When we're not working on cars, we're watching the Grand Tour!

Can come from everywhere. Just clean it up and do a test drive, completely warm engine. Good luck, Nico.
Would love an update on that big brake kit from last year. A whole lot of us are waiting for a good review of them to see if we should pull the trigger.
Also would love to see you track that car to properly stress test then still - I know you were hoping to.
I’ve not been happy with how they have aged tbh. But, after seeing a genuine set on the m4 maybe they are all a bit meh.
I’m convinced BMWs reject coolant.
I've had leaks that dry on the block and never hit the ground.
The pressure tester is a great tool, I'd leave it on there for a few hours to simulate a long drive ;)
Too many years in the trade and BMW owner.😎 You will often get coolant leaks to show up under a pressure test as the system cools and pressure reduces, go figure 😉
i have a leak on my original stock radiator. just found it last week. sneaky bugger was on the intake side top corner right where the bend comes out from the tank before the top hose part of the tank. small bead of coolant weeping out after pushing the car and wiping it. quick smart upgraded to aluminium radiator from mishimoto. csf or pwr would be better for your setup (thicker).sneaky because you cannot see any cracks. others have this issue there's a photo of it in e90 forums. you will see the coolant trail when dry. so sneaky this leak!
Watching and all I can think is damn I wish I had a hoist... jack stands suuuuuuuuck 🤣
That sound brings back memories 😀
Boys I had an issue just recently where my FG after a long drive would just dump 1L of coolant and I had similar issue it would dump on a completely different side!! My issue was believe it or not overflow bottle cap as it’s designed to pressurise the system and let the coolant out at certain pressure now it gets weak and just can’t hold pressure and it’s just dumps it!! Maybe put another one on fill her up and go for a quick drive!! I’d suspect due to racing similar happened and coolant went everywhere!! Hope it’s something that simple
You giving shit to your past self was a hilarious touch, as a future reference point, my n54 leaked 3 different palces, 1 showing right after the other when fixed. I ended up spending I think 20 usd? and bought all the orings for the whole cooling system, changd them all and no more leaks, 3 years in still dry.
The ceramic coating review is quite useful, thought of it for a while but faaar to many hyper clean freaks said it wont last more than 2 months yet here you are almost a year in and still ok.
That’s not a bad ideal with the orings, should do the lot when I do the single conversion…. Hmmm.
And yeah, coating has had such a hard time and it still heads water so well. It’s a black car which is also a nightmare and it’s made it so much easier to look respectable.
I had a similar issue a few years back, When driving the car it wouldn't leak, once I turned the car off and let it sit it would then leak. Was a hole in the radiator.
The second time it was from a turbo coolant line as the o-ring was pinched. Was very hard to diagnose these two leaks.
Great content as always..can you do a toolbox review😄
The coolant pipe to the cartridge of the second turbo must be replaced!
And then replacing the cylinder head gasket...
I had a hairline crack in my radiator end tank right at the hose you were showing. It would only leak when it was at operating temp and pressurized. When I had one from underneath it was because an oring in one of the hoses to the water pump. I had just changed the pump so knew it wasn't that.
Yess! Axle snapping launch control is always amusing
I'm sure you'll get to the bottom of it 👍🏻
Ceramic coating looks mint still
Trying to track where oil leaks and coolant leaks come from is sometimes difficult. I have seen oil leaking from the OFH end up at the rear of the engine where you are seeing the coolant. My guess is that some of the leaking coolant has been forced along the bottom of the engine by the air flow while your car was being trailered back to the Sunshine Coast. I would imagine the coolant temperature would have been getting fairly high while roll racing and when you parked it up, the temperature probably raised further causing the O ring to leak.
Add some liqui moly radiator stop leak if the leak isn’t too bad such as yours
I had that same hose quite literally explode on me while driving, completely sheared where it connects to the oil filter housing!
Pressurised cooling system after cool down ? The last time I had that, was in an M54 with pulled head bolts! Maybe try looking for leak with a hot engine and system? Good Luck.
Very much looking forward to seeing some launch control vids!
we have the same first quality first racing inlets... yours are probably the 2" ones though for your 17ts. I spy some blue vacuum hoses too down the left side of the block. I've read just squeezing the coolant pipes won't make coolant come out. Instead, you have to rub/squeeze them towards the suspected leak.
shhhhhh, my engine had heaps of blue hose when i first got it.
Coolant leaks and oil leaks have always been the Bane of my existence with my BMW's lol
Could have got there with the wind when driving… I would clean it all, leave it on the hoist and check for leaks again the next morning👍🏻
Ah bmw. I am experiencing the same issue. No leak when pressurized, when cooling down puddle on the ground. Cant find the issue. About to put a camera and timelaspe this thing from below...
Man its a frustrating leak, better than the type that will leave you stranded, but harder to find. My guess is one of the orings in the main radiator hose. Good luck tracking it down.
@@ZeroTo60Tube i just ordered an entire cooling system oring kit. Lets hope it doesnt come down to that! Thanks! I'll need the luck for sure!
So if coolant or oil gets on the ridge below the vacuum pump/HPFP/Crank sensor, it will pool there and can leak through the weep hole and flywheel lock hole.
Oh, those N54 feels 🤔🤔. Hence my number plates....
I would love to know where JD gets his ceramic coating from, that is excellent durability!
@J B cheers mate, appreciate that. I had heard about Silca Carbide coming out, would be extremely durable, that's for certain. I often get asked to do some paint correction (I only do that for friends though) and had been asked about my thoughts on Ceramic Coatings and while the hybrids you can buy off the shelf are ok, they don't stand up to much.
Oh, and I still have Carnuba wax on my shelf 😉. I'm old....
Cheers man.
Black can look dirty half an hour after a wash. It's a bugger. 😊 BTW can you please, please tell me where I can buy parts for my E39's. I need a new tailshaft for a start. I'm in Brisbane. Clickable sell SOME things but...
Love the videos, what’s the plan with the RX-8s?
Once we have some genuine spare cash, good one will be registered. The one with low comp, well it needs a 13b rew swap and zf8 trans. 13b turbo transbrake mix with zf8 shift speed should be a blast.
Just notice you have an advan performance sticker on the car. Adam would be surprised considering his in Sydney and your in Sunny coast
Yeah I think advan fitted the jb4 back in the day. Car was originally a Sydney car. Jb4 was a pre 2015 model so it was done long long ago
@@ZeroTo60Tube that is along time ago
My n52 has a coolant leak in the same spot. My car only leaks a little after I shut the car off.
Did you find the source of the leak?
What if you put semen in it, then hit it with a black light in the dark like a CSI episode a couple of days later. Should be able to find the dirty villain after that. 😂
But surely there’s gotta be some additive out there that helps trace coolant/oil leaks ?? 🤷🏼♂️
Who did the ceramic coating?
GREEN COOLANT 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃 bmw is very upset
What coolant do you use for that n54??
Man anything is fine. It’s a near 20 year old engine.
What exhaust system did you get from downpipes to the rear?
It’s a miltek it was on the car when I got it. It’s quite large, but very quiet.
Are you done with the differential brace or is it going back on?
I wish I could find an honest shop that would do a ceramic application on my car. Everyone wants to rip you off with other BS you don’t need or say they did something but don’t do it and just take your money.
No no, need a brace ASAP. But my original one won’t fit the dct diff.
Must be Chinese coolant! 😅
I AM FIRST~!!!
Yes you are!
@@ZeroTo60Tube mate id replace the o-ring first, they are notorious to sweep after disturbing the seal
