The Yamaha RX100 was the go-to bike for two-wheeler enthusiasts back in the 80’s and early-90s. Back then, the Yamaha RX100 not only set a benchmark for two-stroke motorcycles but also single-handedly changed people’s perspective towards motorcycling.
The Yamaha RX100 was launched in November 1985 and the company kept manufacturing it until March 1996. The government’s decision to pull the plug on all two-stroke motorcycles ended of the Yamaha RX100's reign in India. But the success story carries on even today
The RX100 was the result of Yamaha going back to the drawing room after the RD350 failed to light up the market. But even Yamaha couldn’t have anticipated the outcome of their radical approach, making the Yamaha RX100 the legend it is today. The best example of this is that enthusiasts are still willing to handover hefty amounts of money in order to own a well-maintained example of the RX100.
The Yamaha RX100 was powered by an air-cooled, 98cc, single-cylinder, two-stroke motor that produced 11PS @ 7500rpm. Power was sent to the rear wheel via a 4-speed gearbox. The company also claimed a 0-60kmph time of 7.5 seconds. Furthermore, the Yamaha RX100 was not only reliable but affordable as well, making it accessible to many. The performance and reliability factor made it a winner in the eyes of enthusiasts. In fact, the Yamaha RX100 became one of India’s best-selling two-stroke machines, until it was replaced with the RX-G.
The part that makes us spring with joy are the rumours of Yamaha reviving the RX100, but with a four-stroke engine instead. However, our excitement levels have dimmed down as there has been no official confirmation from Yamaha as of yet. So, till we get a solid confirmation on its comeback, we can only wait and anticipate that the RX100 will once again revolutionise the Indian two-wheeler commuter segment. Calculation of CC:-
For RX-100:-(1/2Bore Square × Stroke × 3.14 ÷ 1000.
That is 25×25×50×3.14=98125 ÷ 1000 = 98.125.
RX-100 is actually 98CC.
To calculate the CC You need to know the bore and stroke of an engine in mm.

@@SpeedyLio I have been regularly using RX-100 since April 1986.I do all the maintenance, modification s and overhauling myself.Some of the modification I have done:- 1)5 speed gearbox of Yamaha RXS-100 purchased in London, the model there comes with 5 speed gearbox.The complete set fits without any alterations.2)22mm Carburettor.3)Hy-Tech and Boyesen dual stage racing fibre reeds. streamlined and free flow reed block.
From Singapore:1)115cc cylinder along with std,2nd,3rd oversize piston kit.2)Two piece Clip on handlebars.
3)115cc cylinder head.
4) Compression gauge to check the compression.because without proper compression the engine will not run properly,no matter how much adjustments you do.
5) Tachometer gear set along with meter and cable.
Done port matching and raised exhaust port for top end power.

Porting is basically enlarging the intake and exhaust while boring is removing material from the inner diameter of the engine. Both porting and boring help in improving the performance of the engine/ bike. Porting and boring have to be done correctly with calculated formulas or else the engine will get butchered. If u want to improve ur Rx or any two strokes performance just change to a performance air filter, good spark plugs and mainly carburettor has to be tuned well as the air fuel ratio plays a major role as lesser the unburnt fuel equals more power.

Do we need to install bigger jets or can we keep the stock ones?
Some issues :
1. Porting formulas are there and it's not as simple as making the ports larger
2. A 175cc engine won't work very well because the crankcase is still designed for 135cc. If you bore out that much, then you also have to widen the head, which is possible but you can't change the crankcase
3. By Head porting he is probably talking about milling the head and reducing the volume of combustion chamber. This will increase the compression ratio, but there is one problem with it. The spark plug comes closer to the piston. That can cause more overheating issues. Its better to machine a different head with a smaller combustion chamber with the spark plug slightly away from the piston.
Also, in head, there is squish band which also affects power range. If you change it too much, then your power characteristics will also change.
Exhaust port height will also determine your head volume
4. 12 ports karne ki jarurat nhi h. 7 port me bhi Acha power nikala ja sakta h. Naughty nut ne 22bhp nikala h... with same port layout.
5. It would be better to modify the block and head to create a coolant jacket so that you can use a pump and radiator to make a primitive liquid cooling system.
6. block kharab hone pe poora block change karne ki jarurat nhi h. Sleeve bitha do ache se toh power theek se aayegi. Material aur port matching. Ye dono ka dhyan rakhna padta h

Hi dudes good to hear your experience all about upgrading,in also have kawasaki gto125 2stroke engine it's really a powerful machine but I there is a problem that cylender liner is end and there is no availability of cylender in karachi Pakistan 2nd option I have is to insert liner in it and most Of the guys told me it's just wasting to install cylender liner it never perform as it were before,it always get seats during fast run.so please I need a suggestion from you guys should I install liner or not...thanks regards...
Gto doesn’t perform good after replacing things in the cylinder. You should only get the cylinder

Volume of a cylinder - 3.14*r*r*h
I don't think that 1 mm which is the last number of rebore piston will make it even near to 140cc
Even if we talk about after market oversized pistons which goes upto 3 mm used for drag racing, will hardly make it reach 145 to 150cc.
For making it 175cc with the current stroke length, you will have to drill out the whole cylinder leaving no wall that the piston can slide around.
I too have done porting in my #Rx_135 #tiger_2004 👍💙

I'm certain that the speaker in this video has his facts inaccurate. One cannot increase 7 ports to 12 ports. One can only increase the size in the intake and exhaust ports, to increase the air-fuel intake flow and exhaust flow. All this is calculated. Also, the bore size, when recored, increases by stages of 0.25mm each. So, maybe it was the speaker's incorrect speech, but the RX's 132cc cylinder will not go up to 175cc or 200cc. This video is not accurate.
