Driving around a 600hp Nismo GT-R even if its not yours. Of course life is good man ;) You seemed to enjoy that ride A LOT. Keep them test drives like this coming..
+Engineering Explained Hope you do get time on racetrack with that thing and perhaps with something from Stuttgart as well which does not start with M ;)
The GTR used to be, let me write that again, used to be a bargain super car. It isnt anymore, it is really expensive. 160 000 $ is not a bargain. Still its bloody fast.
naysunhuang You do know you can buy a corvette z06 for a lot less which actully beat this very car on motortrend. The GTR cost as much as a Porsche GT3 and I much rather have that. Guess thats taste, but it is not a bargain anymore.
Chris Fokjohn Thing is, the GTR handles like a beast to. I'd personally love a GTR for a track car just because it's such a stable but fast car. Saying that I'd love a corvette haha
Hey man, I love watching you videos! Just wanted to let you know that AutoCars Reviews did a review of this car and it was just a lot of your video shots with music put on top of it. I don't know if you gave them permission to do that or not because they didn't give you video credit, and I don't think it's right for people to take other people's videos and claim them as their own. If you don't care then that's cool, but I figured you deserved to know. You're awesome and I look forward to watching more of your videos.
I have a feeling that sooner rather than later that you will have a beast of a car sitting in your driveway! Looking forward to seeing more of your candid reviews.
I must say, I'm quite impressed with this page...it's very informative... I'm from the Caribbean & in my country cars are very expensive so if you have a love for them you need to have money....this particular Nissan, is over a million where I'm from...you're blessed to get the opportunity to drive it
Ahh yeah. This is pretty good for you. Started in a college dorm room with a white board and now you're driving around in a 160k super car, pretty much a car journalist. Living the dream. But there's one thing you forgot...project Integra!
Engineering Explained Do it, a brake job is not even half a day, even if you're a complete newbie. I know you said that things that are more along the lines of "one time chances" always get in the way, like here, but you should be able to make a room in your schedule for a couple of hours of wrenching.
edge21str It's not just a couple hours unfortunately. To do the task alone, sure. Doing it while no one is watching is fine. You can take short cuts and do things that you wouldn't recommend to others. On film you have to make sure everything is to spec and perfect. It needs to be safe and precise. Research plays a big part. Filming isn't so easy when you are constantly coating your hands in dirt and grime. I'm not saying it's not doable, I'm just saying it's a very time consuming operation.
You would like to have a look at the AWD system of this car and the turbocharge is straight from GT3 car means less heat soak. The wheel bolt force was adjusted, the coolant cap pressure was adjusted for better usage, the aerodynamic part is insane, added a 100kg down force capable at 300 kph rear wings still reach 0.27 Cd. This car is insane.
I appreciate how you react like a normal person when doing these sports car reviews. This car was faulted by Motortrend, Top Gear, and Autocar for being boring. It is refreshing to see someone who isn't totally jaded review a car and give us a more honest layman's opinion. Thanks!
***** Probably to be able to clear water vapor if you drive it hard in the rain (boiling water can create a cushion of gas in between the brake pad and the rotor), the rims are quite open and would not block water spray on the rotors from the side.
You know what. If there is anyone that deserve a Nismo GT-R is you dude. With the knowledge and care you have with cars, I really hope you make that yours in the not too distant future. I have learnt so many things from you and I'm completely sure your channel will become even bigger than it is now. Great video
Completely agree with your statement on price. They moved the price to the point where its not as impressive as when it was $76k and competed in that class of cars. For $150k and that dated ext/int combo, I just don't see it. Feel the same way about the pricing of the z as i owned a 350z gt new for 26k with the Rays 18/19 inch track wheels and brembos . Okay old man rant over.
One of the best review I have ever seen. Other review critics just drive fast but this has a in dept video with practical aspects shown. Manufacturers just put the regular stuff, I request I go put more deep review about the cars interior and exterior along with engine transmission suspension and other stuff
Alex Lyons He says it wrong. It's nissán, with the stress in the san. And the i is short, if it was long ot would be written with two I's, or with a dash over the i .
