Iaquinta, the guy who beat Lee twice, stepped up instead, Khabib dominated him, and then Khabib went on to dominate the former champion who'd been stripped for inactivity. Khabib beat RDA less than a year before RDA became champion. The only reason RDA became champ was because Khabib was out of the picture with injuries. Tony, meanwhile, only beat RDA after RDA lost the belt. What unification bout? In the world of merit, there was nothing to unify.

    I think the fighter pay conversation should be MUCH more about how the average fighter is often struggling to survive despite risking their bodies for our entertainment. A tiny number of stars fighting over millions just isn't the same thing and doesn't do a THING for the average fighter.

    • @x80five50
      @x80five50 Před 2 lety +8

      I remember hearing stories about fighters having part-time jobs and fighting in the UFC. My initial reaction was it's not right. However, my stance has changed over the years. Fighters shouldn't sign bad contracts because they are desperate to fight in the UFC. Go to Bellator (44/56 split) or the PFL. The entire argument takes away from personal responsibility. How will you ask me, as a fan, to care about you if the fighter doesn't care about themselves? Also, work on your craft more. Izzy said he wasn't ready for the UFC initially. He perfected his craft before he joined. He also has the personality that will make people watch. The same with Paddy. Both have a growing fanbase. Not everyone needs to be old McGregor on the mic, but you have to captivate people to watch fights.
      Omalley stated that he was going to take his time up the ranks. He's doing the same as Izzy and Paddy but in the UFC. It's about getting people to care.

Go back and watch the fight... The look in his eyes after the last round ended was the last we seen of el cucuy.... The fire is still there but father time is undefeated.... I know because I'm 40. I still got my power my endurance and my speed... But the aches and pains that go along with that slow you down. Tony Ferguson will always be one of my favorite fighters 🕺🔥🔥 His heart is bigger than both of his hands combined 🤙
