  • The making of a tooled vegetable tanned leather pocket knife slip case. In this video I show the process of how I make this leather pocketknife case from start to finish. From cutting out the leather, tooling the basket weave design, applying dye/finish and saddle stitching the case together. I use 1.8 mm vegetable tanned leather lined with .5 mm pig skin to keep the inside of the case clean and the knife protected. I hope you enjoy this leather craft video on how to make a leather pocketknife slip case.

    You are obviously very skilled at this stuff. You should do how-to videos on the basics for beginners. God bless. Thanks for your videos.

    Awesome video! Do you apply any sort of resist coating before applying your antiquing, or just buff the excess dye off then apply your antiquing? It's my first time using an antique finish and I love how yours turned out! Keep up the great videos!

    Your work is very nice. Just getting started, myself. Leather crafting was suggested to me as a hobby and diversion from a technology-heavy career (5-axis machine tool programming), and a creative outlet. I'm kind of intimidated, to be honest, isn't that funny, lol! How long would a project like this take an experienced person like yourself, if I may? Thank you for the video, very inspiring!

    • @KingdomGloryLeather
      @KingdomGloryLeather  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks for the kind words. I also was very intimidated when I started (not having a clue what I was doing) but you have to just start off small and get 1% better with each project. If I had to start and complete that knife case in one session without stopping I would say it would take anywhere from 3 to 4 hours.

    Very nice work, also a very pleasant video to watch.
    I assume the tape on the fleshside is there to prevent the leather from stretching during tooling, what kind of tape is that, i've never seen that before?

    • @KingdomGloryLeather
      @KingdomGloryLeather  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you. Yes you are correct, it is to prevent the leather from deforming. It is heavy duty packing tape.

    • @KingdomGloryLeather

    • @KingdomGloryLeather
      @KingdomGloryLeather  Před 2 lety

      I believe the leather thickness was around 1.5mm and the interior liner was around 1mm thick. So about 2.5mm total.