Eternity It the correct Japanese pronunciation. The "ni" is short form for Japan, while "ssan" is short for "production". Essentially, Nissan means: produced in Japan.
+coscorrodrift He says it wrong based on what? You are really going to tell us that our language pronunciation is wrong? I don't native english speakers how to say English words lol. GTFO. That's just as bad as those that try to add a Zee sound in it.
I had the pleasure to drive this Godzilla on a race track but it takes far more to hit it's limits - yours! The best car I have ever driven in my life and I always will.
This channel rocks! There is always something new to learn about the things we love. I think it's great that we stay informed and know not only what the brochure tells us.
I like the comment of not being able to fully appreciate the full potential of the machine in daily traffic as its a supercar. It can only give the owner the glamour of which comes with owning a supercar. Very well said. I will consider creating track days when owning it.
what an amazing car. im really surprised that the guys back at nissan didn't already get rid of the back seats, almost useless. Still, this car is a beast. Very good review.
The TCM for the transmission is programmed to always downshift fast and aggressively for the most part, but up shifts will only be fast if you are on the throttle hard.
when the trunk space question was awsered. I was hoping for a "yeah you have good room, looks like you could fit 2 body's or so in there if needed." so yes good trunk space.
gotta a little touchy in the end there Mr Engineering Explained. still congratzs on ur accomplishments from where u began. I hope those fortunes continue to come!
Engineering Explained Godzilla, indeed! You are driving my favorite rendition (to date) of my favorite car line, the GT-R R35! I don't blame you for momentarily losing the straight-faced professionalism that the rest of your videos contain; It has the same effect on Jeremy Clarkson of ***** (It wasn't the same model, however). All the same, another great video. Keep on keeping on! Cheers mate, Alaester Nikolai Modern.
+Engineering Explained Only a friendly advice, mate. Having paddles doesn't mean you have to use them. Theauto is almost always better and faster in choosing the right gear and uses the whole rev range. If I drive cars like a GT-R with a DCT, even on racetracks, I leave them in Auto. I use the paddles only on very specific (Bergwerk Nurburgring i.e.) corners or for drifting. Sorry for my english!
Just for those wondering my dad has a GTR and I'm 5'10 and have ridden hours upon hours in the back seat totally fine. Trunk can hold 3 old bags…its large.ALSO FOR THE SAME PRICE AS A NISMOE YOU CAN HAVE A MODDED GTR WITH 2OOO+ HORSEPOWER
Glad to see your appreciation of the car! Sitting in the seat, you feel instantly humbled by the beast. Even at "50%" of the car's capabilities, it's still **stupidly-fast**. You should have geeked out over the MFD that was ported over from Gran Turismo! I still enjoy using it (boost gauge, fuel economy, etc). Also, the car doesnt have memory seats, but the mirrors fold! Bcuz race car. p.s. I really enjoyed the other videos explaining the awd system, and also how to drive a DCT. Helped me realize that I shouldn't inch up in traffic, etc. :)
Great video! I own a 2015 STI and was able to drive a standard GT-R recently, and my experience was very much the same as yours. I was constantly concerned about hitting my head on the roof liner, and the seats were snug. Everything else was incredible!
Very nice Jason. That's a great review of a car made for the track. It's also cool to see that you loved driving such an amazing piece of mechanical engineering. Many thanks for your efforts in producing such an awesome channel.
$160,000!? I could buy a Mercedes AMG GT-S with every option for $15g less. That's insane! I know it's a different class of vehicle and it's really fast, but expensive car ownership is more about enjoying the scenery and tasting gourmet food or relaxing while driving home from work in my view...but apparently that's what "old people" do...
Great review mate well done and what a dream car! Long time viewer and yes I can agree you have come some ways since your white board illustration days! :) lol
Was waiting for the 0-60 portion :) Awesome video and phenomenal car! I saw one recently on the freeway that I totally had to give props to. I kept thinking how it must hurt not to unleash the beast, but you are right, this car is a bit wasted as a daily driver.
