  • Built in Colonial Style in 1938, this mansion would soon be home to a dark secret. Firefighters were called to the home when an alarm was going off inside because of the lack of oxygen in the air. When crews arrived, they had to call the hazmat team to even go inside. What they found was haunting, over 115 accounts of animal abuse, and animals living in horrible conditions. The parents both went to prison, and the home was surrendered to the police, and shuttered. Their only child was left behind, only about 12. Her life stripped from her, as she learns the dark truth of her family. She grew up to become an animal rights activist. Today, we will be learning the entire story as we explore this abandoned crime scene mansion. If you enjoy leaves a thumbs up and consider subscribing for more exploring content !

Ok, I know this property personally! I rode through it as a kid and so did many horse owners in the area. This was not a dark house...it's original owners were author George Plympton's parents...Francis and Pauline. It was white with dark shutters and well kept. Mr. Plympton used to wave to us as he went down the long driveway in an old Rambler station wagon. He passed first. Mrs. Plympton donated the large meadow at the rear of the property to The Nature Conservancy upon her death, which promptly closed off access to horseback riders as they don't believe horses should ride on their properties...they're extremists. The house then remained on 7 acres. After the estate was settled these horrid people bought it and ran it to ruin. She a psychiatrist and he a dermatologist. They painted the awful colors around the house. On the day in question a friend and fellow horseperson who lives nearby was called by a local veterinarian the police had contacted to assist in examining and helping with the many necessary euthanasia needed on site. She told me how she cried the whole time...said it was the most horrific scene she'd ever experienced and it still haunts her. Late last fall the house finally went into a sales contract. As it can't be seen from the road I don't know whether they are gutting the interior or demolishing it for new. It was a lovely place until those sick monsters bought it. I can't believe he's still has his medical license!

Thank you for the history!!! Very interesting.
So the dad and mother had to be mentally ill? Surely all of those animals weren’t in the house when Emily was growing up? Some of the furniture was lovely.
It’s odd to me though that it appears Emily’s bed was positioned on the wrong side. The frame was high enough on the side she accessed to get in and out of to hit her back and rear end as she tried to slid over. The rail on the other side of the bed resting against the wall looks to be very low. Hmmm?????
Most of those pictures of Emily were eerie to me. She had a strange look in her eyes..no laughter was coming through even though she was smiling in one.
      Absolutely tragic…I feel distraught 😔

My dads surgeon murdered his wife and retained his medical license. However, if you look at his trial info he had to sign a document agreeing never to practice medicine again to keep his license. I thought for sure murder would go against the whole “do no harm” thing and immediately be grounds for removal but apparently not

My parents have bought two doctor’s homes. They were both filthy and I still don’t understand the mindset of it. I babysit for our neighbors who had small 4 children. He was a leading cardiologist. The first time babysitting was shocking at the filth. They were very good children, which helped me have some time to clean. I was even more disturbed that the children seldom got a bath. We never know how some live, until we become a part of it. They had the best cars, clothes, etc, which proves nothing, but maybe to some. Truly sad.

Wow, nature is tearing it down. Thanks for updating the story. I looked in a bit further and you know how internet research goes. The details of Emily's death have been kept quiet but apparently it is related to a car accident. She was living in Florida. She passed in June of 2022 at the age of 28 but she did have 2 other siblings that may have came after the animal cruelty charges against her parents. Everything was left because as soon as HAZMAT took control of the scene, they declared the mansion "condemned" and no one was allowed to enter it, not even the owners the retrieve any belongings. It was seized by the police department but later they (state) tried to sell it for 1.5 mil (SMH). I tried to find how long the parents were incarcerated but in appears that other than the initial jail time when officers found the home with the animals, they were arraigned and ordered to pay 142,000.00. There's no mention of a sentence for either parent and the father is still practicing dermatology now in the state but away from the area.
I loved Emily's "rooms". When my daughter was an only child, the entire end of our house consisted of her "rooms" - bedroom, bathroom and playroom. She was an only child for 7 years and spoiled like Emily. Emily was precious. No matter how she passed, may God bless her with eternal rest. Her world was turned upside down and some children don't do well under those circumstances.
I love the floral wallpaper! Ha! Great video. Take care, stay safe & God bless! xoxxo Kat

