  • ‪@emeraldguitars‬ is taking carbon fiber guitar construction and design to the next level, and really pushing the artform and engineering into the future. In this video, I'm checking out their brand new "Solace" Weissenborn-Style Lap Guitar, but they have a HUGE range of acoustic and electric guitars as well. Check out their website, but make sure you have an hour or so, because you'll definitely get lost in the guitar-a-holic rabbit hole!

      @@timontide6404 absolutely agreed... with just a slightly heavier string set I've had very nice results in tuning it down a minor 3rd from D to B.. which is very complimentary for baritone guitar thinking.. also the decrease in string tension allows you to play more like a guitar... Really is very much like a mandolin in D.. and a good idea to keep a few extra Nines in the bag.., tuned either way they sound amazing Amplified... There's nothing to compare to

He is also a fine Celtic-traditional picker, and an occasional songwriter as well; "Never Any Good", written about his errant father, is as good as Dylan or Joni, and not as dark as you might expect.

    Your playing is always amazing no matter what instrument you pick up. This is a beautiful instrument but I have never been a fan of piezo pickups. Thay have a flat sound for lack of a better way to describe it. When you put the mike on it the magic started to happen. Much more rounded tone. But then, we all have our preferences. It would be interesting if this company could come up with a mike system similar to what Taylor does. But again, you always amaze with your playing!

    • @aniquinstark4347
      @aniquinstark4347 Před 2 lety +3

      I honestly don't know why piezos still exist. These days you can get miniature condenser mics mounted directly to the guitar and that amplifies the sound much more naturally so you actually hear the acoustic tone through the amp/PA.

    Great demo! I've got an Emerald X-20 and, body and sound wise, it's like a mix between a concert size and a dreadnought. Acoustically, it will keep up with traditional wood guitars, no problem and it's a thing of beauty. This Weissenborn seems to be in the same category. Other than good tone, playability, and looks, one of the main features I like about the Emerald carbon fiber is its strength and resistance to climate changes. I bought it after I had a bridge pop off of my 78 Yairi due to very high heat and humidity when I was visiting my wife's family in the tropics. I also live in the northern US, and we get everything, but the Emerald doesn't care: cold, hot, dry, humid, they don't affect the guitar (apart from the strings, of course). Anyway, Emeralds are expensive, but they are a really good instrument and worth it IMO. My other acoustic is a Martin, and I won't part with it, but I would never subject it to the climate extremes that the Emerald just shrugs off.

    Just like the Irish accent, their guitars sound beautiful too!

    I felt like Justin was staring at me in the thumbnail saying "You want this guitar".

    Justin , your content is amazing. At 62, I can’t be totin around that SG, I just look really stupid.I am so inspired to take my playing in a new direction thanks partly to you. While I can’t afford some of those guitars you’re playing, the music is inspiring!
