      Thank you man! I would recommend Uworld QBank and Amboss if you have time. For other resources you can use onlinemedEd or Anki flashcards (what I did)! Hope this helps my friend!

    Hey Austin, I’m currently gonna be a freshman in my 4-year college in the fall on the pre med route to applying to med school. Would you say that Anki can be used to help study for first year classes like Gen Chem or Biology and other classes like Biochemistry? And is it just a science based application or can it be used for other subjects outside of STEM? Your videos have really helped me get a good feel for what I will be doing to prepare to apply my junior year and I really appreciate it!

      Hey man! Congrats on starting college, great questions all around. I think Anki can be helpful but honestly it’s better for material that you’ll want to retain long term or prior to an exam. Normally I would say yes, but since you’ll be preparing for the MCAT, the overlap between your college courses and what is covered on the MCAT I don’t think is enough to justify using Anki and I would suggest using a premade deck 4-6 months prior to your MCAT later on in college. Anki can be used for all subjects! If you are taking hand notes I would suggest just using Anki instead. To be honest, I didn’t use Anki in college and just reviewed PowerPoints mostly 😂 but I think Anki would be more efficient and then you can just delete the deck you made after the class is done!

      @@AustinNguyenMD Thanks! That makes a whole lot more sense. But would you recommend that I start using ANKI for the MCAT now right after getting out of high school or should I wait till I take a couple of chem, physics, and bio classes so that I understand whatever the ANKI cards say?

    • @AustinNguyenMD
      @AustinNguyenMD  Před 2 lety +1

      I would recommend just focusing on crushing your classes right now! If you want to get ahead, I would suggest having the Anki decks all loaded up so that you can use it to cross reference with what you are learning in school and see what high yield topics are on Anki so that you can start unsuspending a studying the flashcards so you don’t forget any content from Gen bio, Chem, physics etc! But honestly if you just study hard now, you can quickly relearn most of these concepts using Anki in the year leading up to your exam. The latter may be a better option since if you start the Anki train now, you’ll have to study those flashcards everyday until the MCAT which is probably overkill since there’s much less material in the MCAT compared to the USMLEs (which actually will have you use Anki for over 1.5 years everyday). Hope this makes sense and way to go for being proactive and trying to get ahead! You’ll crush it! I would recommend just studying hard now and keeping Anki on the back burner for when MCAT prep comes around. Enjoy your summers and use the time off to build a well rounded application through unique ECs!
