This was a fantastic video. I have been working on our cars for years. I have watched a bunch of horrible videos that were not very helpful. This was a perfect how to guide. Tips, torque specs, great camera placement. You took some time on detailing this job. Well done and 2 thumbs up. I subscribed.
Thanks for the time and effort to make this video. I recently took my 2017 escape to the shop, and got this repair priced around 500 USD. Definitely think I will do the next replacement, will be re-watching in the future.
Great video, I used it to replace the LH axle seal on my wife's 2013. It's the same process on the left side, except there is no bracket to hold the axle bearing on the left side. Thank you.
Thank you for the instruction video. I'm getting ready to replace my passenger side CV axile on my 2013 Escape. Your video gave me so much more confidence. Very well done.
Glad I'm not the only one who has trouble with the OEM lugs on this car. They're always a pain in the butt. Finally replaced them with some doorman's hallelujah
The question I have that I cannot find an answer to is what clockwise orientation the new one should be at, is there a top facing and down facing side of the cv axle? Or is it universal?
Everything was really good I just can't get it out of where the rotor fits into. Does that mean it seized in there? Do I hit it with a hammer? You didn't show how you got it out of that part
I watched your other video of the driver side replacement cv axle, would that be a good carry over to the driver side of a 2017 Ford Escape? I’m watching both videos multiple times to be prepared regardless. Thank you for your time and knowledge sir!
Yes , it should be the same. What ever amount of tran fluid drains out , replace that amount . Only other tip is to avoid hitting the cv axle seal , and monitor the seal after replacement for any leakage even if replacing with a new one. Thank you for watching.
Great vid used it to follow along... Its sorta like wrestling alligators but all good lol...don't pry on the sway bar link...it's a bugger to get back on.
Thanks for making this video, it is precisely what I was looking for. It appears you have a drip-pan underneath. Did you need to drain and/or top-up fluid afterwards?
I did not lose much fluid but usually I like to drain out as much as will drain and refill the exact amount. However if the transmission fluid is clean I would just add back whatever drains out. Thank you for watching.
Does the seal need changed with the joint? I did mine today and noticed its now leaking where the joint goes in the transmission. Did I damage the seal? I was so careful, I don't see how I damaged it. Is it possible some will leak out just from taking it out without draining the transmission fluid? Thanks!
@@s33therfan I noticed just a little bit when actually changing the shaft, after I test drove it about 25 miles, when I got back and parked it, it now appears to have a steady leak. I think I might have ruined the seal. I'm not sure if I can get away with replacing just the seal, or if I need to do the bushing as well. Know of a bushing and seal removal/install kit for a 6F transmission that isn't a million bucks?
@@s33therfan I think I'll start there. I wish I had a tool kit for the bushing and seal. I appreciate your advice and time. Thanks! Gawd, I've had it apart twice already, I hope to heck the 3rd time is a charm!
OEM Part for 2017 FWD is CV6Z-3B437-A for the driver's side and CV6Z-3B436-AX for the passenger side. Does anybody know the Front Drive Shafts Seal part number? Please respond here.
I have a 2018 ford escape se and I did pull the CV axle out on the front passenger side and on the inner side of the bar had a fitted seal shield on it. The one you pulled out didn't have one. Even the one that was shipped to me didn't have on it. Do I need it? Or do I need to buy another one with that shield on it. Thank
It is not entirely necessary. I get replacements all the time that don't have these shields. Having said that , I have in the past transferred them over from the old cv axle . Great question and thank you for watching.
Usually the boots start showing signs of dry rot and leakage. Also you might have a popping clicking noise when turning , most noticeable at slow speeds. I have also had severe vibration from bad cv axles. Thanks for watching.
I just paid Ford 700+ to replace CV axle & for some reason they also replaced tie-rod end? Why would they replace a good tie rod ? BTW- they didn't Re-align the front-end. So, it's back at Ford for alignment. Free. As they SHOULD have did alignment after replacing part that wasn't even bad. Ford lost a customer . 60k miles & was getting a little shaking when turning right. Seems a common problem with these cars? Thanks for the great video.
These dealership prices can really add up in a hurry. Not sure why they had to replace both but definitely they should have aligned it before letting the car go. Thanks for sharing and I appreciate the feedback.
Had my 13 escape up on the 2 post lift today and noticed my driver side fron cv axle has slack INSIDE the trans it literally moves up n down with a redicules amount of slop. Thought it was a bad cv till I took a closer look so.....good job ford your loosing loyal customers with your crap cars. I just replaced a defective pos rear differential BAD from day one from the factory !
Great video, very helpful and informative. I will be changing my cv axel and will be using your excellent video as my guide. Thanks again.
You are welcome!
One of the best made videos of this type I've ever seen. Good pace of instruction, clear words, GOOD LIGHTING and angles. Well done! Most appreciated!
Thank you for the terrific feedback , it is much appreciated.
This is the best instructions video so far I have been watching. 👍
Thank you very much.

Very Helpful. Patient instructions are hard to come by these daya. Thank you.
Thank you for the kind words .
Super Helpful saved alot of time for me just gathering the tools needed for the job.
Great Job Great Information
Thank you for the excellent feedback.
I don't think you showed how you got that CV joint out of where the rotor is attached to
Getting ready to do both sides of my wifes 2018 escape Good video man!
Thank you very much.
@@s33therfan You're welcome! Have a good one
Very good except you should put loctite on the caliper bracket bolts like they do at the factory.

This is a great video but why didn’t you put the same cv axle that you took out instead of a new one? Just asking.
Thanks. I have this problem on my 2013 Esc

Yes , you may have some drain out when removing it . Just replace what you lost which is probably minimal. Hope this helps.

Do you know if this will work on an 18” 1.5 escape?
Should be the same . Thanks for watching.
Hi! Any symphtoms of failure?? Thanks!
You should hear a popping noise when turning like in a parking lot at slow speeds. Thanks for watching.
@@s33therfan thanks
Is this the same for the rear wheel
The procedure is somewhat the same. Thanks for watching.
Anyone happen to know if these instructions would be the same with the 2.5L 2WD model?
It should be almost identical. Thanks for the feedback.
