    Thank you so much! You made my daughter's day and mine. We found an excellent running 2011 Highlander that was perfect for her. She was very understanding to sacrifice the backup cam she wanted in her car in order to get a more mechanically sound reliable vehicle in our budget.. and now we get to install it for her! Awesome day!

    I appreciated the comments about the factor AUX connector... wasn't sure why my wiring harness had 2 connectors instead of three. No steering wheel controls, and my new radio comes with it's own AUX mini plug jack. Great video!

    Great video @ProvoBeastAudio! Is there any way to use the factory metal brackets together with the TOYK989 Dash Kit or some other dash kit? The plastic brackets that come with the TOYK989 Dash Kit are flimsy and I would much rather use the stock metals ones.

    Hey...loved the video. Thinking about giving this upgrade a try. I did notice that the link to the Sony XAV-AX100 6.4 inches Car Play at Amazon says both 'renewed' and 'out of stock'. The alternative offered for a 2011 Highlander is a Double Din Car Stereo Radio Voice Control Apple Carplay & Android Auto, 7In HD LCD Touch Screen Bluetooth 5.2, MP5 Player with Mirror Link, Front/Backup Camera, USB/SD A/FM Audio Receiver, Subwoofer. Amazon has a model confirmation function, but 6.4 and 7" is a pretty big difference. Is this item really compatible using the stock brackets and trim pieces? BTW...I have the steering wheel controls and JBL speakers.

    I just bought a 2008 Highlander with the JBL system. It already has a Kenwood DNX693S Head unit with a maestro. I'm going to replace it as it doesn't support Android Auto. Can I reuse the maestro for integration? Or am I better off to just get a Crux 61J ? I'd like to retain the factory amp and sub. Thanks

    Wondering about all the various functions, so I wish you had demoed how it all works (camera, etc.) after the install. I'm also not a huge fan of the new faceplate where the old large knobs were on the side. Are there alternate looks for that?

    • @ProvoBeastAudio
      @ProvoBeastAudio  Před 2 lety +1

      We have a camera video that walks you through that. We didn't have steering wheel volume controls, or JBL, or any factory features you are asking for. Every radio's functions will greatly vary, so a demo won't do much good for others. Again, if you want to see the backup camera, see that video, linked in the description. No, all manufactures have to create some sort of dash kit to fill the factory knob holes, a pitfall of Toyota's dash design.

    get an android 10 head unit with the OEM-style look, which can also retain the use of the existing dials. It looks way better than this island-in-the-sea approach i.e. the centre head unit surrounded by boring black fascia.

There are other ones with slower hardware for $100-200 as well that are listed on Amazon. I like the idea of having the Joying because of the have firmware updates for it and the flush mount but I'm not dropping that much money on a headunit for 3.7 inches larger then the current headunit im gonna with and waiting 6 weeks for it.

      Which one did you buy? Glad you're able to tell us that a double din radio that's 6-7 inches doesn't fit as nice in a space that can hold a 10.1 radio. What a grand observation. Now how about you tell everybody which one you bought instead so maybe others can decide on what headunit they want in their car. Not to mention which one specifically comes with retaining the existing knobs, all the ones i've seen either have new knobs on the top of the unit, no knobs at all or faux knobs that are just plastic molds. I mean no hate btw, I've just been researching what to do for my 2012 highlander and there is limited info on the 10.1 units
