They kept talking about a Carnival in the lyrics and then there was that scene when it was raining blood. I believe that they killed the people that came to the party. Carnival comes from Latin (carne vale) and it means to “remove the meat” so idk. Just my theory.
That’s freaky. I never knew that’s where carnival came from. Maybe it became synonymous to festivals because of pagan sacrificial festivals or something. Do you know why carnival means what it does when its roots are so gory?
Also, this is my theory, but I think Sunoo turned them into vampires. He was mimicking the lady who possibly gave them vampire abilities by pouring his blood into the fountain. Also the werewolves were trying to stop him from doing something.

@@nerasomnia i think the "removing meat" is more related to Carnival being a pre-Easter lent tradition, where during lent you give up/remove meat. Having this meaning however can of course work in the plot like mentioned I suppose. Or maybe since the Carnival is connected to indulgence and celebrations they are trying to make the best out of the current situatuon where they have plenty before they have to give it up (maybe by killing people as well, somehow:D).

I agree with the complaint about the voice altering effects they add in post production, I'm an early enhypen fan and I still have trouble telling their voices apart in their songs because they're all made to sound kinda the same, even though they don't in real life. The only member I'm able to recognize vocally, without fail, is jungwon. I really hope Hybe will loosen up and let their natural vocals shine through more. Besides that, this song, MV and album were perfect !!!!

I completely agree, I wish there were more clips of Sunghoon dancing in the shower of blood. There's something so inherently insidious and poetically sick about him pirouetting while soaked in blood. It throws you for a loop. It actually gives me the impression that they, as vampires, drained their party guests.

I watched a lot of their content so I can tell them apart now, but it definitely took me some time at the beginning. If you watch their live performance it's a lot easier bc there's no vocal processing.

i agree. given-taken is one of the best debut songs i’ve heard, and while i didnt like drunk-dazed at first, after watching their performances, the song grew on me.. not to mention both albums are so solid too. this recent album is probably one of my favorite albums this year.

I don’t know why, but I’m glad that I wasn’t the only one who wasn’t so crazy about that reddish-brown hair that Heeseung had when they first debuted. Like, I was SO HAPPY when I saw Heeseung with his hair black again during this comeback.
I totally agree about the vocals because I love jake’s tone of voice when he sings. Sunoo & Heesung also has a very unique voice and I was upset they all sounded the same.
I love how he was so impressed with that Heeseung part. I feel the same way Heeseung is a total different person while performing.

@eros ivv agreed. once they start having rap parts i think the vocal colors of the remaining vocalists will be showcased better. sunghoon, jungwon, heesung and sunoo have distinctive voices. i guess the rapline are still sharpening their rap skills.
I think they debuted with Given-Taken mostly, and this is just my opinion, for the fans. And by fans I’m talking about those of us who watched iland. The views for iland on cable network may not have been that big, but the online presence was big. And since we watched these guys grow, we already knew what they were cable of. Txt could debut with crown cz we literally knew nothing about them, other than their profiles which were given to us. If enhypen had debuted with a “crown” of their own, I think it might’ve come off as lackluster to those who were already familiar with them... because even though we hadn’t seen them all together as a group, we already saw their individual capabilities and strengths and knew that even though they hadn’t all been in a group together on iland, they’re amazing, and can and will rise to the occasion. And since they (Bh) knew that they already had fans even before debuting, they could take that chance and make this move, cz in some ways iland seemed like little mini debuts for all of them 🤷🏽♀️. This is just my opinion, and I could be way off though, but this is what I think.

Probably just me but I kinda want to think that Yongseok Choi (the director of the MV) intended for the fountain scene to look unnatural and almost unsettling, just to really double down on Enhypen's concept being unnatural and unsettling to a point. And it's not just the lighting that makes the scene look weird, but also the choice of color with the blue and the red clashing with each other, making the set look like one of those pictures of luminal spaces that you see on Reddit or something... idk just a thought, but yeah Big Hit/Hybe knows what they're doing

a good theory i heard is that the video is jungwon's birthday party with flashbacks in the past. the style is much older in the flashbacks because they're immortal ofc. the point of the party is to lure more people into becoming vampires. sidenote: k and ej, who are werewolves, typically rivals to vampires, sneak into the party because they're onto enhypen's plan and they're watching them. sunoo's sitting alone with niki guarding the door to spike the drinks with his blood which would make everyone vampires. the lady in white is likely who turned (some of?) the boys which is why sunoo's actions at the fountain mirror hers. not sure why this leads to sunghoon dancing in a pool of blood but yeah.
I do love Given-Taken but Drunk Dazed is just a really addictive song. I had it on non-stop ever since it came out, as you said the chorus is truly amazing.
damn i dont even know how they do this, but this song (even before i watched the mv) so closely reflects the chaos ongoing in my life right now, dizzy, euphoric almost, to the point of losing a sense of reality yet theres a feeling of sadness and loneliness laced deep inside. the portrayal of losing control to chaos and the surrealism of the whole mv's imagery just 😲 the whole storytelling is just ✋ it hits so hard and the FACT that all the boys are younger than me leaves me in awe by the rawness of the concept theyve managed to pull off. this is somewhat a thing ive noticed in the "4th gen" kpop music, for example in TXT's can't you see me, the whole surreal, eerie feeling of sadness and madness masked by high powered fronts is just something thats, damnnn, hits hard man. Can really see this coming forward in the industry, or actually already is, (not just in the kpop scene but like the whole music scene in general, music has sort of taken this direction) if theres anyone who has actually ever sat down and analysed how the generation factor plays into affect the musical direction of each time and generation pls enlighten me

I feel like with Given-Taken they didnt feel like giving them all the budget at once so they just put them in an old crack house and a random field and they went with it😂 It just felt low budget to me even though thats probably not the case, but with Drunk-Dazed they nailed it
I'm really excited about this comeback, i wasn't really into their debut, but this song is PERFECT.
Like actually my favorite of the year, even though it came out literally yesterday.
I wish they continue to explore this sound in the future.
I never paid attention to Enhypen. But PD crazy thumbnail made me question myself, and so, I wanted to check it out first before the reaction: thank you so much for that PD.
This songs is my pre-covid nightlife in 4 min. From the warped dizzyness of the intro, the blended voice, the loud jumping chorus to even slower and muffled bathroom breaks.... Needless to say, I've been dancing to it like i'm full party alone in my kitchen.... And it just warmed my heart and filled me with much needed endorphins!!! I think I didn't even realised of much I missed being drown in music and people at clubs...

Enhypen is the case where a big company really invest on their artist, and support the artist with good song, good choreo, and consistent-continuous storytelling. On the other side, Enhypen really working hard to prove that the support is not going in vain. One note about the recording voice, I think Big Hit style is to make the recording sound 'balance', so it give the sense of consistency whenever we listen to it. Like lemon cake, where the cook add acidity to the bread, the cream, and the fruit so it will taste harmonious. But for live performance, they do their real voice which gives layers to the song. Like fruit cake, where you can taste strawberry, kiwi, and orange separately but also you can enjoy them alltogether. You will not be able to avert your eyes from them.
So no one's gonna talk about that ending verse? literally my fav part of the song

as someone with no bias whatsoever, I don’t know anything about them or their music, I can say that per my own personal preference, this is best kpop song/chorus I’ve ever heard

given-taken is amazing and i loved it first listen but drunk-dazed absolutely blew me away i can't stop thinking about it, listening to it, and singing it
