    Everyone around Mustafa tries to convince him to walk towards the throne. However, Mustafa sets off to save his father. Mustafa barely makes it on time but Suleiman gets suspicious because Mustafa has known about the assassination.
    The golden years of the Ottoman Empire come to life in a television series. The life of Suleiman the Magnificent is preparing to be a guest in your homes in all its glory. Get ready to experience the era with ambition, loves, wars and all the struggle.
    Prince Solomon, with his closest man, Ibrahim Pargam Ibrahim receives the bad news in a hunt. His father Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan passed away. Prince Suleyman sets out for Istanbul without waiting. Prince Süleyman quickly reaches the capital. He attends the culus ceremony without waiting. His life changed in one day. He started his life as Sultan Süleyman.
    Meanwhile, a galley loaded with slaves coming over the Black Sea is heading towards Istanbul. The hottest of the slaves is not yet aware that he is on a journey that will change his destiny. He is rebelling helplessly to return.
    Sultan Süleyman wants to show what kind of sultan he is by the commands he gave on the first day of his sultanate. But not everyone will like these decisions. Sultan Süleyman does not hesitate to challenge all of Europe with the messages he sends.
    Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. But it won't be long before Alex learns the rules of the palace. He chooses a great target. Alex, Sultan Suleyman's first night on the way to attract his attention. Sultan Suleiman's wife Mahidevran just arrived from the palace of Manisa. He is looking forward to seeing his wife.
Ama Alex’in sarayın kurallarını öğrenmesi uzun sürmez. Kendisine büyük bir hedef seçer. Alex, Sultan Süleyman’ın karşısına çıktığı ilk gecede onun ilgisini çekmeyi başarır. Sultan Süleyman’ın eşi Mahidevran ise Manisa sarayından yeni gelmiş. Eşi ile görüşmeyi sabırsızlıkla beklemektedir.

    In real life Sultana Hurrem had very friendly and diplomatic relations with King Sigizmund II and his family. She had personal correspondence with them, sent gifts and referred to him very friendly. Same on King of Lithuania. Their letters are saved in Topkapi Palace Museum.

      I'm sorry but your post includes significant historical errors. First of all Sigismund II Augustus was King of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in this way he was the souvereign of the Kingdom of Poland and (Grand-)Dukedom of Lithuania. Since Lithuania always "only" had the status of a Dukedom there couldn't be a king. Friendly relations started already with Sigismund (I) the Old since Suleiman needed a friendly or at least a neutral Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth during the invasion of Hungary. Otherwise he would risk a two front war. Don't forget that the King of Hungary at that time was a nephew of Sigismund the Old. Since 1530 Hurrem sent letters to Sigismund's wife Queen Bona Sforza (and Sigismund's II mother). In 1548 Hurrem sent condolences to Sigismund II (due to his father's death) and refferenced Suleiman saying that with the old king he had brotherly realtions and considers Sigismund II as a son. Btw. this episode of Magnificent Century is fictional and historically false. There was no famine in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth just quite the contrary it was the largest producer and exporter of grain in Europe. Anna Jagielonica never left the borders of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth for one simple reason she was too important and next in line to the throne. After Sigismund II she became a reigning Queen 1576-1587.

      This show did not care about showing Hurrem's upbringing and culture at all. It also downplayed Hurrem's involvement in politics, limiting her to a petty harem squabbles, when in real life she helped Suleiman forge political alliances.

    Hurrem started the Era of Sultanate of Women, she became first woman state advisor to Sultan Suleiman, the first woman member of Divan, she built and improved diplomatic relations with Poland, Lithuania and many other countries, she made peace deal with Persia and Suleiman’s biggest enemy Tahmasp Shah, thus avoiding war. 4 historically proven hurrem was ranked 5th most powerful women in ottoman history :
      1 kosem : the Regent and the de facto ruler of the empire for 30 years and valide 3 times (2 times for her sons and 1 time for her grandson) and 3rd women to married a sultan
      2 turhan : longest ruling valide sultan for 36 years and the official Regent for 10 years and was the only women in ottoman history to legally share equal power of running the entire empire with an ottoman sultan
      3 nurbanu : first valide ruling sultana.. First co-regent... Ruled the empire on behalf of her husband and son for 10+ years... And 2nd women to married a sultan... And the historically accurate founder of the sultanet of women
      4 safye : second co-regent sultana... Outlived 7 sultana...one of the longest valide sultan ruling... Historians compared to her to "actual queens who sit on the throne"
      5 hurrem : yeah she married a sultan and have some opinions for him and that's it

    Unlike the other women in the Harem and even Mahidevran Hatun who was at her Sehzade's Sanjak, Haseki Hurrem Sultan was a confidant to her Padishah. In this case, she was so powerful of course she knew what she was doing, she had her son's ears and she had her husband's also. This was a good diplomatic move for a country whose men were at war and for Sehzade Selim who is not favoured by the men left in the capital and had many other issues to deal with.
    It made them look wise and generous and hence powerful not just to their enemies but more importantly Sehzade Selim more wise to his Padishah. If they could afford it, why not do so when future alliances for a country at war is a good thing. Also she seemed to be doing it out of her own pockets. Having a daily stipend of over 10x the Sultan's own family when could easily do such a thing.
    Everything Each member of the dynasty, especially Hurrem Sultan's children did added to their "work portfolio" if they were terrible, then it's as if Sultan Suleiman made the wrong decision to marry their mother and the sons would be less liked, even the Sultan less respected.
    This was a good diplomatic move
    Edit: especially given how Sehzade Mustafa would soon fail to correctly stop the Janissaries rebellion 😬 makes Sehzade Selim look AMAZING 🤷🏽‍♀️ to this Padishah

    4:11 why Nurbanu is the only one standing?

    • @MissDatherinePierce
      @MissDatherinePierce Před 2 lety +4

      My guess is because of rank and age. She ranks below Hürrem and Mihrimah (and probably Princess Anna). I'm not sure about Gülfem. Since she was a concubine of the ruling Sultan and, according to the show, had a son with him who died young, she might also outrank Nurbanu at this point since Nurbanu only has a grandson of a Sultan (Selim is still only a Sehzade at this point). Even if they are about equal in rank, as far as I understand from this show, age also matters a lot, so since Gülfem is older, she has the right to sit before Nurbanu does if they were of equal rank.

      @@munazahadnan9838 well she did have a child (or were it two?) with Suleiman according to the a scene in season 1 but they died before the show begins. The writers just never made clear where that places Gülfem in terms of the hierachy.
      They sometimes treat her like a sultana and sometimes like a simple concubine.
      We only know she is definitely below the ranks the blood Sultanas hold and Mahidevran and Hürrem acquired during their lives because she bows to them and/or is always adressed after them.
      I have not seen her bow to Nurbanu yet (at this point in the story).
      My assumption is because of that either:
      - Gülfem still slightly outranks Nurbanu as the mother of deceased children of the current Sultan
      - OR both are of roughly the same rank but Gülfem takes precedence to sit because she is older than Nurbanu

    • @MissDatherinePierce
      @MissDatherinePierce Před 2 lety +4

      @@DimSK. well in real life, Gülfem most likely wasn't a concubine of Suleiman either but a high ranking harem steward and was on pretty good terms with Hürrem.
      But we have to go by what the show made of her here and not the historical Gülfem (no matter how much more interesting she is). In the show, she is a concubine of Suleiman and had children with him that died young.
