According to Joey and Terry who are commercial lobster fishermen in this area, besides people, sheepheads are the #1 lobster killers.

Rockfish season in southern California didn't start until April 1, 2023.

I catch these California Sheepheads in San Diego, we use Ghost Shrimp, baby black mussel that are pry of the jetties, under beach pier pillars on very low tide. There are sheepheads in La Jolla by the kelp forests and off the sunset cliffs area down here. I've never caught them in the San Diego bay, over here it's more open ocean. Yes in certain areas.
