  • Here is my tutorial on how to make homemade laundry detergent. My family and I have been using this for years and it works really well. Please know you can add more baking soda or laundry booster if you like. Whatever works best for your family. Most of the items can be found at a local hardware store, Amazon or grocery store. #homemadesoap #homesteadingforbeginners

    As a soap business owner, bubbles don’t clean its just pretty to look at. Your recipe will clean I make it and use it. A lot of people think the more bubbles the better clean you get. It’s not true. This is a great recipe that is why its good for HE washers because of the low suds but yet it cleans.

      @grilawrfr101 Před rokem +3

      Would that also apply to car detailing n washing? Most detailers swear that it's the suds that you need to clean the cars surface

      We make our laundry soap. Our towels were getting grungier and not absorbing water. Then, I saw a video on why. It takes dish soap to hit the grease buildup. So, I tried adding an 1/8th cup , a couple big squirts on top of my mix and it worked.

    • @sandi0821
      @sandi0821 Před rokem +3

      Question Kathleen…. I’ve never made any kind of cleaning item homemade, my main reason for looking into. This is my son’s extreme, eczema, and no matter what we use, even though if it says, all free, or clear, seems to still give some sort of discomfort to my son. So I was willing to try this the other thing I’m asking is how well does this dilute? My scrubs for work are black and I’ve been noticing that no matter what brand I buy all It all hammer, game, tied, you name it I always get like a liquid white residue, and I even use an extra rinse cycle so I’m just afraid if this doesn’t dilute all the way and break down and it’s gonna leave a residue? I’d appreciate any response. Thank you.

    I love this recipe, and am making again for the 4th time today. My very 1st batch didn't turn out right, it was still very watery and grainy, I used it anyway because it still worked but left a little residue from the soda I think. The 2nd batch I made, I accidentally boiled over the igredients but was able to stir it down. The boiling is the magic that turns it into a gel like laundry soap, it's perfect. Just thought I would add a tip.

    So much easier to use and store withou liquid. I air dry the bar soap (zote/fels naptha) then cut into chunks and place in food processor with baking soda and whiz until it's a fine powder. SHake jug before using. So many versions of this. I found that it was gentler on my clothes, but that it does a great job removing stains (If you have a bad stain, you can brush some of the gel into the stain and let it stand for a few minutes.

    I prefer going dry until the time I use it. That way your detergent isn't sitting there for 6 months getting stale.. I generally will use 4 lb borax 4 lb super washing soda 4 lb baking soda 3 1/2 to 4 lb OxiClean and about a pound of Downy calm lavender vanilla bean scent boosters. The only thing that is not the best thing for us out of that is the scent booster.. but I mix up nearly a 5-gallon bucket that weighs close to 60 lb as I do a double load each time I make my laundry detergent. Just a thought to make things a little bit easier. I also use the extra fine grading option on my grading block. And that's so that the soap melts better and warm water.

    She said that she is not doing that anymore because her
    towels became water resistance. The
    water was not penetrating the fabric of her clothes and towels as well. She said the clothes starting looking dirty .
    She said Bar soaps works when you
    make friction between them with your
    hands or on the washing board.
    She said that that friction doesn't not
    occur in the washing machine. As a result, over time the bar soap it will create a layer like a wax on top of your clothes trapping the dirt. Then you will have to striped your
    clothes to remove that. It is similar like when you use downy, it will create a layer.
    Also, her washing machine broke because the bar
    soap started to build up inside the hose of the washer and the repair warranty did not cover the machine because she did not
    use a normal regular detergent .
    Honestly, I don't know what to do.
    🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks anyways .

    While your mixture is thickening, you start filling a 5 gallon bucket with water. How much water are you putting in there before you add your soap mixture??
    Thanks!

    QUESTION: How big is the stock pot that you use?

    • @Mercedes65
      @Mercedes65 Před rokem +1

      I started with a 16 quart and worked my way up to using a 24 quart. I would suggest starting with the smaller pot so you can gauge the consistency of your broth with the amount of bones needed…remember the more your broth gels-the better.
      Some people make smaller portions in the Insta pot as well.

    When you measure out 3/4 cup per load, is that 3/4 cup for small, 1 1/2 cup per medium, and 2 1/4 cup per large.
    Or is it 3/4 cup per machine load

    How many quarts is the stockpot you’re using in the video?
    I have a 16 qt. It looks like your pot may be slightly bigger(?). If so, do you recommend that I should double the ingredients?
    Also, when you transferred the detergent mixture into the hot water inside the bucket-was that mainly the detergent that filled all the way almost to the top? Or did you top it off with water near the brim?
    My detergent mixture only reached the half way mark of my 5 gallon bucket. I topped it with water until it was near the brim.

    I have so many questions! How does this do with an “HE” washer? How do you measure for an “HE” washer? Do you put it in the detergent receptacle or in the bottom of the washer?

    Good morning sweetheart yes this is me again your friend from South Texas.. I too make my own laundry soap but I make mine dry I tried to liquid one time it didn't work for me.. I make mine dry more or less the way with the things that you have showed but I will also add a bag after dry soap that has a baby seal on it it cost about eight or nine dollars you can buy it just about anywhere Walmart whatever stores you have there I hope.. and I do use the pink zote soap.. I shred it like I do cheese I lay it I spread it around and pizza pans that I have the largest that I bought off of sale from a pizzeria that was getting rid of their old things and I dry them in my kitchen on top of my freezer I have a chest freezer so yes I have a clear top.. that is nothing on it except solid white and I lay my pizza pans there and my sword is drying and it smells awesome and I didn't stay there for two days until the moisture is practically gone then I start mixing a little at a time. And I use my hand with a glove I add everything with a that you have Plus an extra bar of soap shred it like I do my cheese and a bag of the dry soap and then I put it in the containers and sometimes I'll have more one large container it depends on on the soap items I guess on basically because I let the soap dry the bars that is. But they smell my kitchen like roses they smell really nice sometimes I just hate for me to use them and soap that way but it also makes my my clothes smell real nice and fresh.. now one day I had my son come in and he saw it up there I never keep it up air in my kitchen and he grabbed a handful and when he got it close to his mouth to eat he said to me Mom why does it smell like perfume.. LOL I started laughing so hard I said to him did you eat some of that and he said no he says I was about to I thought it was pink coconut I'm still laughing what a wonderful memory thank you very much God bless you you always have memories that bring back to my mind be safe blessings

    It's not mentioned, but are we to heat the mixture on the stove as we add the Ingredients to dissolve and thicken up? I noticed steam so on low medium heat? Simmer or boil? I really want to try this but want to make sure I'm doing it right.

    Do you use this in a machine washer? I've heard that it is bad for the machines. I'd love to make some but dont want it to ruin my washer.
