Ben. I've just looked up Luke Chapter 2 and your quote isn't there. I've just found the words of Mary in Luke 1:47 where she says that her spirit has rejoiced in God her Saviour. There is no reference in SCRIPTURE to her admitting that she is a sinner. She simply rejoices. The reason why she rejoices is because she knows that her Son's future sacrifice enabled her to be born sinless and be worthy to bear the Son of God. Her Immaculate Conception was a gift from God to her, the fruit of His redemption ahead of time. It is a mystery, but one of love. He also needed a mother to come into this world and he needed an Immaculate mother. That is why Mary was conceived sinless. Not for herself but for God's mission. She knows this and openly acknowledges this in her own words to Elizabeth. We should rejoice in God's love for her and we should never question Gods decisions. Also remember Satan is THE ENEMY! Gen 3:15 I will put enmity between you and THE WOMAN. This woman is Mary and HER SEED is OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST! They work together to defeat Satan who is a liar and a murderer from the beginning. Words of Jesus himself. JESUS LOVES his mother and so should we. And be thankful to her for bringing Jesus into the world. Without her consent we would not have Jesus and without the sacrifice of her son on calvary we would have no redemption. She is Our Heavenly Mother too and Jesus gave her as a gift to us as he hung in the cross. She loves us all very very much and wants to be our mother also. God bless.

@Monica Merino Dear Monica, I share this with you in a simple way. We don't worship Mary, we honor her. Scripture tells us: Jesus gave Mary to us to be our spiritual Mother.
Imagine for a moment: Mary gave birth to the Son of God - she raised Him (the Son of God), she walked with Him to Calvary 'to the Cross'- she watched him suffer (a horrific suffering) & she watched Him die & she held His body in her arms. Do you see her suffering? Don't you think He loved His earthly mother very much? We can pray to Jesus and we can also go through Mary. I was very moved watching the Passion of the Christ --- the actress who played Mary brought me to tears, I was crying & didn't want to leave (loose the moment of the 'personal experience') I stayed for alittle while (there were others who stayed as well).
Mary is the Mother of the Catholic Church. If you can see her as Jesus earthly Mother & in times of struggle go to her - without asking her to intercede for you - it may bring you closer to her. It's a beginning...
Mary wants to bring us closer to Jesus, to help us to love Him more than we are capable in our 'human nature'. Do we love Him to the degree in which He showed his Love for us - *dying for us*/for our salvation? Does that sound like worshiping her?

Bless this man. He has lived his faith and in doing so, brought millions of people to Christ. I also remember his small but hilarious turn in G.I. Jane. My life has completely changed since I started praying the Rosary everyday. And my rosary is from medjugorje that someone had just brought back and felt that they needed to give it to me. I was just in the beginning of my reversion and working in tile with my brother, and the rosary was made out of stone from medjugorje, and that meant a lot to me because of working with my brother.

Pray always, and when you feel the darkness creeping up say, “Lord Jesus Christ Son of God have mercy on me, a sinner”. This is the Jesus Prayer and it will help you. Every time you say it, the demons are literally burned. God bless you. And remember that He sees you fighting this. He is allowing it to happen because He loves you. I think he was the “cause” of the series “ Person of Interest” To cancel ! The “powers that be “ decided to bring the growing popularity (forced on us) of Lesbianism/ Homosexuality (lived out) into it (quite suddenly). Thank you Jim for sharing with us. I'm just going to reveal something that happened to me in the 70s when I was going through really serious challenges in the relationship that I was in.. ((I am a convert from the Episcopalian Church at the age of 20 when I got married)..
Our Lady appeared to me three times. The first time being the most profound.
I was concerned about a friend who was very spiritual but you was getting into New age endeavors, and so I told Our Lady I would just sleep on their lounge chair and not have a blanket and be cold a bit, and I would say my Rosary to offer up some suffering for her soul, that she wouldn't go that direction..
Then, my whole body was bathed in a beautiful soft blue light and where I had my Rosary in my hands these thousands of what I call " twinkle lights" which I believe now are angels because I've seen them all my life now and in four years I'm 80...
And she appeared to the left of me about 3 yards away in the same blue light, but I didn't see her face.
Two other times with the same challenges... she just had her face flash before me and I can't tell you what it feels like to have five emotions hit you at once.. but it brought me peace in my sufferings at that time.
So I just wanted to share that with you and I know that the Rosary is very powerful
And yes I believe with all my heart she's our spiritual Mother as she was given to S. John the Beloved at the foot of the Cross and at that time she was Given to all of us.
She entered into his home through the door.. but she enters into the door of our hearts to be our spiritual Mother.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful experiences with our Mother Mary, years ago l had this dream which felt real. I saw this beautiful young girl on her knees in profound prayer pleading with God for the redemption of the world. In her perfect humility never crossing her mind that she was created to be the Mother of God . If you have the rosary of the unborn, inside the box there is a picture of our Lady as a young girl and it reminds me of this dream.

Just be very close to her and every day say, Mother I love you and thank you for being in my life, and caring for me, and I thank you for the great Gift of Jesus my Savior... just words to that effect through the day, just say that to her.
She may come to you in a dream ...many times Jesus will do that with people or a Saint, or someone else will come in a dream to you, so ask her maybe to come into a dream and speak with you, and if not ...if it does not take place,,just be very, very aware that she Loves you ...and that Jesus loves you more than you could be ever loved, and that you have a beautiful Heavenly family Waiting for you.. waiting for all of us.
And that our prayers are very Powerful as we pray for our loved ones and other people in the world from our Hearts!

I see all of Jim Caviezel's movies, he's my favorite. I started saying the Rosary everyday when my only child was going through a very high risk pregnancy. My daughter survived and delivered a strong and healthy baby. Now I'm teaching my grand-daughter how to say the Rosary and she has just made her Communion.