I just now came to this channel, and after watching your first explore of this that you did about 6 yrs ago, and now I've watched this one........I have a bit of a different take on the story here, just based on my gut feeling and what I sense from this home. And by seeing the photos, the decor....I just feel it somehow. And maybe because of some lives I have known in my own life through the years. I've had the unique experience of knowing and/or working for some very wealthy people throughout time. It seems like maybe this was a family with so much money, but there was some underlying sadness in them. They filled their lives with material things to fill the void, gave their daughter everything they wanted for her and spoiled her fully. I do believe they loved her very, very much. I don't sense they were evil. One of the parents suffered with depression I think. I don't believe they were animal abusers in the sense of typical abuse, and that they genuinely did love animals. They just had so much money and could have anything and everything they wanted, and some people accumulate animals. I cleaned for a millionaire lady for awhile, she was extravagant too and she would drink so much wine and go online and buy horses, rabbits, rare birds, miniature donkeys every time she was drunk, they'd be 'delivered' amd she' wouldn't remember buying them. They had the ranch for them but they didn't take care of them properly. She meant well, but it was too overwhelming for her and she could never seem to find hired help for all the animal care. Her husband was always consumed with her depression and never in the right state of mind to care for all the animals. I had to force him (I gave him a HUGE guilt trip) to relinquish the competition/prized bunnies one day when she was out of it. They were not in good condition (17 of them), and she also kept 5 dogs and 3 cats in the huge 900 sq ft basement and they pooped and peed down there and the ammonia smell was intense, but out of sight out of mind for the lady in charge. I reported it one day, I felt so bad for all the animals, and it was a huge ordeal and I got fired. She was also a hoarder of everything.....so much stuff in every single room, and their kids were very spoiled too. She drank because she was always depressed, money doesn't fix that. I sense that here (not the drinking part, just depressed with too much money). Also, rich people can be filthy too..........the lady I cleaned for was. Their money is the only thing that they had to uplift them for awhile. Their children were lonely and depressed too. In this story here, I feel like maybe as time went on and the depression got worse (it was the mother, I think), everything else was getting neglected, and after so long it really gets out of hand and then it's too far gone. They lived secluded, no one would know unless they had regular visitors but I don't think they did. I think she tried to buy happiness. Also, admitting defeat is really hard, and I'm wondering if maybe the death of her pets also added to her torment...the lady I knew with the prized bunnies had them living in cold crates in a cold barn, and when one or two would die every other week, she avoided the barn because she said she couldn't handle seeing them and just left them to rot, though she'd sob and cry and wail in distress about it. In this story, I think some form of mental illness/depression took control and she and her husband were dealing with that while the daughter was being given everything to compensate in other ways. It just feels like a sad life was in that home, but not because they were evil monsters. I don't sense they 'meant' to hurt their animals. In some of the pictures, the daughter looked happy when she was younger, and in pics where she was older she looked more sad. The moms eyes in one of them looked very sad. Anyway, just my opinion and observations. Also, it's always so weird to see so much stuff that was once someone's life end up as meaningless in the end. Old pictures and memories, toys, dishes, linens, decor, shoes and clothing, books, movies, lamps, pillows, jewelry..... things that were once treasured and loved, used, art hung on the walls, clocks......it is all left to decay in the end. Stuff really is just stuff in the end.

Who else has an ammonia detector in their house that is actively monotored by the fire department?

Thanks buddy, your isn't about exploration only, that's what i love about your content's, you also try to find the origins, or shall i say history, of each place you visit. it is something that would deffinitely interest me more then exploring, put yourself aswell in these people feets , imagine what they felt, or how they lived before abandoning the properties!, what was their story, wish i had the power to do the same , unfortunately i can only watch though videos, but yours are something else entirely!!!! Thanks guys!

