Good video. Keep up the good work. Love your dog ..is it male or female? I am looking for a pup. My dog is 14 and a half and having nerve problems. Any help or do you know a dog breeder? Also what size of concrete screw to attach a small deck to the house
Every ad you do needs to have your GSD in it, such a beautiful pup
I agree!
Thank you!
My wife and I are officially Haxsters! Love you guys!
Recently lost the woodworker in my life. I appreciate all you do. Has been helping me in my journey to be the new woodworker/handyman in the lives of those around me.
Iâm sorry to hear that. Iâm sure youâll do fantastic things!
I am really glad I found this channel. .. I am moving out into the country with a ton of land and I will need to channel my inner Haxman for sure..
Ok the baking soda hack was fire!
đ
I'm 15 years+ of self taught diy. Always struggled with end of the tape measure moving and what to do about it. I now feel like a huge burden had been lifted off me. I can now measure more confidently. Thanks Haxman
This by no means was meant to be sarcastic. It's 100% true and I wanted to try to make fun of the fact I just learned something described as beginner diy.
We use the baking soda trick for building new plastic bits in the retro computer world. It's amazing.
HAXMAN IS RIGHTEOUS.
for the irwin clamp, I'm pretty sure it has the same design as my dewalt clamps where you just put the end piece on the other side of the bar to make it a spreader
Came here to say the same thing!
They have changed the design. You canât do that on mine.
Exactly, otherwise there would be no reason for them to let you remove it in the first place. You can even see the hole in the other end of the bar to lock it in place.
My Irvin's do just like your Dewalt's and don't need any modifications to become a spreader

@@HAXMAN I have the same clamps. All you do is put it on the other end facing out.
This is the best shop tips compilation Iâve seen! When I was a kid, girls werenât allowed to take shop class. Iâve had to figure out so much through trial and error. Having someone show you how to do even the easy stuff makes such a difference. Say, if you ever make another video like this, I really suck at getting measurements right for fitting angle cuts together with any semblance of precision; as in picture frames and butting trim into a corner. Itâs also a struggle to figure out any angle for anything other than 45 degree. But I bet thatâs easy with the right tool. lol
Iâm so glad you found it useful! Iâll keep that in mind!
So true! I wanted to take shop class in HS and couldn't...boys only. I had to take Home Economics which I almost failed. But my Dad helped alot. For example, he gave me a toolbox filled with Craftsman tools for my college graduation. I still have it plus many more. In fact, I had more tools, power and otherwise, than my husband when we got married. Now, I just have to keep after him to put them back where they belong after he "borrows" them! LOL
Well this was a really super helpful video HAX! You know I am not very mechanical (although I try). Great video for us Would-Be Weekend Workshop Warriors. (ok, say THAT 5 times fast....). Maybe A Weekly Wednesday Would-Be Weekend Workshop Warrior Beginner series? Maybe a Playlist on your Channel to allow us speedy access to the fanciful tips and tricks that will make us shine in the eyes of our loved ones the next time my wife asks me to re-finish her great aunt's furniture and I find out the hard way what happens when you stain wood with sander marks in it....:)) LOL. Thanks good sir. Great video!
Thanks Gord! If this video does well Iâll make more like this.
Fixing the metal spring on the plastic rims of those LED ceiling lights was just the "Woodworking trick" I was looking for.
Awesome!
This was a great set of tips. I was a professional scenic carpenter for many years and I even took something away from it. There are superglue sculptures in my future...
Thanks! Iâm so glad!
You don't need to destroy your Irwin clamps to reverse them. That pin is there for strength. You take fixed end off like you did, than you flip it around and reattach it to the back side of the clamp. Easy peasy. All trigger squeeze type clamps like those Irwins work like that.
This is an older one. You have to remove the pins to flip it. The pin on this clamp is there to keep the the sliding part from slipping off the bar.
holy crap. thank you. you are like the gandalf of the garage.
New woodworker here. Your tricks are super helpful. I appreciate watching you. I especially enjoy the "training with comic relief." You are clearly knowledgeable and someone I can learn from but you're humble about it. Thanks!
I am sooo thankful for these tips! I didn't need to know this stuff but am suddenly in a very big need to know. I am no good with stuff like this but am trying very hard to learn on my own without continually having yo ask my son or a neighbor. Thank U soo much for these tips!
Great tips. My carpenter husband gets so mad when I know all these neat tips, I love it!
Thank you so much finally an explanation about Mineral spirits. Love these tip videos you must do more
Great tips! Thank you!
HAX!!!!!
Ama z i n g tips!
