Terry A. Davis - "Good Times Bad Times" (Led Zeppelin cover)

- In 2018, Terry A. Davis was a regular among the homeless of Portland, Oregon. Some of you, in fact, may have bumped into him, if not had a close encounter. Through events that are still unclear to me, he was taken to a mental hospital for two weeks, then released on his own recognisance, after which he hitched a ride to The Dalles. It was there Terry met his demise by way of a train. His story is a strange and fascinating one, which has been well-documented on the internet. I happened upon it some years ago and had lost touch with the saga of King Terry, until recently hearing of his death in September of 2018.
During one of his infamous livestreams, Terry once said that the immortals made music and the mortals listened to it. Led Zeppelin, he said, were one of the immortals. Here is his tribute to 1969 song, "Good Times Bad Times," recorded in downtown Portland just a few months before his passing.
Since Doomed & Stoned focuses on the music and stories of the heavy underground, with a bias towards doom metal and stoner rock, I thought this would be a fitting way to pay tribute to an internet legend. \m/ - Hudba
How amazing that, as he's sitting there, by happenstance his body covers the T in THACKER and leaves the word HACKER for us to see.
Wait wtf that's crazy
What great spirited man
Have a feeling that's no accident, esp with him doing a zep song. Well done for spotting that... So much slides by unnoticed.
The collective unconscious wants us to learn from Terry’s memory.
@sJeza Hey, would you mind elaborating on some of this for me? Which videos does he mention china, virus, or a lockdown? There's so much content to sift through.
Man it's just so sad to know he got an actual drumset, but was thrown out of the house shortly after and had to go back to clapping. Lifes cruel.
He wasn’t thrown out. The police took him after the neighbors called and heard a bunch of yelling and he held his fist on his dads face, not actual punch. He had a breakdown which is why he ran off and was living in a van and then the streets. His family actually showed up during one livestream and tried to get him to come back. If it wasn’t for the glowies we would still have him today.
Man had a good sense of music.
@@KandiKlover uh, not how I remember it. he was a lolcow that got coaxed into saying more and more racial slurs at his parents and he got thrown out.
@@KandiKlover What video was that? All of his work is archived. I was following Terry pretty closely in his last days when he was up in The Dalles. Even thought about going up there to visit. From what I gathered is in the last week of his life he got picked up again for a 48 hour hospital lockup. They probably gave him his recommended meds and released him. When Terry hit the streets the gravity of his situation was probably too much for him and he killed himself.
@@KandiKlover fuck those fbi lizards, rest in peace king terry!
I just realized. When you see a homeless man, they may be a genius that just doesn't fit to today's world.
Rest in peace Terry! You'll always be remembered!
That made me cry from how much truth I feel in your comment, as I’ve often thought the same thing😭
@@komafibre Yeah. We never know and understand each other deep down. I guess that's how the world is...
I give em money when I can. Even if it's going towards booze or H. They're having a hard enough time tbh, they probably don't have much repreive from the crushing reality around them
@@BacklTrack That's nice! Have a nice day my friend!
Powerful words man
Haunting. Didn't know about his homelessness or death until reading this description while listening
this man was the best programmer who ever lived
can we please take a moment and appreciate the incredible accuracy of those drums
To feel sorry for this great man is an insult. I salute him. He lived his life more so than others can say for theirs. At the end of the day he was man enough to face death with no fear. RIP Terry the tech prophet and God's programmer
Exactly!!! That's the conclusion I have come to for the last few years as well. People like Terry are the ones who truly live life without fears.
They are the ones who experience the most things and always experience the thing that is the most important in life. FEELINGS! I admire the sheer power and will of people like Terry! He will always be a great symbol of hope and power for all of us!
You may rest in peace Terry!
He has a mental illness. Schizophrenia to booth. One of the worst mental afflictions to have. Anyone who understand that would feel pity. The last time someone saw him, he was having a mental breakdown. He was homeless ffs. Imagine being sober after all the delusions he have and realizing the reality of his life. No one would want a life like that. You don't want a life like that.
No it isn’t. I feel pain at the loss of his home and his life shortly after because I respect him. He deserved to live on.
@@kishascape You should not feel SORRY for anyone. The only person we are free to feel sorry for is OURSELF.
Terry did his own choices, he lived a free life in the best way he COULD based on what he had and what he didn't.
He was a great man and a great role model for us that we live today! He may rest in peace!
dude was a neet for 22 years
Not a single dislike. Glad to know only the supporters are here. Weird why Terry still comes across my mind sometimes. Rip to the world's greatest programmer.
the smartest fucking programmer that ever lived. divine fucking intellect.
the CIA glowies really had to come after him.
8 glowies have dislike this divine cover so far. Their days are numbered.
As much as I miss him and think that he was a very talented programmer calling him the greatest programmer in the world does not do justice for those many programmers alive today that are better at programming than him.
Truly sad @@solid-snake7336
Said man who never wrote his own compiler in less than 20 thousand lines of code.
Its disheartening and daunting to know there may be people be like Terry out in this world abandoned and led astray.
Everyone has a little bit of King Terry in them.
I watch this video every day.
I love you for saying that bro
Surprised this video hasn't been muted for copyright it's so good
Every now and then when you think of Terry you can feel him thinking back at you !
Consciousness isn't what you think...
Mr God says thanks for the videos...
The lyrics of his song:
In the days of my youth, I was told what it means to be a man.
In the days of my youth, I was told what it means to be a man.
Now I've reached that age, I try to do all those things the best I can.
But no matter how I try, I find my way into the same old jam.
Good times, bad times, you know I've had my share.
When a woman left home for a bad man, still don't seem to care.
Sixteen fell in love, girl as sweet as could be.
Told me just a couple of days before she was rid of me.
Oh, I swore that she would be all mine and love me till the end.
But when I whispered in her ear, I lost another friend. Oh, good times.
Good times, bad times, you know I've had my share.
Good times, bad times, you know I've had my share.
Rest in peace dear Davis
Its a Led zeppelin song btw
I wish he was still here......
I truly looked up to him.
I just wanted him to be happy and healthy.
I am not even a fan of LZ but this.. Wow, very impressing drumming for Terry. RIP
Rip, he was a good man.
This was the first song I learned on drums, back when I was 10. Won a regional drum contest with it, first cash I ever made, 50 bucks. I forget how I speant it... Now I'm a CS nerd, and I hate it somedays, but this man keeps me going, surprising me every dang day! Rock on terry, forever!
“Some boys won’t shed a tear, over a tale like this here. It can break me down to places, where it hurts the most”
But you carry on
In pictures and in song
And the unmade bed you slept in
Where i layed you down to rest one last time
Good bye dear friend
Good bye dear friend
Oh my god this is a pure soul.
They were horrible parents to kick him out like this . You might say "you dont onow the situation" but I know exactly how it feels to be in his shoes. I've been homeless and to rehab multiple times. I know what it's like to deal with mental illness, and throwing your son who clearly was suffering like this out is reprehensible. Did they not have the money to help him? Or did they just not care? It pisses me off so much because my parents did the same to me. You'll never glow in the dark Terry, you were always in your own light and now that light has ascended to be with the stars. Love you man, you had an impactful life.
He left us too soon, and it could have been prevented!
It's easy to say that from the outside. But I don't think you know how it is to have to deal with schizophrenic family members. It's not like you get a break, It's not like we can just stick around and then "disconnect" and have a break for a moment, it's 100%, 100% of the time. It is exhausting, frustrating and devastating. We are not accessories to the people around us, we also live our own lives, with our own ups and downs and struggels.
lol he treated his elderly parents like shit and they lived in fear of him. they were saints for letting him stay as long as he did
@@warshipsatin8764 Well they get to live the rest of their lives knowing their son is 100 percent dead because of them, so I wish them good luck with that.
illness or not, the guy was 40yrs old with a masters degree in electrical engineering. Bird's got to leave the nest, yo.
If heaven exists and I somehow get there, the first thing I'm gonna do is find Terry.
it does exist have faith

