Hello! Would you kindly explain to me how to properly export the model as .obj, .stl and so on after finishing the work? I have several folders named top_layer_groups (including other folders with map textures etc.), docValues, background_groups, so as you do have in the video. But I don't really understand how to transform them into layer or smth, which will be the object of new 3D extrusion. All my actions end up exporting a "blank" model (just a grey plane or a cube). Would be grateful if you are able to help.

Great step by step tutorial and very crystal clear. Question do you know of any way to generate terrain maps capturing Google data and then export these to Adobe Illustrator in vector format, I am drawing a map and I need to capture the mountain shapes, it would save me a lot of time if there was a way to use existing Google Data? grateful for your advice.

3D terrain is only for valley and the likes but I'm creating one for Total area: 9,655.92 km² (3,728.17 mi²)!

Is there a way to turn off the shadows within google maps satellite view? When I change the light angle after generating the map the dark shadows from the original google maps terrain remain static, therefore making my 3d rendered shadows less convincing.

Make sure you are turning off the satellite view before you copy the URL.

Yes, heightmaps are universal. Any software that reads heightmaps will read this one. I know Unity uses heightmaps and if Unreal has any self-respect it would too - I suspect it does since it is really popular. XD