"Who knows what that did" - Nismo Engineering, Unexplained XD
Ah, speed limits. A car driver's nemesis.
Driving around a 600hp Nismo GT-R even if its not yours. Of course life is good man ;)
You seemed to enjoy that ride A LOT.
Keep them test drives like this coming..
+sardanapalos Appreciate it, thanks!

STI guy: "One of us! One of us! One of us!"
phant0 Bwahahahaha!
+phant0 '05 STI owner here, I insist on waving at every WRX/STI I can.
"They knew I had an sti" ... Subaru really need to change that name XD
Sexually transmitted infection lol
+Jai Vaja You don't say STD ?
+Cyril sti is pretty much the same thing
***** or sexually transmitted infection
+Ki Mu STI is more accurate because most of those "diseases" are just infections, like herpes and gonorrhea
The GTR used to be, let me write that again, used to be a bargain super car. It isnt anymore, it is really expensive. 160 000 $ is not a bargain. Still its bloody fast.
Chris S It is a bargain considering the price of all the exotics it competes with (and destroys).
naysunhuang You do know you can buy a corvette z06 for a lot less which actully beat this very car on motortrend. The GTR cost as much as a Porsche GT3 and I much rather have that. Guess thats taste, but it is not a bargain anymore.
Chris S Anyone with decent car knowledge, that doesn't compare cars by their 0-60 times will agree with you
Chris Fokjohn Thing is, the GTR handles like a beast to. I'd personally love a GTR for a track car just because it's such a stable but fast car. Saying that I'd love a corvette haha
Personally not a fan of the Gallardo. The Murcielago on the other hand.. Hell yes
The R's turned you into a pirate.
Lmao wot 😭
Also the civic type r
"Arrrr, arrr, arrr... who knows what that did"
-EE, 2015 LMFAOOOOOOO

press all the R buttons!!
+Tedlasman ALL THE BUTTONS!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for letting me know, definitely didn't give permission.
+Engineering Explained i suggest you put a small water mark through out your video like the double E's kind of like how +crutch420 does his
I have a feeling that sooner rather than later that you will have a beast of a car sitting in your driveway! Looking forward to seeing more of your candid reviews.

"It even has navigation so you can..you know you can get lost in the GT-R and find your way home." My sides xD
Ahh yeah. This is pretty good for you. Started in a college dorm room with a white board and now you're driving around in a 160k super car, pretty much a car journalist. Living the dream. But there's one thing you forgot...project Integra!
Haha, not forgotten, still have it. Have some brakes to thrown on it too.
Engineering Explained Yeah I've got a GS-R and while I like all your other videos, project Integra is my favorite.
Engineering Explained Do it, a brake job is not even half a day, even if you're a complete newbie. You deserve it man!
Keep up the good videos!
Everyone that drives the GT-R always get a big smile as soon as they step on the gas pedal :)
Eddie Linares Maybe we should call it the smile pedal.
Engineering Explained Only smiles per gallon :)
your evolution as a channel has been massive.
I love your reaction when you first hit the gas haha! Brilliant review!
Looking forward for the La Ferrari review.
"I just went 0-20 in the blink of an eye... I'm going to get a speeding ticket." Lol, you sure it was 20mph?
Just as soon as I have $170k, or a perfect credit score I'll get one
Best part of the video: White board in college, now rolling around in a Nissan GTR. Got to respect that. Great video.
You would like to have a look at the AWD system of this car and the turbocharge is straight from GT3 car means less heat soak. LAUNCH CONTROL 東瀛戰神 0.26* :)
I saw this one already 弟 .
Engineering Explained 0.26X I guess it won't be 0.26 flat.
Engineering Explained book liao heh
Love your last comments on min 12:17 mate. You really should be proud of yourself for making so many people happy and entertained.
NISMO POWERRRRRRR
I appreciate how you react like a normal person when doing these sports car reviews. This car was faulted by Motortrend, Top Gear, and Autocar for being boring. It is refreshing to see someone who isn't totally jaded review a car and give us a more honest layman's opinion. Thanks!
Why drilled rotors on a nismo??? Is it only for the cool factor? Seems silly on a race car.
