- Figured I might as well talk about the new whip eh? It's a rather fun one so far! Very curious to try out the yellow one again soon...
A thank you to my sponsors!

I just wanted to let you know that you have a very soothing voice👍
This build triggers my OCD so hard. But I appreciate the extremely detailed and thorough bike check.
Fellow member of the "bike in the trunk" gang here. It's easy to put the bike in, you can stop at the pub for as long as you want, and it's easier to park. No need for a rack!
The pub point is huge. Friends had an incident involving a cut cable last year... Nope nope nope!
Fantastic stable of Norco rigs, DS. The Dissector looks awesome, appreciate the walk-around and the upgrade details. Already saw the maiden voyage vid, so, I know how well this thing is riding now. Enjoy!
Dale, nice check, and it's a sick rig for sure.... you guys did a great job!
I absolutely love my Range, you guys knocked it out of the park designing it. Looking forward to more videos of you enjoying all it can do
No bike rack gang represent ! Fits nicely in the back of a Veloster N ;)
Great colour. 👍
Thanks for the bike check Dale looks awesome. I’ve been running the dissector is a rear tire on my writtmo for two seasons with a DHF on the front, I really like the dissector. I think that they dissector is a nice mix between an aggressor and a DHR2 it seems to do pretty well on the wet also.
Awesome bike check! I liked the end especially as I usually throw my bike in the trunk. I did a 4-hour trip last year from Connecticut to Vermont with both my trail bike and enduro and I probably could have fit a third bike in a VW Passat (diesel power)! Love the videos as always keep them coming!
Awesome bike Dale! Also impressive fitting 2 bikes inside your model 3. I have yet to do the same in my Model 3, but glad to see it fits 2!!!
Not even a difficult task! 🙂
CZcams recommendation algorithm finally worked! Love your content sir. Dude, that really is a big-boy bike!
absolutely beautiful job you've done on that bike 👌🤘
Thanks Dale! Appreciate the bike check . Beautiful set up 🤙
Sweet bike Dale, loved the ending lmao
Wow Dale this definitely was the sickest bike to come out last year really nice work it won 11th place at Hardline wow
Sweet bike and thanks for the break down!
Fantastic mate. Just fantastic.
Beautiful bike!
Thats one serious machine!
Love the dank pod bgm you got on there
Hey Dale it's gorgeous! Happy for you bro.
I made some similar upgrades to my range c2! Wheels, brakes+rotors, Cush core XC in rear only, carbon one up bar etc.
and ya, Burke has made me want a 30T chainring.
I’d be thoroughly impressed if you can get up to deliverance with no walking.
Prepare to be thoroughly impressed, it certainly hurts though. 😆
great bike check! cannot wait to see where you take it this year. Brake rotor choice is a very unpopular opinion though :D. nice tesla aswell!
Awesome video, just started watching your channel.
Sick bike dude 🤘🔥
Love the frame color. Plus a bike rack might get caught on your extension cord for the car:)
i love this videos music, specially the dankpods's headphone test song
Nice bike check. I am riding a forbidden dreadnought in XL with a zeb, xt mix that weighs 34 pounds. That Norco ist heavy wow. Although dd tires, coil shock and heavier components.
I really like that you mentioned the l nameless mt520 brakes. They really are good for the price. The only downside you cannot use the same pads with cooling fins as in slx, xt if you wanted. Same goes to the Shifter. Xt in the front and does not matter which derailleur you use, you get the most features of the shimano drive train. While I am personally more into a matching color scheme, I dig the idea of just putting left over parts on the bike if they perform the same. Like the funny brake rotor setup. All in all that was one of the very few bike check videos on YT where I fully agree on everything you have mentioned. 👍👍
The brakes are definitely the biggest surprise here, they're fantastic!
I too transport my bike in my Model 3 with no issues. I’ve had a fair few comments about how it’s surprising I can fit my bike (it’s an XL) in there.
Underrated cargo capacity. Frunk for clean stuff and trunk for dirty!
There are very few cars that won't fit an MTB. I've put my XL Sight in my old Mini Cooper many times. Both wheels off of course. The Tesla is about 4 feet longer than the Mini- its big.
Wish I had a workshop like this.
This is good to differentiate you from dangerous Dave. When I first started watching you, I thought u guys were the same person cause of the bikes 😂😂
A gorgeous bike Dale! I never had the Dissector on my radar. I'll have to give it a look I guess.
It's been great so far!
I never really noticed the Dissector either, but it came as the stock rear tire on my new Kona and it works a treat!
Absolute smasher of a bike. Even the toughest of trails are scared of this machine lol.
