    Butterfly Vision is a film about Lilia, a soldier, returning home from the front line after being held captive for two months. She discovers that she is pregnant after being raped by her warden. Will she manage to survive this trauma and save the child in a society that is not ready to accept either of them?
    SPEAKER
    Khrystyna Lizogub is a Ukrainian cinematographer, who has worked on films including Butterfly Vision (2022), School Number 3 (2017), and Yours Vasyl (2020).
    MODERATOR
    Olesya Khromeychuk is a historian of 20th century East-Central Europe, specialising in Ukrainian history. She has a PhD in History from University College London. Olesya has previously taught at King’s College London, the University of East Anglia, University College London and the University of Cambridge. Originally from Lviv, Olesya moved to the UK in 2000, since when she has been actively engaged in the life of the Ukrainian community in London and beyond. She is the author of ‘Undetermined’ Ukrainians. Post-War Narratives of the Waffen SS ‘Galicia’ Division (2013) and The Death of a Soldier Told by His Sister (2022). She has written for The New York Times, The New York Review of Books, Der Spiegel, the Los Angeles Review of Books, Prospect and The New Statesman.