Super glue & baking soda? Dude?! Who knew?!
Great tips! Thanks! đ
Itâs amazing. đ
You are the only person I have seen that knows how to mark a line to cut
Excellent tips, young man...I was familiar with most but the baking soda was a new "keeper" for me! Well done!đđ
Great video! Thank you.
Super Video!
Cool tips especially the mineral spirits and marking measured sides of stuff
Thanks for sharing these tips.đ
You bet!
Thanks for the great tips. I'm a novice when it comes to wood working, I appreciate helpful tips like these and you do a great job explaining them. I'm always thrilled when I can put into practice something I've been taught and see the improvement it makes in the end result. We're never too old to learn something new and it's so great to have people like you that can and are willing to share knowledge. Thank you so much!
Great tips!! More please.
Thanks Adam for the tips
Definitely very informative!! Always wondered about the CA glue cause I could never find it in the store. Now I know what to look for đ€
Wow man!! Thanks!
Loved the drilling a straight hole trick!
great tips, thank you
Just an "X" on the waste side of the line is usually enough for me. Plus I typically don't want to leave a huge mark that I'll have to remove from the next piece I cut. đ
The tips and tricks and information is Awesome. Thanks for your time and knowledge. â€ïžđȘâ€ïžđȘâ€ïž
Great tips, thanks! Instead of carpet tape I usually use hot glue (just the cheap, low-temp Harbor Freight stuff) for temporarily sticking wood pieces together!
These were good tricks. I am a new-bee and trying to learn about this hobby. Thank you.
Just when I thought I wouldn't learn anything new today... Your video came along. Your tips were "amaaaazing"
love your tips and tricks videos. always good to learn more info to use in the future
Great tips!
Very cool tips!
Great video, bringing things back to the basics is always helpful. Thanks for sharing that wisdom gained. Going to be checking out the sponsor too, thanks for the link.
Thanks Adam for sharing. I will definitely use all of these especially the NaHCO3 hack.
Everyday handy tips, thanks brother !!
Thanks
Great tips, Adam. I havenât used that glue with the activator but I always wanted to try it. Iâm definitely going to try the baking soda trick!
Itâs amazing how well it works.
Really enjoy your vids. So glad to see a new one come out. đ
Thank you!
Really great tips. Greetings from Sweden đđđ
I used the ca glue and activator to fix a 1â hole in my trailer light housing. It worked really well and is still holding up really well.
If youâre drilling a horizontal hole. You can put a ring on the drill bit and it should stay in place if your level. If youâre off itâll slide forward or backwards
I look forward to all your vids.
Thank you! I'm so glad!
Great tips, more of that thanks
Great video.
Wow! V-mark is a killer! TIL!
How's she goin'? Some simple hacks but invaluable to a wood worker. Thanks!!! Take care.
Great video, those sander scratches have been the bane of my existence. So thank you. I leveled up by watching this video.
Man, thank you not just for this video but all your videos. You are hella funny and super informative. Love that you do some projects with your family. Keep being awesome man!
Thank you so much!
Love that last tip the most! Great video as always.
Thanks!
Awesome tips!!!!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
A good use for a spreader is when you need to adhere something to a wall (like molding) and the wall isn't perfectly straight (they never are). And typically, this happens right in the center of the wall where there's not a door frame or something to clamp against.
In a case like that, find the high spot you need to apply pressure to, then grab a long 2x4 and use it in combination with your spreader/clamp to push from the opposing wall. This trick is great for "smoothing out" MDF baseboards or chair rails so that you don't have a giant 1/2" gap along the back of your trim. Normally, you'd be cutting the trim and/or backfilling with a TON of caulk to close up large gaps like that. But MDF is flexible enough to just force the trim piece into the same shape as the wall using a spreader and a 2x4 like a jack.
Hi, cool vid, especially the one drilling holes straight
Thank you for the tips. One I use is instead of the carpet tape, I use painters tape and super glue. No residue left on the wood. đ
Ooooo good stuff
Adam, these tips are definitely useful timesavers. I'm sending this to my grandson, who can usually do just about anything, but he may even discover something new from this video. Thanks! ~Margie
Thanks so much!
nice Haxman
Great job. Had idea about the mineral spirits
Nice! I like the âstickaficationâ! đ
đ
Interesting tips and gorgeous gsd
Funny how there was a spreader ad after you just showed how to make one. Lol
Iâm not a beginner and Iâll say this is a darn good beginner list lol I use the two block (using âsuperâ glue lol) drilling method for all my wall/stud drilling. And the mineral spirits tip is clutch when youâre just beginning. Great stuff as usual âđœ
Thanks!
