  • Gilera's Fuoco is a big-capacity version of Piaggio's 250cc MP3. Both look like scooters but with their ability to lean they ride like a motorcycle. Check out the video below as MCN's Chief Road Tester, Trevor Franklin, rides the new scooter

    Ok. I have the Piaggio MP3 500. It's lovely BUT you have to understand that it will not stand upright as some people think because it has three wheels. IT WONT unless you do the following
    1. It's top heavy.
    2. It has a electric switch on the handle bar that locks the wheels in place at very low speeds. To unlock just twist throttle.
    3. Get used to having your feet on the ground when you stop and NOT on the foot plate!!
    4. Be careful when you stop and park your bike .
    Stop, put feet on ground, turn on wheel lock, turn off motor, put bike on stand.
    5, Be very careful of pot holes, camber .
    6. Turning at very slow speeds in car park the bike can go over.
    7. In UK be careful of white road markings if wet and cut them ar a sharper angle.
    It's very heavy to lift it up if you let it go over.

    I have a piaggio mp3 and it never scrapes at all, you can lean off these like mad and they fly around bends. the extra wheel means you dont have to worry about white lining or ruts in the road, point twist and go. safe fun.

  • @samank1979
    @samank1979 Před 15 lety

    Afraid not. because the two front wheels are a certain distance apart (dont know the exact dist.) it is classed a motorcycle. If they were further apart it could be classed as a car, like harley trikes etc

  • @Traqr
    @Traqr Před 16 lety

    Sure they did! You get an audible warning before dumping the scoot by leaning past the 40° limit to suspension travel.

  • @pastyccino
    @pastyccino Před 15 lety

    is the standing system (or whatever it is named in english) not the muffler.

  • @chaolan77
    @chaolan77 Před 15 lety

    apparently they scrape at 40 degrees or less.. but it's insane to be leaning over that much anyway!

  • @nestofdragons
    @nestofdragons Před 16 lety

    I have heard similar critics about my (non-race) leathers. But ... at 120 km/h you are totally having new skin if you scrape the ground without them. I should know. Still have the scars in my face from a fall at 40 km/h. And that was with a bike! :(

    Help please ! Can i press and hold the shock lock button into lock position before i come on a full stop rather than clicking it once after the light comes on ?

  • @Adus98045
    @Adus98045 Před 15 lety +2

    Oh man, this is a scooter, not a bike. Please dont lean that low as the side stand is touching the ground making such noise....

    My question is this: would you buy the 500 if you had it available to you at a similar price? I'm faced with this decision for my wife.

  • @waveman1500
    @waveman1500 Před 15 lety

    Scrape, scrape, scrape! The fact that there is so much stuff dragging on the ground makes it obvious that this was not designed for any serious cornering prowess. Just like scraping the foot-boards of a Harley dresser!

  • @Neon8787

    You sure?? Looke dlike centre stand + drive train casing to me... And the exhaust during right-hand turns.
    Either way it's not a great feature. Still look slike it can lean further than the Honda DN-01 though!
