I love truth untold, magic shop, love maze and paradise but also the whole album is a masterpiece put together. It's my favorite bts album and I never skip any songs when it comes up :) Paradise was definitely a slow growing song for me just because it's such a different song, but now I love it, particularly because of the message. I feel like it's a really underrated song sometimes.
Instead of my favourite song, how about my favourite memory/thought associated with this album:
BTS performed, "Airplane Pt. 2," at award shows in front of other Idols & industry staff + execs.
I specifically looked up fancams of the idols' faces during that song, because you're so right that the lyrics are very personal. Think about RM & Suga's verses, in particular, being sung & danced right in the faces of the people they were rapping about. I wanted to see who looked shocked.
BTS have friends in the industry, but it's pretty clear they're dodging a lot of snakes - this was the era when they really started telling THAT truth.
29:00 Anpanman was a Japanese comic book superhero that was also popular in S. Korea (in the 90s, I think).
The character's head is made out of a bun filled with bean paste. He helps people by going to them when they're in distress, then tearing off pieces of himself for them to eat. In other words, he's a superhero without any powers apart from his ability to constantly travel back & forth, work really hard & give of himself to others.
And Also, i want to add that the song is implying that Bts is also kinda like how Apanman to Army. They are like how apanman help people by goving away themselves.
and to further add: the Japanese name for this bean paste filled bun is anpan :)
So many times I see people requesting for Outro TEAR to someone who is new to BTS and I’m like NOOOOOO you need to wait. It is a song that once you know BTS, the members and who they really are, the song has much more meaning and hits the heart hard. The emotions in the song are undeniable, and without knowing anything it makes you feel. Knowing the reference, it for sure makes you cry. Namjoon sings Tear as in cry. Yoongi sings Tear as in rip apart. And Hobi sings Fear. The three of them had tremendously good lyrics, but Yoongi’s words crushed me. I’ve known that feeling and the fact our precious boys were going through something like that tears my heart apart for them. I’m so glad they were able to work through it and draw even closer. You MUST see the live performance because it takes it to another level. Hobi slays the ending. One of his best performances live ever. He reached in my chest and pulled my heart out. There is something special about the Rap Line. They command the stage and the hype is so intense. Powerful, masterful and dynamic. That is our three rappers.
Then there is the Vocal Line and they brought it with The Truth Untold. Four voices so unique and distinct and utterly beautiful. Their live performance was so good. BTS are true performers. While their albums are amazingly good, its the live performances where they excel and what they live for.
I agree with most of your ranking of the songs. It is sooo hard to rank them. LOL. Just an FYI, the song 134340 is also called Pluto as that is the number assigned to Pluto when they stripped Pluto from being a planet. It is interesting if you dig deeper and get some explanation on it. Doolset lyrics is a good place for that. The song becomes more interesting once you make the connection of the speaker being Pluto and the sun is their lover or someone who is very important to them but has left them. YES! This album. 😁 The truth untold is still one of my favorite songs from them, definitely my favorite from the vocal line. Fake love and the truth untold are the songs that got me into bts. Pluto is such an underrated song imo. Anpanman is such a vibe and Outro Tear is my favorite rap line song, it just hits so freaking hard!
The truth untold is the song that made me fell in love with BTS. It is so beautiful and deep. There is a sad story behind this song

there is a great performance of anpanman @ today citi music series. in my opinion especially V's "waiting for you anpanman" is so impressive in this performance.

I saw others have mentioned it already too but Anpanman was a children's cartoon superhero comic and TV show from Japan that's popular all around Asia! Also you should react to the performances of Outro: Tear they are so good!
