I love the charm of that ship and you're 100% right robbaz was one of the best promoters for the game way back. I would never have found the game without him
I remember the first ship I made, it was a metal oval with two pontoons making it look like a Trident, it had smoother looking turrets then this, and I knew not to put too much stuff above deck, but it was built very much like this 😅
Unfortunately I lost it in a data wipe, only managed to recover two vehicles, my LMC-2 Sierra, and GB-2 mk2 'runt'
Glad I got Sierra back though, had a bunch of firsts on that ship and it's still managing to be effective.
(Edit: I just published the LMC-2 'Sierra' Class, it has a floating sign in the thumbnail too for those who may wish to see.)
If I made this I would consider it my magnum opus, you calling this "noob craft" made me feel like I will never get good enough in this damn game :P
@@evrenselaga22 It's ok, we've all been there. Every magnum opus ship is practice for the next one! :D
My first ship was GIANT CANNONS antimissile missiles shields. That was like 6 years ago. Sadly so many games come out its been just recently I got back into the game. I think everyones first ship should be uploaded.
Hell yeah. I still have the first screenshot I took in FtD, of the first ship I ever built in FtD. :D
I’ll second that, I uploaded a remastered version of my first ship, the Viper-class Gunboat, not terribly long ago. Though I’m also thinking of uploading the _real_ original version as well.
I cant speak for the Creator, but I think it would help us new Players if you were to point out our Mistakes. That way, we can Learn from them.
@@OnurErtas-q1o I actually do end up pointing out a few. Couldn't help myself. 😅
@@BorderWise12 I kinda just heard you in the Intro saying you wont and thought to myself that I would prefer it. In Retrospect: How Embarassing.
@@OnurErtas-q1o All good, we all comment too soon sometimes. XD
I build more weaponry than full crafts, and I did loose a lot of them to time and the prefab limit (the dark days...) but I do have some old designs still saved, especially in older craft and it is kinda fun to look back at that. The one thing I do have is a platform "showcasing" all the turret heads I ever made, the earlier ones are recreations based on my memory. It still amazes me how far I've come, from the days of not caring about armor, to only caring about armor, through my weird phase of design and to where I am now, with fully deco'd turrets that look taken straight from a sci-fi movie. I think no other game I have has made me realize how much I've progressed in a way as drastic as FTD did.
I wasn't expecting to see the stone
Reminds me of my first 50 hours playing. Couldn't make a ship that could get past the DWG. Then I discovered flight. 😊
I’ll be honest, if the first ship I built was a battleship, the internals would end up looking a look like this one’s.
@@sampletext5959 Of course! I've done every single whoopsie I pointed out in the video! XD
Ah reminds me of my own battlecruiser.
Except for the fact I learned to use 4 meter beams by then. The other thing I did wrong with it. Modded guns and simple weapon spam
I will always be a proponent of 1m blocks. It makes reworking so much easier at the very least.
@815TypeSirius not great for weekends computers tho
@@815TypeSirius on smaller craft maybe. Then again I made my tiniest little menace out of 4 meter blocks
@@Foxtrot_UniformCharlieKilo its fine. Just dont get hit. 🙂
Now i make non-meta designs as a builder with 20 short of 1.5k hours, but i do it cause im doing a factuon challenge. Basically, no armor, realiatic hulls/super structure realistic weapons (missles dont reload unless launcher is built specifically for it), nothing is designed to work alone well, carriers work as in real life, no heals, etc.
I'm trying to do that myself slowly, only with age of sail boats with just APS or crams as mortars, I've got a Trimeme and Brimeme finished, the more I make the more modern they will get!
@williamcox2025 that sounds cool. So far, I got the hulls for my corvette (starter craft), Frigate (backbone of my navy), and my Destroyer (land attack/tip of the spear), and am currently working on the Crusier (fleet defense) Carrier and air wing (main attacking force) and Submarine (stealth attack/sub surface actions/spotting)
@@Foxtrot_UniformCharlieKilo ahh yes, making the cruiser, carrier, and submarine at the same time in case you get bored of building just one for more then an hour lol.
@williamcox2025 I take hours just to work on the hull of my corvette. Tldr, most of my time in FTD and yet more reasons to think I have ADHD later, I've redesigned the ship some 30 odd times now at least, just to fix issues I had with the hull. This has led to about 2/3 of my redesigned ending at the hull. On the right side, though, I've gotten really good at it
@@Foxtrot_UniformCharlieKilo I have the exact same issue myself, just Drop the H.
Only I tend to be quite good at hulls, but the super structures I've finally been able to create some that don't look like tiny observation towers since I hit 700 hours about 40 hours ago.
To keep me focused on a single ship I tend to play campaign mode, take notes, then make what I need for the next campaign and just see how far I can get with what I got, I need a cheaper 400-500k craft probably with plasma for example, but not till I'm done with a Artillery focused cruiser.
Just checked, I have a hull of a Corvette already, just got to do the SS And resource stuff and I'll be good to go, spent maybe a hour and a half on the hull, probably will spend another on the super structure since it's a small thing.
190 repair bots? That ship should named as Wolverine
This costs 2M? Send it against the Gimle.
dead in 45 secomds.... i hate those crams from the gimle
The Gothicslaang when?
@@SephirothRyu Oooooh, I should do that just for the name! :D
Gothicslaang, then maybe a priest version to fight it?
Or is that too WF like?
What do you have that makes the torpedo trails n stuff? That looks incredible!
Render Distance mod! Link is in the description. 😁
@@BorderWise12 Oh that one! Tysm!!
Would you review my ship if I sent it to you ?
Probably not but never hurts to ask
I made it at like idk 150hours and then i upgraded it when i got to 500 or something. I love it so much
@@moumdoh Maybe! Share it on the workshop and let me know the name and I might look at it at least. 😁
@BorderWise12 on that topic, I was wondering if you would ever be up to doing a review on an entire fleet. Reasoning that doing it all in 1 video would be senselessly long, I was thinking of making it a miniseries. At most, 5 ships total, for a total of 6 videos, 1 for my Frigate, Destoryer, Carrier and Submarine each, and a final video to show them all working together as designed.
It's all modeled after real-world naval architecture, strategy and tactics (or as close as I could get), with some other restrictions i though would be fun to build around. This has basically been a work in progress for the past year, with the 1.48k hours to prove it, and ill still need some time to finish all of it but I'm getting there.
It can go bad with to much black/dark colors in general. reason night battles are cool
as a youtuber you should probably never ask your community to go comment on someone elses stuff just fyi it never goes well
@@liquighost7988 My commentators are usually very well behaved, but fair point. Probably shouldn't. 😅
Ngl they better not have more than 500 hours on ftd or it’s very bad and ugly
