Volkswagen T-Roc 2019 - The likable, fun Volkswagen SUV

- Volkswagen's T-Roc fashion-conscious SUV takes the brand into almost uncharted stylised territory. Jonathan Crouch reports.
The T-Roc is one of Volkswagen's most important models for years, representing the brand in the affordable style-conscious end of the fast-growing mid-sized SUV segment. Almost everything you can't see on this car comes from a Golf hatch, which is no bad thing. As for the stuff you'll admire in the driveway, well it all looks satisfyingly fashionable.

Thanks for the very comprehensive review. It’s just come to Australia. We’re seriously looking at the 140Kw 4wd version.
Our pleasure, David. Thanks for watching 👍
I really like our T Roc, bought in 2020 went for the sel 1500 auto DSG. After two years still love it, but won’t buy another next year. Bought a very well specified one with panoramic roof, auto etc. It’s very nippy when needed but gets good mpg long runs it’s low 50 if very careful and around town it’s always above 40.
Didn’t get the automatic tailgate opening option but wish we had for £300 option, it’s £1200 to retrofit.
All in all apart from the slightly plastic panels on the dash it’s a nicely equipped car. The DSG box is a dream to use. Some reviews I have seen say the box is jerky. I have never experienced that at all. Auto hold handbrake works wel as does every other new fangled gizmo such as automatic headlight dimming, automatic lights driving / led, automatic driving which is a bit disconcerting when following cars and they stop at traffic lights. Lane assist works well too.
Only fault is that electric seats are not an option.
I didn’t think it would bother me that much but it does, so this is why we won’t be buying another. We have thoroughly enjoyed it though, and if you can live without electric 7 position seats with heated & ventilated seats this T Roc is a very good option.
Great talk around,for a great motor,well done 👍👍👍👍👍

@@OsvUkVehicleSupply It truly was a proper review :D the car is not perfect but those points i cared about were detailed in the review (will probably buy this car)

First thing what a great review. Full of detail and easy to digest. The T-Roc is a fine looking car and VW deserve some praise for the design. Things on the inside start to slide though. Hard plastic everywhere inc the dash top and pretty much all of the door cards. Even VW's (far) cheaper Polo gets soft touch, it makes no real sense. Esp when you look at the price asked higher up the range. A 2.0 4WD with auto box punching through the £30k barrier, the interior quality simply cannot carry it. Its a shame because they really could have had a winner here but if anyone with £30k to spend test drives BMW or the Volvo XC-40 the T-Roc is going to feel cheap.
Thanks for the feedback Fred 👍 good point, the interior qualities of its competition do seem to out perform the T-Roc
Wow for very good Performance xD for you 😎😉🇵🇹❤
Sir why do you keep on driving the manual gear boxes surely you should review the DSG Automatic gear boxes in all the VW direct shift gear boxes from T - Cross , T - ROC , Tiquan?

I'm coming from a clio and there isn't enough space for me there anymore. The roads here are ok but I have certain hobbies that take me on rougher roads and I have been know to all sorts of things in my car. I'm single but hope to start a family some day. With all that in mind should I consider this or the smaller T-cross?

This guy does the best reviews ..ever...I'm searching for my next car and always go to his reviews. Thank you
I see more of you than the car !!!
I'm picking mine up on Sunday! Getting rid of my Polo...
What made you pick this over the t-cross? What engine are you going with? What are you circumstances if I may ask? I too am getting rid of my small clio and need valuable input.
@@frankopanklaric I bought my Polo back in September new, but it's been in the garage with electrical faults six times so I rejected it and bought a different car from another dealer.
I had a look at the new Clio myself but concluded the rear passenger space was far too small, and the B-pillars gave huge blind spots on test drive.
I wanted something slightly bigger than that, but didn't want another Polo. As I will be taking my family plus girlfriend (total of 4 people) on holidays etc. I wanted good rear leg room and good boot space.
I have the 1.0L 115BHP TSI engine and it feels surprisingly fast for such a small engine!
I'd recommend it.
Good luck :)
I am thinking next week to buy the 2.0 tdi version. Its time to change the polo.. whats your opinion? Are you happy with troc?
@@lee-vr9qc Yes, due to the UK lockdown I have only put 160 miles on the car in a month. But I like it so far. :)
Oh and if you get a T-Roc, get the Design trim or better.
Another great report. Unfortunately this car is overpriced in my opinion (especially the high up variants). To be honest all VW cars are a tad on the expensive side, aren't they.
Good looking car though.
Thanks for the feedback Wes, It is true similar vehicles are available with less expensive price tags are available
Agreed the Skoda karoc is practically the same car and nicer inside for the same money so then its all about the badge isn't it.
my wife said your review could only be understood by someone like Ed China in fact i was a little confused myself.
Good Car, Good description but you had me out of breath keeping up with you. You need to be a lot more relaxed as I missed quite a bit of what you were saying. Jonathan Crouch, SLOW DOWN!
Thanks for the feedback Micky, we will pass this on 👍
Gave up so many adverts
Sorry to hear that, Carlo. CZcams has been adding more adverts to our older videos and we're working on a solution 👍
Is head on display available in t roc
No it is not
Vw tech or infotainment system is not intuitive but is intrusive to the point of irritation, frankly it annoys me every time I drive it and I wish I hadn’t bought the car 1.5 dsg sel
