Anki and UWorld Statistics | Correlation to USMLE STEP 1 (250+ Scorer)

- Hi Everyone! This week's video highlights my Anki stats and Uworld scores as I prepared for USMLE STEP 1. As a 250+ step 1 scorer, I hope this video can be helpful to all of you as you prepare for your upcoming exam. I am happy to answer any questions you all may have. Please remember that Anki and Uworld performances do not directly translate to test day performance but there definitely are trends that can point you in the right direction as your prepare for your usmle step 1 test! Great questions! I personally think 75% would be okay if you take step 1 P/F but I would try to do all of it before Step 1 for a score unless the 25% were things you felt very comfortable with!

hi! I saw that you went to UIC and I was wondering, do you think it is necessary for me to join the honors college if I want to be an applicant for UIC’s com in the future? would it make me more competitive or would i be fine without it?
Hi! I was a member of the UIC Honors college when I went there. I don’t think it would make that much of a difference when applying to the medical school but I think it does provide more volunteer and research opportunities. You also can get closer with Honors College faculty (who are awesome) which may help with future LORs. Additionally, the honors college gives out additional scholarships! That’s a nice bonus of being a member. At the end of the day, it’s probably not the deciding factor in medical school admission, but I do think it is helpful for the aforementioned reasons! One of my honors college advisors wrote my letter of recommendation to medical school as I was a member of the Honors College advisory board! Hope this helps and best of luck!! Go Flames!!!!
@@AustinNguyenMD Thank you so much for your reply!! If you don’t mind answering, which parts of your med school application would you consider made you a competitive applicant??
I would say that it’s a combination of the following 3 pillars: GPA/MCAT, Extracurriculars, and Essay/Interviews! Just doing what you genuinely enjoy and being able to write about those activities and also share personal accounts during interviews was really helpful! Medical schools want a well rounded applicant and not just a smart person!
Hey do you know how can i use the progress bar addon in the current anki version?
Great question! As of right now all of the add-ons update on their own. Right now I think progress bar is not compatible with newer Anki versions yet so you’ll just have to wait on an update unfortunately! You may also use an older Anki version such as 2.14! There’s not much of a difference and I still use an older version
@@AustinNguyenMD how can I downgrade anki without losing my cards etc?
You wouldn’t lose any data! You can backup your deck by click on the little bolt on the right of the deck and pressing export just in case. Typically you go to Anki.web and download an older version then install it and everything should work as Normal!

What would you say the correlation of USA2 is compared to step 1?
I would say slightly over predicts! It was 7 points over predicted for me if that helps! Good luck
