The Argentinian has worked wonders at the club, producing stars like Rodri, Partey, Griezmann, and Diego Costa, as well as beating Barcelona and Real Madrid to two titles, but the team is no longer what it was, and a new coach, like Thomas Tuchel or Mauricio Pochettino, might be well pleased to usher in a new era. Luis Enrique makes perfect sense for los colchoneros. He will atleast guarantee they remain a top club and compete for la liga every year. A better playing style and more attacking football will be the order of the day if he takes the hot seat . if they can get him, i think he is a better option and coach than both Poch and Thomas

Bringing Enrique gives a new style which can help them evolve into a full European giant
Tuchel is also defensive and at some point will face the same problem like Simeone

We need a good striker. The guys we have miss way too much. We need a lot more stuff, including a manager change, but the striker situation is glaring

Luis Enrique will be perfect fit. with the talent atleti have in academy & in squad + spanish + he's similar to cholo in terms of how he portrays himself wether in press conference , in the field. + it will be long term project with luis he won't demand too much signings like tuchel which obv. The owners can't give . + Atleti doesn't need to do overhaul with luis. But they still need to kick out few players. but they got talents in youth.
As an Atleti fan… Luis and Tuchel sound great but I rather see klopp. Luis Enrique’s heart is in Barça and feel he won’t be as connected but I could be wrong. Klopp or Tuchel.

Just to point out La Liga this season had lost their faiths on having big clubs win such a bigger game. Sevilla and Valencia are even in danger of being relegated. Previously, they were known for huge successes. Valencia played two Champions League Finals and won 2004 UEFA Cup (Europa League), whereas Sevilla are totally dominated the Europa League with 6 wins!
I prefer Luis Enrique, even more he has more potential to become The New coach based his relation with the club. I would love to see huge changes in the club especially the way system been served. Enrique would give clear system with attacking game play, I think the depth squad deserves and could be able to play attacking football and possesion tho. Simeone time should be done, its enough for defensive football.

Atletico always were either third second or first best attack in la Liga during simeone reign(measured by goals ofc). They are more offensive than you think. It's just that simeone minimizes risks.

"Weakness of La Liga," lol so basically, even at their weakest, La Liga is still better than the Premier League. The head to head last decade plus is insanely one-sided, as are the number of trophies won.

Atletico had the perfect opportunity to become a giant of Europe when Simone started falling a bit if they have either changed their identity by getting a new coach or making moves on younger players but that ship has already sailed.

A playing style that wins them trophies
there's more than one way of playing football. Although it's not pretty, it's effective
I am one of the minority that enjoy that playstyle. Defensive playstyle is artistic. There are even defensive players in chess like tigran pitrossian, people find it too defensive and annoying but it won him major trophies.
