  • This weeks video I travel to the largest onshore wind farm in the Uk. Whitelee!
    This is just south from the city of Glasgow in Scotland in East Renfrewshire.
    It identifies as one of the greatest Gravel cycling areas with a lot of cyclists visiting daily! Most of which set up "Basecamp" at the Whitelee Wind Farm visitors centre to make use of their facilities. Cafe, showers, toilets etc.
    Huge thanks to who made this route up on Komoot, it was an absolute banger of a ride and highly recommended!
    I only managed to nearly crash once also!
    Hope you enjoy the video as much as I did making it!

    Roads and trails I know well. Did you know there's a bike wash available beside the visitor centre?

      Thanks for watching 👍I have used the facilities for showering. Which is amazing & I am forever greatful to the staff for letting me use it! I didn’t know there was a bike wash area tho. This could come in handy with the post ride muck on the bike! Ride safe out there 🐵

      @@ThatCyclingChimp as you approach main door of visitor centre, to the right there's a wee bike shed with barriers to lock bikes onto, just on your left as you go in, there's a hose on the wall, it's always switched on even when centre is closed. Really handy to clean dirty bikes!

      Aw thanks for the heads up 👍 i will use it next time if needed. I did see the small bike shed area.

    Enjoyed that one - got to say not really a fan of the camera on the pole behind you...

      Thanks for watching. The rear view 3rd person is a working progress. The video doesn’t do the ride justice, that area is challenging yet awesome to ride! I highly recommend anyone to visit if the can!

    I've been meaning to ask what pedals and shoes did you end up using on the 400?

    • @ThatCyclingChimp
      @ThatCyclingChimp  Před 21 dnem +1

      Thanks for watching! For shoes I am using Fizik Terra Climba x2 SPD. So far these are the most comfortable shoes i have owned. The recessed cleat on the sole just works perfectly for cycling and walking off the bike. They are also “weatherproof”. For pedals on The Green Hornet I installed the Shimano PD-500s one side is clipless the other side is flat. I opted for these for flexibility but these were my first pedals that were on Shadowfax originally to teach me how to ride clipless.

      @@ThatCyclingChimp Yeah, I definitely prefer the SPD cleat so I can walk off the bike. I've got XT pedals on both the Silex and Synapse and even put a set of PD-M540 on my TT bike.

      Yeah the SPD is prefer for walking about in 👍