Poor Emily. Rest peacefully. It's bad enough that she had to witness such animal abuse, but to have to leave all her things behind. How awful.

Dr. Michael Gladstein, Dermatologist, his wife Marilyn, & daughter Emily lived in Huntington, NY.
With All that money they seemed to have had, they couldn't afford to pay someone to help take proper care of the animals?
Don't know what anyone would need with 115 pets. But it looks like someone was very, very spoiled and got everything she wanted....inclg 115 pets.

Wow, I didn’t live far from there at all. I grew up in Syosset idk how I don’t know this story. Anyway I love the respect you have for the house and the stuff inside ♥️ the way you got so excited about her fairy tale dresses and the dollhouse book with the Victorian dollhouses just really warmed my heart! This is the first video I’ve ever seen with you… I subscribed and look forward to watching all your other videos!!! Thank you so nuch

Assume the dogs bodies were taken away for evidence in any cruelty case prosecution. They have to prove it wasnt an illness even if they obviously look starved. As per Animal Cops Huston episodes I've seen .

Aw Devin you really are a sweet respectful guy and what a nice idea to commemorate the history of this sad place. R.I.P. to the poor daughter what a sad story indeed. Thank you for showing us around but it is so very creepy. I noticed the grass is short so is there anyone who is keeping the grass trim and looking after the grounds?
Omg that doll house book has Nostell Priory in it I live 20 minutes away from that place in England West Yorkshire, wow I'm blown away it made me happy seeing that. Thank you for showing us round huni x

She couldn't take them because they reaked of ammonia. Sad they lived like that and did that to animals when they had the means to build them a kennel or find them homes. Even letting them run free and have a barn would have saved them their house and family.

Loved this video. Great job! All I can think of is how I would not be able to leave some of that stuff behind, knowing it’s just going to rot. 😢 Some of the children’s books especially. I have so many questions about these people. How awful what they did to those poor helpless animals.

omg, this is so sad!!!🥺it’s such a shame how much this home has deteriorated over the years since the last time you were here…😞that poor piano!!! and it’s honestly so sad seeing all those family photos and the toys left behind. i honestly wanna see more of the family photos lol. that was so interesting. especially when you said, “i’ve got the chills because of how emotional this is to look at” and i’m like, that’s so relatable because i was just in shock as well😦that’s such a crazy story of how the house was abandoned though. the poor animals 😢was the stuff that was contaminated with animal poop (and, the remains of the animals themselves…) ever removed from the home? or did they just leave it? because i’m curious. in the first video, the house didn’t really look that dirty or trashed really. so that’s why i’m wondering. it’s also so sad thinking about what emily must’ve went through!!!🥺😣it’s so sad that she died too. it must’ve been so heartbreaking to have the house seized and to not be able to recover any of her childhood toys and trinkets and stuff. because i would be so upset if i had to abandon my childhood toys. must’ve been hard for her😣but damn, what a story man!!!

I'm came across your channel today, and the first that I saw was the video on the California Turned Pike, and it was very interesting. I love how you give the history of the place you explore before the actual exploring starts. What confused me about this was how did two doctors who made so much money go from well respected to animal abusers I'm still curious about what lead them to abuse and neglect so many animals. Also, Rest In Peace Emily, you will be missed, and the work you did will live on

Is this monster, Michael J. Gladstein a dermatologist practicing medicine in Astoria NY for 30 plus years? The reviews say he is arrogant and rude. What about Monster #2.Marilyn Gladstein. Whats she doing?
Why do these sociopaths get away with impunity? They did not pay the original fines did they? and got arrested but did not serve the time in jail they deserved. The needless suffering they caused those poor animals, the people who had to go into up that horrific concentration camp.
Those poor, choiceless, voiceless little creatures.
It sickens me. It sickens all normal people.
All I can do is pray that they repent for what they have done and may continue to do. Otherwise, I would want them to have the sane fate as their victims only for much longer a time.