đđđđ thanks
The sole of an old shoe works well to clean sandpaper also.
That ceiling lights fix with super glue and rose gold spoon to baking soda epic đ maybe can it a boys scout diy lol
OMG 11:40 mark it with a "V" how come NO one ever taught me this, not even my wood working teacher back in high school. BONUS explanation for the little give on all my tape measures ends. Thank you for explaining this too. I always thought it was because I banged up my tape measure and then the thought of oh great there goes the accuracy of another one.
Great video! Glad CZcams finally suggested a quality video to me. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Glad it was useful!
What A Great đ Job You Did!!!
Think đ€ Your A Kool Dude, Also BTW!!! Keep Up The Good Work!!!!
First time I tried the super glue baking soda trick i tried to make a paste from the two.
That's when I learned you don't need the activator when using baking soda. It takes only seconds to harden on it's own.
I also prefer to put the glue down first to make sure it's in contact with the project, than just dump on the soda and blow off the excess.
When filling in deep gaps or larger areas it's best to do a little layer at a time to make sure the glue and soda combine well.
BTW, I used this trick to fill in a cracked plastic nut on a guitar with the intent to replace it. That was over 20 years ago and still holding.
The trick of using glue and the dust from sanding to make a putty also works with CA glue. I've filled gaps on a guitar by squeezing a bit of CA glue in the gap and then hitting it with an orbital sander. This worked well when the two pieces were different kinds of wood too.
Great tip with the mineral spirits crazy man, and kids remember, it's not your granddads flask..đđđđ
Haxman hacksđł
When marking my cuts, I use a |\ type V with one vertical mark on the cut line and the other angled mark toward the waste side. Fast & simple without lots of marks on the next cut if I'm doing multiple cuts from the same piece.
Some guys think I'm bullshitting when I say this but I make one line. And I can tell by looking at it which side i started on by the shape of depth of indentation on either end. And I always start at my tapes edge.
But this annoys most people so when working with others I waste twice as much time drawing Vs đ.
So, that's what the springy thingy on the tape measure is for. I guess you can teach old dogs new tricks
Iâve used my clamps backwards like that hundreds of times! When I built my house I used them like that for the tons of tounge and groove that I have. Way easier than pounding the shit out of your boards!
"The thirteen inches is right there at the point of your V" đ
Awesome job. I love the Baking Soda hack. I can think of a dozen applications for it. I assume you can file or sand down the jagged parts to make it look cleaner after its been applied?
Yes. Absolutely
It's about time someone told the things you've said I've been saying these for years.
Have you used isopropyl alcohol to raise the grain before you sand? I like to use a fine sanding block to go with the grain after I use my orbital sanders.
We used the super glue and baking soda to do some minor repairs in the militaru.
Hackman Iâve got a hack Iâd like to pass on to you. I have found that taking a razor blade or Stanley knife, etc to the centre of the double sided / carpet tape backing paper and slit/nik it. Then use the tip of the blade to lift up the backing paper. Your welcome.
BEAUTIFUL DOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do almost all of these. My friend taught me. He must have watched that
Beautiful dog
Love your videos. Hope you are well, was concerned how serious you are on this video. Iâm praying for you to recover just in case đđ€Ș
Thank you so much. đ
V is for 13 inches.. Got it. âïž
Lmbo
you dont have to do any mods to an irwin clamp you can flip it any direction you want even on the new model
14:00 I think I remember seeing contractors marking the drop piece with a big X. I could be mistaken.
Probably. You can mark it however works best for you.
All great tips. I didn't know about the baking soda/super glue tip, or why the end of the tape measure was so wiggly. -Chad #purplecollarlife
Iâm glad you found it useful!
Easier trick is to properly draw your crows foot. You draw a straight line and an angle at you measurement and the angle line points back to the piece you are keeping.
Iâve also got a set of Irwin clamps - no need to file the stop off; the end just flips round and goes back on.
Come on Adam - youâre better than that!!
Mine is an older set. Maybe different. I just double checked and I canât flip mine.
@@HAXMAN it shouldn't be flipped and go back on the same side of the bar. You remove the fixed side and just move it to the other end of the clamp (facing the same direction).
Then again maybe your clamps are different but I wonder what the purpose of them making it removable is?
Probably don't need the activator for the baking soda. It's not instant but nearly when adding CA glue to baking soda
When u used that activator with Baking soda and glue on that light are u able to sand that hard mass down or will that mess with the strength of it?
You can sand it.
