The vampire lore in this song is a metaphor for drug addiction, guys. Read into Ronnie's backstory and you'll see he was a drug addict for many years.
The video is following multiple timelines. The girl in the white is the post turning, vampire version of herself. As she wakes up in the beginning of the video, she goes wandering around the estate, reliving her memories of the life she spent with Ronnie who is already a vampire, but she is unaware of this. (Notice the furniture is covered in draperies, showing the time which has passed since the events of the end of the video.) All the shots of her in white are of the vampiric version of her, all the shots of her wearing color are of her mortal life while she was unaware that she is living with a vampire.
As Ronnie fails to keep his vampirism in check, victims start disappearing and she finds herself covering up for his acts, without really understanding what she's doing. (Like scrubbing blood from the floor while the police come to question Ronnie regarding any knowledge of the missing persons.) Eventually though, she has had enough of his "coldness" and decides to leave.
This causes Ronnie to spiral, imbibing his "holy water" - whiskey and ultimately losing self control and feeding from and killing the help. She has a change of heart, begins to walk back to the mansion and hears the lamp being smashed as Ronnie sweeps everything off the desktop in the parlour, and runs inside only to be confronted by the confirmation that he is in fact, truly a vampire.
Seeing her seeing him for what he really is, Ronnie flees in guilt, only to return later and find her, basically dead having tried to take her own life in horror and shame after the discovery of the truth.
After seeing her like that, knowing it is his fault, but also unable to let go of the love they had, Ronnie turns her.
Then the rabble arrive, out for the blood of the vampire, who must be stopped to save the lives of the general population, but unaware that inside the mansion there now is two vampires, not one.
So to save the life of his newly turned love, Ronnie gives himself over to the mob, who carry him off to meet the sun, tied to the stake.
The final scene, is actually her deciding she no longer wishes to live without her love after remembering him giving himself to the mob to save her, so she walks out into the balcony to meet the same sun that killed him.
They literally released a new song few days ago you should definitely check it out
the "REVAMPED" part of the title is cause it was reshot and resung entirely to the new setting. the original featured a early 2000s hair style ronnie singing it in a wierdly upbeat and catchy punk pop fashion while in touring a rehab clinic.
that said, completely prefer this hands down, but yeah the more you know lol.
Yeah, the girl is the same girl in every instance. They are reliving memories out of sequence, and she especially, as she is reliving watching him being carried away to the steak right before she dies at Dawn.
The couple was married, and through his own self-indulgences and neglect of her, eventually He dives into a deep depression and kills himself (watch for the muzzle flash behind the curtain as she is walking in the garden). He then wakes to find, somehow, he has become Vampire. Before this though, some amount of time passes and she also falls into depression after the loss of him, and cuts her wrists in the bathtub. While she is falling away, he finds her just before death, and bites her. She dies, he buried her (hence his grave digging in the garden earlier in the video) and she eventually rises as Vampire as well. Then the cycle of reliving memories out of sequence begins again.
You might notice, the only times He and She actually interact is when they are both alive, then once only after his death when he is biting her in the bathtub. After that point, they both only get to observe prior events, and never get to really be together again, despite occupying the same house and basically dancing around each other's presences at times.
It's freaking fantastic work from start to finish, but damn if it isn't heartbreaking.
