I'm surprised you didn't mention how to open the console to generate the token which is kind of important. To open the console press the "~" key for US/Europe, for German keyboards, press the "^" key and for Scandinavian keyboards press the "Ø" key.
This worked perfect! Thank you. However. This past week i have been getting stuck at the following command prompt line......."Registering master server in US lobby"
It just sits there and tries again every 5 minutes.
Any suggestions?

I also have a problem of 2 overworlds. What i noticed though is the second "forest" doesn't have the season configuration when viewed from the browse servers-view world when choosing the server. I didn't change anything from the override other than changing the description to "welcome all", which is synced and I pasted each code correctly. I cannot seem to find a problem other than the fact I don't know how to check whether generating caves is turned off or not (as one can toggle that usually)?

it would be something awful great if you could link a download to the text you're copying into worldgen and everything else. "just take this and copy it, easy" okay thanks but i can't copy if you down link a text document download.
So, I don't know why this is happening to me. From the very first step when I hit "browse local files", the only files that open for Don't Starve Together Dedicated Server is "dontstarve_dedicated_server_nullrenderer" and "version.txt". I don't see a bin or any other files??
I followed your footsteps, but I got an error message, saying that it couldn't verify if the firewall port was open, or whatnot.... I don't have much IT knowledge, I tried to look it up on the forums, but I still couldn't make it work... I use wifi connection at home, not sure if it matters for this.
Hey! This works all the way up until I tried out some custom world settings with the worldgenoverride.lua, I could use some advice!
When I did the exact same changes to both worldgenoverride.lua files in the caves' and overworld's cluster folders it works nice, inspecting the dedicated server's world generation from my client shows that the changes have been noted. But.. how do I change the cave generation? Apparently, nothing changes in the cave's generation, it is only the overworld that does? And thinking about it; if the files have to be the exact same in both folders then wouldn't that mean that you couldn't have (for example) LESS touchstones for the caves and LOTS of touchstones for the overworld?
Do they have to be the exact same or not, and how come the caves refuse to alter either way?
Does the worldgenoverride file have to be identical for both the overworld and caves?
dont suppose you woul be willing to update this and make it for OMV 5 as i am running this on docker though portainer and im being ask for a key not sure how to do that in this instance.

Okay guys, I managed to fix all of my issues and I'm gonna lay down some FAQ for this lovely gentlemen here because I can see you making my mistakes1 - If you are using Windows 10, dont Copy/paste, create, or move folders onto your desktop screen for ease of access, I dont know how but it screws it up. Do it ALL from File Explorer, Always use the steam tool to get the bat files up too2 - Copy and paste his files from the RAW PASTE BIN, not the top one. The numbers cancel out the code.3 - If you are not starting from scratch, the best idea IS TO do so, So go to Klei folder, delete Pre configured stuff, uninstall the tool and re install it. Made a world of difference from me.That is all
Yeah I had a feeling the ports would be your problem, in pastebin always copy the raw code. Also note that you copy the correct one because I did not pay attention to the order in which I put them online. The name online says which it is.

What's wrong when the preconfigured server windows stop at "registering master server in US lobby"? They won't get to "sim paused"
I did exactly as u did, but instead of creating the caves, it created another world. Like there is two diferent worlds. How can that be? :-)
I dont know if u should edit the cluster caves to exactly the same a cluster over. Like, if im doin, 24 players in over, i set it to 24 in caves also?
You will have to do the files in the way I showed. But when changing standard settings. ALL files need to be changed accordingly. Make sure you have the master and slave message because that distinguishes caves and overworld
Ahh. Cuz i changed the overworld to 24 players, and changed the server name and description. But in the cave slave i changed it to 24 players and another server name and description. Is that why there is no caves? :-).
It needs to be synced. I had issues with it not being the same. So I guess yeah

Just make sure you delete the overworld and cave folders first in Klei folders before you start making your dedicated server again using the instructions above. Read it carefully since it's text-heavy. :)

Hello, how can i use/ install mods for the server?
All my folders are different to yours and I cannot find the caves folder or the cluster token
I found the caves and overworld
however when I generate a cluster token (attempted on 3 different computers) I cannot find the cluster token at all

In case you still don't know: You'll have to change the ip to your ip and not localhost. If your ports are free, you should be able to connect and also your friends

Hello I’m having a problem
With the server not pausing when no one is on it do I have to set it to false for it to work or do I have to find the code and edit it to make it work that way?
- Try open cluster.ini in overworld and cave folder.
- Set pause_when_empty to true
I figured out after going to sleep that it was missing a bracket at the top of cluster

I can't find 'Don't Starve Together Dedicated Server' on steam so that kind of halts my progress with this tutorial. Any ideas? I know this is over a year old. But I can't find anything much newer.
It's in your steam under Library -> Tools -> and then just search for it
@@Ascrobar so I have to buy a new copy of the game for my server. Because normally I I can access the server files for games without buying a copy for my set box.
@@leeweaver4734 You don't need another copy. Just hover over Library in your steam (don't click it) -> click on Tools and there you will find it if you search for "Don't" for example.

can someone explain the diff between a normal server made via "host game" and a dedicated server?
normal server made via host game will connect you and your friends to a server that the game devs pay for. This will use the settings you gave it. This works fine but can have limits/problems. People therefore want to run their own servers, you use a pc (sometimes you are not able to play and host on a single pc) and run the dedicated server on it, The reason it is dedicated is because from that point on. That pc whilst it is running that acts as the server and has nothing to do with the servers from Klei. This allows for better modding, settings and sometimes connections.

DOM 1103 change map is a console command. If you want to load an older map. You have to copy paste the save file into the server. Do note to check other files server specific

yeah, I did, but I have one more question: This acctualy runs clicking the "Play" button on Steam?
cos mine only runs by going into the folder and opening directly the .bat archive
you have to open the launch_pre...batch file for the servers. The other option runs only the overworld server. So don't run it using steam. c_regenerateworld() is what you use for the world.

run it, don't shut down your pc and do what you want to do (recommend turning off monitor). Your pc is the server.