I'm also scared of this machine. 🙈
Nice bike check Dale. Thorough as usual. Funny story/question about the quick release/no bike rack thing… in my early days of watching your channel about a year and a half ago (which also marked the early days of me taking up this sport), I was finishing a ride one evening on Burke and cruising down the paved section of Harper where people park. I saw some guy in the distance ahead unloading a yellow Norco from his black Tesla, with the front wheel off and presumably a quick release. Back then I didn’t know what you looked like. But I remember slowing down slightly and wondering if that was “Dale” ‘cause Dale rode a yellow Norco. But then I thought “Nah, Dale is an amazing rider and all my newbie research to that point suggested that quick release was a long abandoned technology on mountain bikes as it didn’t provide optimal stiffness through the fork. No way a rider as good as Dale would ride with a quick release wheel!” 🤣 So my question is: what are your thoughts on the conventional wisdom of quick release rims being inferior?
P.S. that random guy unloading the yellow bike gave me a pretty wide smile as I whizzed by, and to this day I feel bad about only giving him a trail nod in return.
Hahaha, if I could have a quick release on every fork I would! Just as stiff, only harder to hit a precise clamping torque. Until then I shall keep my 6mm handy in the trunk...
That background jazz is maddening
Maddeningly Good™.
Sick bike Dale, something quite different I’d say for your riding style but it seems to do the job the same way or better !
Random question, how did you help design this bike or what’s your day job ?
My day job is being a Bicycle Design Engineer.
@@DaleStone I'm curious you had to purchase a bike you helped design. No demo models or freebies?
Indeed I purchased this with my own money (at a slight discount consistent with all employees).
What a sexy bike
Just saw your video with VanCan at Alice Lake. Which bike do you have more fun on, this one or the Sight? I am about to purchase a new bike but now you have me thinking of going to a slightly burlier bike. I have always tended to underbike but more and more I think I have been making a mistake.
Depends what you classify as "fun"! My favourite bike is still probably my XC bike. I'd say go all-mountain if you like big days and Enduro/freeride if you like getting sendy. The right choice is whatever is in stock...
Amazing set up ! What do you think of the Norco shore?
It's a big ol' freeride sending machine! 🤘🎸🦅🍻
YAY!!!!
Question about the rear shock linkage: it looks like there is some lateral play where it connects. Assuming this is normal (?). Is this to avoid passing lateral forces on to the trunnion shock?
No lateral play to my knowledge!
@@DaleStone snugged up the bolt to 10nm and the play went away. Glad I asked!
FYI the play / rattle returned so I pulled the yoke/linkage apart and discovered my frame is missing the two #40 spacers (!). Bit surprised I haven’t blown the shock yet.
Here’s a quick video clip of the play I’m talking about:
www.dropbox.com/s/x031tsw9t15gpyy/IMG_9910.MOV?dl=0
Will pass along, and suggest you do the same!
Does the lower linkage hit the ground in rough terrain
Only on slow speed breakover angle stuff.
Has anyone ever built/designed a bike that utilizes two rear shocks? One expansion and one compression would mean you could tune each one too handle a more specific task instead of one shock trying to do everything well? Obviously I'm not a bike designer or an engineer but I can't help but think an expansion shock tuned for small bump sensitivity and a compression shock handling the big hits would make for a very smooth customizable suspension set up. Obviously there's gonna be added weight so this might be best suited for downhill bikes if it's even possible?
Happy Easter everyone.
Karpiel Armageddon... Sort of. Or Cannondale's more recent DH prototype.
@@DaleStone thanks for the info. I'll have to do some investigating 😉
Quick second question on the high pivot…. any worries in the design community about the longevity of a more complex setup like this with more moving parts?
A bit too far into conflict of interest zone here. Though I bought one, and I ride a lot. 🙂
@@DaleStone gotcha x 2 🙂
Beauty 🔥
What's your Sight weigh? I have the Alu version and it weighs almost as much as your Range 😆.
Sight was 31 or 32 something I believe.
Sick bike! May I ask what camera you used to film this video?
A fossil of a T2i.
Bikes looking sick Dale! Better get the bell on there soon! Been watching your videos for the last year, and in the coming month I have the opportunity to bring my bike with me (from Ontario) to Kamloops region; if there was one spot you could recommend to ride in BC where would it be?
Depends if you're a tech guy or a flow guy!
Actually, it doesn't matter haha. Squamish all the way.
@@DaleStone Well I gotta say, that is the answer I expected lol! I'll have to set aside some time to experience it!
3 weeks to a rear tyre is insane haha! How many miles would that be roughly?
Probably somewhere around 300km.
Hi Dale, I was kind of surprised to hear that you go through tires every 3 weeks. I know you're ride a ton but that seems crazy! What's the indicator for you to switch to new tires?
They have holes big enough to not hold air. 😅
@@DaleStone 😄
Does it come with knee pads? 😄
We have the same fork, and I'm always tinkering with mine. I'm curious about your settings based on your weight. High compression, low compression, psi, rebound.
I believe I stole the clicks from the Sight bike setup guide and pressure from the sticker on the rear of the lowers. Seems to be mint!
CushCore XC vs Air Liner? I'm about 160lbs and just threw an XC in the rear of my all mountain bike, but the air liner sure is a lot less expensive.
Also - didn't notice any sort of ridewrap / 3M tape job. What's your thinking there?
