G37xS Sedan with Vibrant 1790 resonators, with and without stock mufflers

- Several clips comparing the stock exhaust, resonators replaced with Vibrant 1790's and then with muffler delete pipes. Currently running with the stock mufflers as the muffler delete pipes are way too loud for daily driving.

This is the best comparison vid I've come across. I've got a '13 sedan with tanabe y-pipe and tanabe medallion axle backs. The actual sound is great, but it is a little too quiet. I've got a couple 12" vibrant resonators on order and a guy that's going to fab a new mid pipe with them. Your vid has increased my optimism about the result. Straight pipes are a bit much for my daily. Plus, I enjoy induction sounds too and don't want to drown them out entirely.
howd it go?
Nice job with this. All the right scenarios
Thanks
Preciate this video man looking at this setup by the end of 2021.
Sounds really good with the resonator installed & muffler delete I might go with this setup
Just be ready for really loud drone just off of idle while accelerating moderately. Leaving a stop light with a law enforcement office right behind you will make you nervous.
@@cfbarclay Not in Jersey, they don't bother us at all in fact I had one behind me tonight & was going under a bridge so you know how loud that gets, & he went right pass me, in fact some cars are so loud here it sounds like gun shots.
Just a heads up, I did this with vibrant 1792 bottle resonators and kept stock mufflers and it’s not at all loud inside the car, and nearly sounds stock but keep in mind these cars are very insulated. On the outside it does sound about 15% louder than stock but regular driving you won’t make any noise. I’m not looking to do as loud as muffler delete but when I got these I was hoping for slightly louder than what the vibrant did. So we’ll see I may drill a few holes in the exhaust before the mufflers or striaght up get some cheap Amazon mufflers to bolt on but not sure yet. It’s a nice sound but keep in mind it’s barely louder than stock, with stock mufflers and vibrant resonators.
Best organized video out here on sound comparison scenarios. I have a '05. Going with 2.5 Y-pipe and Magnaflo muffler. Debating between Vibrant bottle or Vibrant ultra-quiet canister resonater. I'm concerned about drone, but don't want stock sound out of the pipe either. Do you have any drone with the bottle resonator and stock muffler? Increase in cabin noise? Ideal if I could try each scenario before welding but not an option.
Wade Besack - Thanks, I tried the make the video I know I’d like to see before spending $$ I do wish I would have done some interior comparisons too. My current setup (Vibrant + stock mufflers) has no drone. Muffler delete will create serious drone in the lower rpms just off of idle. Good luck, hope it sounds great when you’re done.
sounds good asf get a power tune and fbo
Hey I’m going to get this eventually,
but I have a couple of doubts.
When installing this did you have to cut out the factory resonators and put the 1790s with some additional piping to connect with the rest of the factory piping or did you replace them with new pipes, like getting measurements for the y-pipe to the resonators to the mufflers?
Also since the factory resonators are held together with something in between them, did you do the same thing with vibrant resonators or did you leave them separated while being held on with something?
Also sorry for blasting you with these long questions, but hopefully you’ll reply and understand my questions
Thank you for your time.
I brought the new resonators into a muffler shop, they cut out the stock ones, welded in the new ones with about 4 inches of additional pipe and welded a couple supports between them (not as fancy as the stock part but plenty to keep them from moving). That plus making the muffler deletes from a set of spare mufflers that I brought in was $200. Hope that helps.
cfbarclay Alright, thank you so much.
I was just going to replace the resonators and I’ll ask local shops for prices for doing the job on removing the old resonators and welding the 1790s on.
But again...thank you so much and the video was awesome about demonstrating the differences.
Hope you have a great day man.
Cheers
just install these today paired with tanabe axle backs, is it normal for it to be raspy?
Did you get the regular bottle style or the fatter ones
Do you have a link to the 1790s you bought? Were they 12” length and 3” diameter or 2.5”? Also, were they bottle style?
Erik Peterson -Their website has all the info on them but they are bottle style, 3.5” diameter body, 12” long and 2.25 inlet/outlet diameter. The guy at the muffler shop had to add a small length of pipe as the stock resonators were longer than these. Hope that helps.
Okay help me out here.. muffler delete loved the sound and I have the pipes but went back to stock muffler. Currently have resonated high flow cats and after having muffler delete I miss that sound under throttle... (early am cold starts my only issue) is it even worth trying to replace my res with these vibrants and stock muffler for more sound?
I still think it was well worth it to replace the stock resonators with the Vibrants. Certainly kicks up the volume without being outrageous
Was there any drone/rasp with the stock muffle and vibrant set up. I'm going for a subtle but nice deep tone.
No drone with the mufflers, lots without. I think you’ll get what you’re looking for. People that are not car people don’t say anything about the exhaust note but car people seem to appreciate it.
@@cfbarclay bro I’m a car guy I have a vibrant resonator to no mufflers on my Lexus (sounds amazing). Sounds really good on the g too. U think it’ll drone just as bad on a 3.7 q50?
How do you like the vibrant 1790s and stock mufflers? Is it louder than stock? It sounds good in the video but I can never tell haha.
