You asked why not just let Subaru leave, but he didn’t leave. He claimed he would leave and then snuck back around. He (and us the audience) knows that he suspects an attack so he’s trying to defend the mansion, but to them, it looks like he lied and then is trying to do something suspicious (while holding a knife)

Love how much the red and blue ogre story relates to Ram and Rem. Subaru hit the nail on the head for how Ram feels, even if being metaphoric.
You can see Sabaru's heart break when he saw Rem trying to kill him.
Seriously, there are so many minute details to track in this story

You were told "Why it's Rem" in the last episode, one thing about ReZero that's done to perfection is the character dynamics and interactions, you'll see a character say or do something in one episode that directly relates to something in another.
For instance, you've already seen multiple examples of whats killing Subaru in episode 3 (no, I haven't spoiled anything, it was a character interaction guys) and it was then referenced in this episode and the pay off for that interaction isn't explained until season 2, but the breadcrumbs are there for everyone to see if you pick up the points.
To give a very basic hint, in the last episode out of Rem and Ram, who was the one who was the better servant for Roswaal? The answer will tell you why Rem is there.
what is the payoff for that interaction in s2? its been a while since i have watched this show so i dont really remember

in episode 3 there was a single thing said by this person that hints to things going on.
There was a pay off in S2 for it? Huh. Didnt even know, i just assumed rem didnt trust him to begin with so she thought.to rid themselves of him
@@Gee-bg2rv it's not Rem who I'm talking about, the hint comes from the other girl who is important to Subaru in season 2.
Rem here is acting without order, the situation was briefly described by Ram and Roswaal in episode 3 where Roswaal is worried about Rem acting out, but Ram reassures him.
Here, its more complicated as Rem never got to know Subaru in this loop, that's the biggest clincher for how others interact with Subaru, when he gets to know them their opinions change of him.

As I understand it, the Red and Blue orge (Oni) ia a Japanese story.
it is you can see same plot/storys in other manga/anime.. like in dragonball the red and blue onis in the hell or in my lofe story (oremonogatari) you have that story in reference too also in naruto you have the red and blue oni... and and and.. red and blue oni is a typical japanese folk lore its base like the 1+1