There is a medium tier ride wrap installed! As for which insert, I'm more of a fan of the airliner due to ease of installation, though I'm the biggest fan of the best price haha.
Aggressor or Dissector? Im mainly looking for a low rolling resistance enduro rear tire with acceptable cornering grip. Advice appreciated :)
I've not ridden an Agressor before, and have been pretty happy with the Dissector. Hard to beat a DHF/DHR classic...
Also, would you rather go DD or Cushcore XC if you had to decide?
For the rear I've chosen both. DD is to protect the tire, insert is to protect the rim.
@@DaleStone Makes sense, keen to try out the XC Version as its half the price of the normal Cushcore and im not that heavy. You think it also has the dampening affects of the regular insert?
The only reason I have an insert is to protect my rim and be able to run-flat as needed. Don't really know/personally care about tire damping qualities!
Is there a particular reason why your rear tire only lasts three weeks? I also run a DHR 2, max grip, exo+, but it lasts for 2-3 seasons, riding 4 times per week
Constantly punch holes straight through them with sharp rocks.
Max grip generally lasts around 6 months with no tire tears
Thats a sick build Dale 💥💥💥
Is it a Norco Sight?
And is ur car a Tesla
Bigger than a Sight, a Range!
@@DaleStone damn! That is one Freaking Hot 🔥 Range💕
did you ridewrap or any protection?
Comes with lots, but I added a mid-level ride wrap in high wear spots.
I am super jealous of your terrain. I live in Florida and while the trails are great for what we have here, it's nowhere near your tech.
And you can get another 2 folding bikes in the frunk
N+1...
Dale - Try Rimpact! Half the weight of cush core
Cushcore XC (which is what I've installed) is claimed to be 10g lighter than Rimpact even!
@@DaleStone If you weight the Rimpact for a 29 they are from 110 to 120 g. Not sure what the cush core is :) Less than half the price as a non industry dude :)
Amazing bike! You should consider trying out a Maxxis Dissector on the front wheel of your Norco Sight.
Would be pretty good I'd wager!
Heyo I was wondering if you could do a video talking about how you got your first sponsor
No need. All of my sponsors have reached out to me. 🥰
Sweet ride but clean it next time lol
A dirty bike is a happy bike, like a truck!
What bottle cage?
Literally have zero idea, haha.
Red goes faster
I have the same bike and ride in the same areas. My question is what is your height and bike size. ? AND.... It looks like your running a one up carbon bar with 20mm rise and 10mm spacers below the stem. I am experimenting with the stack height right now and am finding that I cant settle on a position. 20mm rise one up with 5 under the stem feels great and faast but steep g outs there is extra pressure on my wrists. 25mm bar and 5 under the stem. feels solid in steeps and g outs but I lose traction with the front wheel on mellower sections. What Bar rise and spacer combo are you running and Any suggestions are welcome on finding the goldilocks zone. BTW congrats on the Penthouse drop. you made it look smoooth!!
I believe I'm 176cm and chose a size medium. I feel it fits me perfectly for the kind of riding it was designed for. And you're right, 20mm rise bar with 10mm of stem spacers. Might drop the bars down 5-10mm as an experiment but quite happy as-is. Play around some more!
sweet. 👌 (Bike racks ruin fuel / eV efficiencey anyway...😜)
Exactly, muh aero!
Very nice bike, but where's the bell? ;)
Why don't you pivot the chainstay off the BB? Then you don't need an idler cog and there's no chamnge in chain length with bumps. You'd need to re-engineer the crank/BB.
Then your wheel moves forwards instead of backwards in the travel...?
@@DaleStone Like a motorcross bike.
Hey, what size is this?
I chose a medium.
@@DaleStone did you follow Norco’ recommendations for size? I’m 5’10” and feel the large is a bit big and I lose some leverage? I’m riding a revolver 120 fs1
@@rubberside3969 I usually get one size smaller; I like a smaller bike!
Don't your bikes ever get muddy, bike racks are handy if there's no wash station
Bike racks aren't aerodynamic enough for me! 😉
Rear tire choice was the same as your rekon isn't it... To trigger people
Nice tho the fork and hub doesnt match
For you specifically, Kelian. 👉👉
i swear to god dude. start wearing kneepads :3
You missed one thing . . . You forgot to wash your bike lol
Washing bikes is as over-rated as making your bed lol
@@DaleStone Seriously? SMH
@@lynnstone8958 and microwaves Mom.
what, no Range VLT? Don't you want to join the 55+ lbs big chungus crew? Awesome bike though, do you find yourself monster trucking over things as opposed to picking a more techy/trials line?
Big chungus requires big muscles to pilot. Of which I am lacking, haha. Need more ride time to accurately comment!
okay, now offset the idler
Which direction does your heart desire?
@@DaleStone In a perfect world -23.5, -15.2 from the main pivot if its moving with the rear triangle.
tesla is a great car.. but diassamble bikes to get it into a car aaaahhhhhhh give me itch!! hhuahua
its an ugly bike