Trying to debate between a resonator delete or vibrants. I want my exhaust to sound louder but not muffler delete loud
I really like this setup, slightly louder and more aggressive sounding than stock without being LOUD. You'll certainly notice the difference with cold starts and under acceleration but it's barely noticeable cruising at highway speeds.
Thanks! I think I’ll do the vibrants. It definitely sounds at least 20% louder than stock and more aggressive. Louder but not that loud (I’m still in a CARB state). Probably no difference in drone right?
@@cfbarclay thanks. Will be getting same set up on my Mazda3 lol 12" vibrant with stock exhuast.
What size piping did you use?
hey I’m getting my mufflers cut off and getting vibrant resonators put in the spot of the mufflers, good or bad idea?
Interesting, I’d have no idea what that would sound like. Please let me know what you think.
Hey bro how was the drone with the vibrant resonators and stock mufflers?
Haris Wadud There really isn’t any drone with the stock mufflers. If you delete the mufflers you’ll get serious drone just off of idle.
@@cfbarclay oh ok how was the drone with the stock mufflers and vibrant resonators
the sizes range from 1790 to 1794 (2.25" - 3") and I've heard different instances of all three being used so which is the correct one that fits?
Did you ever figure out what diameter fits a stock midpipe? For the coupe, the piping in front and behind the stock resonators seems to be even smaller than 2.25", just above 2". Is everyone who buys the 2.5" just getting custom midpipes made also?
I’ve been watching too many videos and I still dint know what to do😫 I have a muffler delete and cherrybombs in place of the resonators and it’s too damn loud imo. So I was wondering what kind of exhaust I could get with about the same loudness as a muffler delete. Any recommendations?
That's a good question. The setup I have now sounds really good but I wish it was a tad louder. I've been debating taking the stock mufflers off and adding a small glasspack or race bullet to the muffler delete pipes that I had made. Hard to find something that small though in a 2.25" pipe. Good luck
I’m running muffler delete and vibrant resonators it’s still decently loud but it sounds perfect to me
Do you have any videos of the cherry bombs + muffler delete?
Did you find the right set up? Im currently looking. Been thinking of ark with vibrant res?
Whats the set up on the last couple fly by clips???
Vibrant resonators and muffler delete
My mans, is there any rasp with your current set up of 1790s and muffler delete? I hope not because I’m trying to run that same set up with no rasp
Hey Sal- I've only run the muffler delete for a couple days because it is so loud. I've been running the stock mufflers with the Vibrant resonators. When the pipes/car is cold it can sound a little raspy I guess but overall doesn't seem raspy to me.
cfbarclay so u don’t remember how much rasp it had when u had 1790s and no muffler?
I don't remember it sounding raspy, I remember it being really loud especially at part throttle around 2500-3000 rpm. But what doesn't sound raspy to me may sound raspy to you. Sorry I can't be of much more help. Depending on how you do the delete if it's too loud you can just bolt the mufflers back on like I did. Good luck.
cfbarclay thanks for the info,
cfbarclay hey , I got the 1794 vibrants which are 3inch ones should they still fit?
Is the drone with the stock muffler and the vibrant?
The exhaust is a little louder inside but I don't notice any drone.
cfbarclay do you have to buy two vibrants?
What is the diameter of the vibrant resonators
Nathan Hassenrick -That’s a good question. The car’s currently in storage so I can’t measure it. I’d check Vibrant’s site
Hello I was wonder how loud you car is with the resonators and muffler delete
I'm not sure if you're asking about the stock resonators or the Vibrant 1790's. If you're asking about the Vibrant resonators, it's loud. So loud that people several houses away will turn and look when you fire it up, certainly to loud for daily driving (in my opinion) especially at part throttle around 2500-3000 rpm. I would basically idle out of my neighborhood not touching the gas. As for the stock resonators and the muffler delete unfortunately I never tried that combination before having the resonators welded in so I have no video or opinion on that setup.
Are these resonators good to eliminate drone?
Hi Luis- I haven't run my exhaust without resonators to know how much these help with drone. Sorry. I'm guessing there would be serious drone without any resonator in there but I'm not an expert.
cfbarclay tbh, I was running straight pipe for like 3 months (muffler and resonator delete) and that was loud, but when I put my vibrant resonator, to me it sounds like I went back to stock. I still have the muffler delete on it, but it deadass sounds like I went back to stock. I’m not happy or sad with the result, I just think it’s a little too quiet, or maybe I just got used to how loud straight pipe was
Mark Covarrubias Perez you haven’t heard loud until you take the cats out Lmaooo
Did you buy just one resonator? Or did you have to get 2?
2, I replaced both stock resonators
Stock cats?
Ganja Farmer 🍁 Yes, stock cats. All stock except the resonators and mufflers
Cat on
Full stock cats, just resonators and mufflers
Is your car a manual
No, it's a 7 speed automatic
Not gonna lie the stock sounds better , the other one sounded like a can vibrating
The g sounds far better with a muffler and resonator delete replaced with a single 3 inch pipe
no. no the fuck it does not. please don’t tell people to do a resonator delete it sounds so shitty
@@sklizzy3125 instead that's what everyone with a g does bc it sounds so much better than just a muffler delete
@@jordan122095 and then they get shitted on because it sounds terrible 😂
