@@pramitpratimdas8198 I guess we have different perspectives. From what I gathered escapism was at least partially his motivation. Especially in the court scene when he describes his real life living in poverty, impersonating Makhmalbaf allowed him to escape reality and live in his fantasy of being a famous director.
You could say that since he admits that he enjoyed the respect and admiration the ahankhan's had for him when told them he was the famous director but also he wanted to have food and a place to sleep.
i couldnt finish the film. it just made me so sad. i really wish someone couldve helped him in his goals to pursue a career in film/art, however that might be. man.

It's an amazing file but moreover it's not love of cinema that motivated him it was the need for respect.
