    I’ve been an untrained songwriter and musician arranging harmonies by ear and brute force since the ‘80s, but I got halfway smart a few years ago and started learning theory; I can’t believe it’s taken this long to stumble across a harmony primer as clearly, succinctly and elegantly presented as this. Thank you so much.

      Im a 17teen year old student from iran I don’t go to music school im studying math at high school i play guitar but im nut really a professional player and Im a beginner at piano I know a bit music theory from researching online and self learning and trying to compose music
      Im looking to go to study music in italy or france but I don’t know how good I should be for them to accept me is there a chance that i get accepted ? If not what should i do , do you think someone in my age with only few years of experience can make it to a music college?

      @@MusicMattersGB i can’t play any classical instruments only guitar and even in that im not really that good if i get good in theory and aural can I still get it ? I checked the sample exam of abrsm and i easily passed the 1and2 with almost perfect points in 10 minutes and I still passed the 3th and the 4th and in 5 my problem was with key signatures and pass that I can’t get any abrsm because we can only get the online ones in our country if i worked in my theory and aurals can i get to music college?

I wrote a piece more than 10 years ago, orchestrated it for beginning wind band, but I didn't really understand 4-part harmony - I just knew the chords I wanted and filled in notes with not much reasoning behind it. Excellent instruction. The visual guidance is really helpful and a better approach to music theory than some of us might have had as begninners. A really good pair of ears (maybe much rarer) may pick these points up quickly anyway.

      This might be a dumb question đŸ™‹â€â™‚ïž but why aren’t all songs just written in c maj to make it easier? Do each keys have their own identity or are they just a little higher or lower in pitch?

    • @MusicMattersGB
      @MusicMattersGB  Pƙed rokem +1

      It’s possible that all music could be written in C major but it would be boring if music couldn’t move from one key to another.
