The king of nymph patterns 👑 When that pattern doesn't work I know I'm on for a ball breaker day. I like a turn of cdc at the head, I feel it improves the fly.
Your channel has cost me at least $700. Since I subscribed, I bought a new vise and all the materials I need just to realize that it is A LOT harder than you make it look. I can tie a mean Zebra Midge, though!
Appreciate you hanging around this place ! You will get better with time and practice as you build the muscle memory. The two things that will make you a great tier are thread control and proportions . Took me awhile for that to happen haha
Just keep at it. It will get much easier over time. It helps if you can find a buddy that is into fly tying that can give you some in person help along the way.
@@AboutTrout Say no more. Those proportions and then timing your thread wraps to have enough taper when you get back to the other end. I'm getting there and I'm sure all my flies will fish, but some are ugly. A lot like me, I guess, lol. Thanks for the great videos!
@@coreytohme9861 None of my friends tie, but they are all willing to critic, ha! When we are allowed to, I am planning on joining our local fly tying club. They have Zoom meetings still, but it's not the same. I look forward to tying with someone in person, thanks for the encouragement!
You are on a roll with awesome fly tying vids - thanks! I like how you used the Sulky Shimmer to create/maintain/produce the taper - a tip I will add to my game. Know that I appreciate you sharing the guide flies.
Nice video James. I do have similar patterns, but its those subtle bits that can make a big difference. Probably why I have so many that look the same. Take care mate. Shaun UK.
Watching trout guys fly tie, I can understand how they keep materials for years and years. I bet a buck tail could be passed down for generations if you only tied nymphs with it.
@@AboutTrout I'm a streamer junkie. I usually add the common materials on the list every time I make a order. A 8" articulating streamer puts a hurting on the stock.
@@AboutTrout You should say "has been fixed." Present perfect tense. I understand it's different from French, but you'll get a handle on it eventually.
This is absolutely my top producing fly pattern in the Northeast - nothing out fishes it ! Like nothing!!!

I bought a croissant and a beret just to tie this fly. Wish me luck.

@@RoadandReel one of the most important lessons taught to me when I started was that less is more in fly tying. Keep those noodles thin!
You got me buying fulling mill now. Thx
Oui oui!

Well, ironically enough I'm french and this channel got me to start "euro nymphing". So bonjour from Marseille I guess
Thanks for checking this place out . Some day I want to catch a “Zebra trout” like the ones in France .
@@AboutTrout Sorry, but you can almost forget the "Zébrées“, no Water in some big streams, pollution and hot temeratures in the summer... 😢

Another stellar pattern. Thanks man.
Wow. Just wow.

It’s a great hook!
Great pattern!

That’s true ! Growing up on the East Coast I torched through buck tails.

Looks sweet! I think I’m going to buy some filling Mill hooks to tie with
Keep up with the great tying videos!
Thank you. Gotta give the people what they want .
Sweet, easy tie, merci!
Pour faire le bonne peche a la mouche! Ca c’est parfait!
Yep, I tied 6 of her, put them right next to 6 the Justin zebers I tied a few weeks ago... they are making me blush!
Nice!
Une mouche Française... This thing will catch wood cutting herrings through shrubberies !!
Killin it
FYI that's Hends Spectra Dubbing not "Hands". :) Thanks for the videos
Thanks just caught that typo in the description. It had been fixed.

Nice fly. Thank you.
Where do you guide in New mMexico?
Mark, I primarily guide the San Juan as well as the Rio Chama and private stretches of the Conejos in Southern Colorado.
I'm going to tie this on a Hanák jig hooks. What sort of colour is that Hends Spectra 46? Black? Peacock?
Hanak makes great hooks
Spectra 46 is like a black peacock color . Very nice .
@@AboutTrout Thanks!
can we get a "late summer" guide fly pattern?
Soon, I’ve finally had work slow a little bit
All of these guide flies..... how about one for the weekend warriors?
Next time !