Found out about this guy yesterday. God bless!! I salute your spirit and power.
Rest in peace Terry.
This is better than most modern music being put out even as a cover lol
Quite true!
He's really got that Bonham syncopation down.. even tonally, he's managed to imitate it pretty well for using just his hands. Terry was definitely some kind of savant
was expecting to click on this and have a classic terry laugh but this is actually quite deep. The song clearly resonated with him.
DIVINE F**KING INTELLECT!
sometimes the flipside to genius is tragedy. your taste in music was superb !
Damn, Terry could jam. Would love to have heard him on a real kit.
god bless this man
This hurts so much to watch, it's so sad and passionate. May you be with God, Terry, we miss you here on earth.
“There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.”
It took a train to take him from this world
It's nice to know the homeless man likes to play drums while saving money at the same time, and even perhaps maybe making some money on CZcams, so sure, I support that because there is no evidence of any drug & alcohol abuse.... So go for it dude... JAM ON!!!
It’s crazy he was In Portland. I lived there from JAN-JULY of 2018.
In all seriousness it's a good thing he wasn't there to experience it two years later. What portland has become is a nightmare, especially in regards to the homeless there
He has to get a film made about him - Daniel Day Lewis would be perfect!

@Hás Starship7 Yeah ok virgin. Nice pfp. Now go like the original comment that you replied to.
CIA helicopter in the background at the end
RIP Terry always stopped by the CIA
He was able to put so many of the different things that I've felt over the years into words (not talking about the song), a soul that is truly missed💚
one day man i will understand
RIP legend

St Terry
wow
Poor man
RIP in peace sweet angel
Kinda weird to think I may have walked passed him downtown and never even realized.
Drummin with god now :3
What saddens/horrifies me the most about what happened to Terry is knowing it could have EASILY happened to any of the rest of us. All it would take is a few slight changes to our genetic code and we would be just as schizophrenic.
Genetics plays a part but isolation is the main factor.
His brain stimuli consisted of millions of lines of machine code. How could he not go insane?
Actually kept a solid beat
Anybody tried to help him during this homeless phase?
yes
I can't believe it's been three years since the bioluminescent sub-saharans from the central intelligence agency took him out with their train.
Did people give him donations?
I think you have to reach a certain level of notoriety in order to have the option of recieving donations
someone please tell me what he is wearing
Dang. I'd love to sample this drumming like the Amen break and make some kind of classic electronica over it, as an homage to his genius. It almost feels disrespectful though. It'd be sick to have him remembered in some other forms of media besides CZcams videos sanctioned by the glowies. But I don't want him to be thought of as a source of edgy music samples. It'd be serious and thoughtful music.
I dunno. In my view, that's what culture does, and I do think this man deserves to be remembered by the culture for a number of reasons. I say go for it!

Never forget that they killed him bros.
His parents were happy when he was healthy and forsaken him when he was ill and couldn't function for his own and their benefit.
