I wish Timesplitters would get a reboot/remake, the series needs to come back.
There is a small group working in a rework of the games! It’s slow progress but it looks fantastic. The devs have been uploading their progress on CZcams
The new one is on its way so remakes aren't entirely out of the question

I love seeing people make videos about Timesplitters, but I know it's really quality content when I come away with so much new and insightful information about one of my favourite games.
This series deserves more. I'm happy to see people speedrunning & need to replay it myself. One of my faves growing up

I actually remember playing this a handful of times as a kid, I genuienly had no idea what I was playing or what was going on and really only ever got to the second mission, I've thought back to it a handful of times wondering what the actual hell that game was, but am suprised and pleased to see this pop up in my recommended.
i found ur channel through dante ravioli and ur one of my favorite people on youtube. you’re very niche and different compared to everything else i watch, but i still enjoy your videos the most. i just like seeing games that i’ve played casually getting dissected. having game mechanics get explained down to the small details. idk im rambling, but point is, you’re my favorite creator on youtube. i always watch while eating or relaxing and it brings me comfort.

I used to LOVE playing TimeSplitters 2 with my buds at sleepovers when I was younger. Wacky games that definitely deserved a remaster. A remake would be even better; I feel like these games were ahead of their time.. I bet they could do really cool things with the time-travel aspect on modern hardware+engine.
Edit: I had to rewind and make sure Limp Bizkit isn't actually just 1 guy in 5 different poses/clothes. They all look weirdly similar 😂

I think no one used the box skip in SS because it is a recent find and few people do SS, I'm not even sure it was known when redacted did his SS and for Lapogne, I think after years of inactivity, he just decided to SS TSFP out of the blue, he just used strats he was familiar with, did 2 attempts and got WR.
The SPEED that I clicked on this video when I saw it!! This was one of my favourite childhood games too and it's amazing having some insight into the speedrunning side of it. Also really happy to hear that you got this game its own KBM category and sparked some more interest in it
The Arcade Shooter genre died with Timesplitters Future perfect. Choosing a stage, choosing a weapon set, a bot set, powerups etc. I miss this genre

Timesplitters 2 in its entirety is included in Homefront The Revolution. It was thought that you could only play one level but there’s codes to unlock the whole game.

More shooters need to structure their gameplay in what I call a "Goldeneye" shooter (as goldeneye first did this, then Perfect Dark, then TimeSplitters. More broadly, I would call these "gauntlet shooters".
In these shooters, you NEVER get health pickups. You have to slog through the game and AVOID getting hit. To incentivize this method of gameplay, difficulty doesn't come in the form of enemies per se, but comes in the LENGTH of the level increasing with difficulty - these games give you more actual things to DO as the difficulty goes up, presenting more raw opportunities to be shot at.
To balance this, enemies take some time to 'adjust' to you presence when they spot you (this was originally done in Goldeneye as a way to balance the (by modern standards) awkward controls, but it acts as a core balance feature in Timesplitters 2. To ad to that balance, limb shots cause enemies to stumble, and headshots ALWAYS kill. The guns can aim independently from the view camera to facilitate pinpoint shots.
Thus, the level becomes a 'gauntlet' where the goal is to get from one end to the others while performing perfect shots and avoiding as much damage as possible. It's not like a boomer shooter, where there's health everywhere, and you're allowed to do things like rocket jump, and it's not a modern shooter with recovery - it's about resource management, as you get NOTHING to restore you health - you get body armor (in some cases) which unlike most games - where it takes a 'threshold' of damage away - a 'gauntlet shooter's' body armor is a layer of health that must be depleted before you lose your base health.
You're rewarded for you efforts with more raw content, unlike other games - Using Timesplitters 2 and its first level as an example, the following happens:
Easy - Get from one side to the other and leave
Medium - Get from one side to the other, THEN fight your way backwards, through a zombie outbreak
Hard - All that, + boss fight with a helicopter.
Not only this, butthe higher difficulties are locked until you beat the easier ones, incentivizing mastery and giving you a REASON to get better - I barely play a game beyond medium not because I don't like a challenge, but because often, there's no additional content or reward for playing higher difficulties ,and most games merely change ammo/health/damage amounts and call it a day - so there's honestly nothing NEW for doing so.
If I may poke you on it, I think it would be an interesting video topic to cover and get into the public consciousness - I would like to see more games like this made.

Good choice with timespliters and a game that needed some extra love
Timesplitters 2 and Future Perfect got backwards compatibility on Xbox Series X/S about a year back. Runs super well, and is about as close to a modern port of the games that exists.
The classic controller pro on the wii was basically an improved gamecube controller, but hardly any games actually used it unfortunately, outside of Monster Hunter Tri and a couple of others, but that controller is legit!
I remember playing Timesplitters 2 on my ps2 when I was very young. Legit couldn't get past the Notre Dam level because I got too scared.
