MVP Vs Discmania: Which Fairway Driver is BEST?

- Welcome back to episode 12 of the Learn Your Bag Challenge! Has the latest Simone Lizzote move to MVP got you looking into some new discs? Do you want to know which fairway driver is the best from the two companies? In this video, I'm comparing and contrasting the MVP/Axiom Crave and the Discmania FD fairway drivers to find out which one is best, at least for me, or to see if there is room for both!
I've put both fairway drivers through a five hole test to see which one is the best for different situations. After watching this video, you'll know which fairway driver is the best for your disc golf bag!

I actually bag both, and the fd is definitely more stable once they’re both beat in a little, they complement each other nicely.
Ya I reckon both are going to stay in the bag. I just got a new proton Crave I’m keen to throw. Looks domey
I have a brand new c-line FD and it actually has some surprising stability out of the box. I bag a prodigy F5 where the crave would probably be and it feels great in my hand but its definitely understable so it might become too flippy as it gets more beat in.
Ya I agree the FD out of the box is actually pretty stable 💯 I haven’t thrown a fresh Crave before so I’m not sure how much more stable they are before getting beat in. I also forgot to mention that the crave I was throwin is 167g whereas the FD I think 173g
I couldn’t get the F5 to hold a line, it was way too easy to burn. The crave is perfect for turnovers if you feel like the F5 gets slightly too flippy.
5:30 Mad skills. When I was in high school they used to call me the post man because in soccer I would always hit the goal posts. It is what it is.
I do like the crave but it is a bit flippy. It is a great hyzer flip disc for me though. It is the disc I can trust on straight tunnel shots. I love it for forehands because of the shallow feel. The servo might be a disc more comparable to the FD... maybe.

You can definitely find more stable Craves. You'll want to find a domier one, like cosmic neutron plastic ones. They are consistently the most stable ones with a rounder top profile. You can also find domy/flat variations of proton ones but the flat are more common and less stable I think. Sarah Hokom signature neutron ones are super straight in my experience and I've heard that the plasma ones are usually more understable than others. The fission plastic ones are interesting, they definitely have more glide and the max weight/close to are also nice and stable. I've also thrown a 153g one and it was ridiculously straight with absolutely no fade🤯.
Also you can really just rip stable max weight craves as hard as you can. Simons crave is definitely more on the understable side😅It must be.
Oh definitely I’m very keen to try a brand new crave in max weight because I reckon it would be drastically more stable. This one was only 167g while the FD is like 172-173g
Ive had a 155 gram proton double stamp clash crave and it was stable with no glide. I just traded it.
I just got a proton crave yesterday (my first crave ever) First 3 throws were ace runs, what a disc!

I bag 2 craves and when they're new in fission plastic they're similar to a new fd they will flip up but not turn. Protons are relatively stable also

Both are excellent discs. A Cosmic Crave is closer to the FD. C-Line FDs are very stable. I would recommend trying the S-Line FD. The S-fitse FD fits my hand a bit better.
like someone else already said, i think the newer runs of the fd in c line are considerably more stable. and yes im aware you said it was a beat in fd

Crave mold can do so much! Sarah Hokom Neutron one is the beefiest of them all, takes ages to get beat it as well. Using the same R2 pdga stamped one for a flippy straight thrower, a low weight fission one for the mega flips and a plasma one that flips similar to the R2 pdga one.
It really does seem like an extremely workable disc!

Luckily for me, I bag both! Crave is laser straight for me. FD if I want a tiny bit of fade. I rip with both discs

This is the North Ryde Common course in Sydney, Australia
To me my Crave and my FD were very different discs my Crave is straight to slight turn but my FD is just all turn on a flat 75% power for both
I’d definitely like to try a max weight crave so it’s a bit more of a comparison, but I wouldn’t say these are completely different discs to each other. They are still very similar the FD is probably a tad more stable
FD is more stable and has more glide/distance potential. However the Crave is better on the forehand. I love both discs, but only bag the FD as you can smush it and it just goes straight without flipping.
Ya I agree. The only reason I really compared these two is because my FD is pretty beat in so it’s not as straight as it use to be

My crave use to go straight as arrow until it got beat in now it hooks to the left first time I use the crave and the hex I went -17

Bend over a little when you throw and you will get that anhyzer out your throw. Your back is straight up. 4 hand looked good.

I bag 3 craves. The only true 'fairway' in my bag. Max weight fission craves are $$$ they're, genrally, flatter than the new run of FD, and still plenty stable.
I can’t get over how good it feels in my hand for forehands in particular. It’s soo nice 💯
Man i love my FD i have 2 cline and sline the sline is much straighter than the cline plastice, but once you beat in the cline plastic it more accurate.

You should do a crave, centurion review. The centurion is just a touch more OS. And more dependable imo.

Which plastic do you reckon is more stable?
@@discgolfjustice the neutron. Max weight fission is more stable than max weight neutron, but to get the most out of fission, you need to get like ten grams lighter than you'd normally throw. It'll be slightly less stable, but it'll go further on mostly the same line.
Interesting 🤔 I’m lovin my mvp discs but I’m struggling hard to understand which plastics do what
@@discgolfjustice most of my bag has become mvp over the past year. My experience is that the eclipse is the most stable, cosmic neutron is next and the rest are pretty close to the same as each other. Plasma may be slightly less stable, and fission can be the least stable, depending on the weight. I bag a few Insanities of different plastics, fission for turnover slowly panning left to right, neutron for pretty straight, cosmic neutron for a slight s with a small fade, and eclipse for a nice hyzer flight.
Is neutron plastic usually super stable? I have a photon in fission, proton, and neutron plastics and the neutron seems to be the most stable even though it’s the lightest weight at 163g
I have the old fd with -1 +1. The new ones are way way more overstable and I dont see a fit for that in my bag. I wonder what can replace old fd?

Centurion. 3 of my friends bag one after watching how mine flies. It flies like the crave, just a touch more OS out of the box. But absolutely more dependable.

In my opinion the Crave is really close to an innova-made FD in terms of flight, whereas the newer made-in-Sweden FD takes a little more effort to turn over. Crave is touchier and more smooth to craft lines with, but the Sweden FD can handle some serious power and go super far.
Ya that seems to be the common conclusion here. FDs are but more stable. But the numbers suggest that
@@discgolfjustice For sure, although the new Innova Hawkeye is the old FD mold with the old FD numbers and even though they’re clearly slightly different, the Hawkeyes overlap significantly with the Sweden FDs in terms of flight. IMO they all feel great to hold and to throw, so it’s going to come down to minute preference, but everybody should be bagging something in this slot.

FD Glow -Cline Nightstrike 1 is the best fd ever made.
I still love my FD 💯 it was the first disc that was ever given to me by a friend and he gave it to me brand new. So for that reason it’ll always stay in the bag. The FD also has a great hand feel! Personally I think the crave is a better hand feel for my tiny hands but they are both great feeling discs

Ya I have a separated right shoulder so I can only spin putt with my right hand but it’s way to powerful and inconsistent so I switched to my left because it’s surprisingly better. I’m still trash at putting either hand 😂
I have never thrown the fd, but i do have a crave and i like the way it feels in my hand and i can throw it pretty good back hand and forehand. Also my crave was already broke in, Great vid as always. 🥏🥏🥏🥏🥏

@@discgolfjustice you should try reading a sports psychology book or audiobook. You obviously have the physical abilities to play tremendously. Building a strong mental game is very beneficial. Took many strokes off my rounds
