@@AtomicTheCherry At the end of the day, we are still looking at a screen displaying from the cameras in the headset. It would be really cool if we actually had all these feature on a proper Augmented Reality device.

Technology advancing this much is starting to make me feel like sci-fi movies aren't that fictional anymore
this is literally stuff that we already had though, this is just VR and VR has been a thing for a long time and Google had Google Lens which is infinitely more impressive because they weren't just VR Goggles, they were actual glasses you can see through with a screen. The only reason they flopped is because it was too expensive and don't have a loyal and braindead fanbase like Apple. If you look back, the public reaction to both is the exact same but the difference is that with the Vision Pro, people are actually buying it because again, braindead loyal consumers
This is a very basic concept thats already been invented for a long time. Apple is just very good at advertising

VR/AR is simply amazingly the best technology I had ever used since the first pc but the downside is that it is not marketed very well. Most of the vr headset out there are uncomfortable to wear but the capabilities alone really makes it far better than anything else

Additional to the cooking part that I found it super cool. It seems that you can open multiple timers and place it on top of the pot that you're timing it. (I'm too poor to buy it so it was based on what I saw on other people's video)

Yep, agreed. Ya know the product is priced way too high when I had near $80k stashed away in the bank I could play with an still could not justify the expense, or when someone like Joey, likely a millionaire by now, is not able to justify the expense either. He had it pretty spot on, at half the price it hits the mark in usefulness for the cost.
The concept is absolutely great but the price point is crazy. Maybe later models will be better as well.

I think if there was a VR headset that runs on an Open Source OS like Android or Linux, and I can install a custom privacy centered OS on the headset like how you can do it with a Pixel phone and GrapheneOS, then I would be happy to get one. But since it would take a few years for that to happen, I will hold off on buying my own Apple Vision like VR headset until then. That being said, I understand the potential utility of this technology and can see how it could be used in various situations in the future.

That’s actually quite futuristic. I’ll be honest I didn’t think something like this would exist in our time, at least not so soon. Imagine it in fifty years. It’ll be in a pair of glasses or it’ll maybe even be like a focus from the Horizon games. Think about the technology from fifty years ago. It was pong arcade machines and wired phones. It’s kind of crazy to see how fast technology is advancing.
One of the things about comfort is you have to actually spend some time adjusting and trying the different straps to find what's going to be comfortable long term. I can't do the solo band. The dual band is SO much more comfortable for me. Even then, I spent a fair amount of time doing different strap adjustments to make sure it sat evenly along my forehead and cheeks.
I suspect that a third party band that uses a rigid halo style design which keeps most or all of the pressure off your face would be best, but Apple probably thought it would look too goofy. That was a mistake. It already looks really damn goofy. Comfort is more important.

The main use I can see for this is for industrial designers showing the team the 3D model and where they could change stuff etc. For personal use I think its overkill (and outside the home potentially dangerous, lets say the cameras showing the outside world die etc.) For recipes I already have a tablet
This is amazing. Now they just need to optimize and reduce how massive it is and hopefully in the future it will be just like an eyeglass.

since the start of augmented reality, ive been only able to think of yugioh, with this the reality of it feels so much closer