***** I assume for weight saving? I am not sure...
***** I see you've been following my channel. :)
***** Probably to be able to clear water vapor if you drive it hard in the rain (boiling water can create a cushion of gas in between the brake pad and the rotor), the rims are quite open and would not block water spray on the rotors from the side.
***** So that it can fracture and you can pay 12k for a new one. Sounds good to me.
***** Race cars have composite brakes
Strangely enough the 918 actually has drilled brakes as well
The best part about these videos is watching you accelerate in monsterlike cars. Your smile and laugh are contagious!
I feel like It's your graduation day.. You have grown up(a lot) .. Congratulations 👏👏👏👏
Haha thanks. Back to the norm next Sunday (Chrysler 200). I do have another STI video coming soon though. :)
You know what. If there is anyone that deserve a Nismo GT-R is you dude. With the knowledge and care you have with cars, I really hope you make that yours in the not too distant future. Driving a fast car always puts a smile in one's face. I can feel it driving my fast car. It's just so fun.
Smiles per gallon
WOW!! Left me speechless. I see you were in awe of that beast. No words for that car. Great stuff!
15.5" rotors? haha that's just around the same diameter as my rims..
+borris412 its larger than mine haha
One of the best review I have ever seen. Other review critics just drive fast but this has a in dept video with practical aspects shown. Manufacturers just put the regular stuff, I request I go put more deep review about the cars interior and exterior along with engine transmission suspension and other stuff
KNEEsan KNEEsmo.... lol
Lol I was like wtf is he saying.
Alex Lyons He says it wrong. It's nissán, with the stress in the san. And the i is short, if it was long ot would be written with two I's, or with a dash over the i .

He doesn't smile a lot in his other videos, but when he does you know the video is going to be good.
dude, you are a bit overweight. Need more exercise to be healthier..!
+N Hai Nguyen (Skyline ゴジラ) I know, gotta get that weight reduction bro.
+Engineering Explained lol
need more exercise for dat power to weight too
My dream car :s
So many beautiful cars but for that price, looks and performance, there's nothing better.
Didn't even know it had back seats!
he saw me and just knew i had an sti XD. have you being down the clinic
I get it inspected every two years, just following Oregon law!
This channel rocks! There is always something new to learn about the things we love. I think it's great that we stay informed and know not only what the brochure tells us.
Was this the best car review, ever??
Knew this was coming because of the comments the lot attendant made at the end of the 370Z vid. Liked, as always!
Why is a nissan gtr faster than a ferrari 488 gtb or 458 speciale? Please explain
Muhd Amin Voodoo magic. ;)
anyway a Ferrari is still more special -- it has other things about it that make it special. :)
Muhd Amin it's japanese, godzilla, supercar killer, and has almost perfect aerodydamics..
Muhd Amin Probably something to do with the fact that it has a V6 3.8 litre, highly tuned, twin turbo engine !
Depends what you consider fast? Fast from naught to 60, top speed, cornering force, how fast it laps tsukaba???
Muhd Amin fake Nürburgring Nordschleife laptimes?
Love the Lion impression at the start while hitting the buttons........ 🦁🦁🦁🦁
........0-20
Much better presentation than most of the usual motoring journalist jocks.
for 5 times the price. lol
Joshua Bynum technically its just 3x the price of an sti but close enough 😆
I was like, did it have enough trunk space, and thanks to you, now I know it does. I bought six of them yesterday for me and my wife and 4 kids, tyvm.
The Godzillas of Godzillas. Come on Jason, there are numerous GTRs with well over 800-1000hp :)
I like the comment of not being able to fully appreciate the full potential of the machine in daily traffic as its a supercar. It can only give the owner the glamour of which comes with owning a supercar. Very well said. I will consider creating track days when owning it.
I can't get over how clean those wheels are
Yea I have a Wrx and I get waves from Sti's and Wrx owners all the time, Its a great brotherhood to be a part of. really neat
what an amazing car. im really surprised that the guys back at nissan didn't already get rid of the back seats, almost useless. Still, this car is a beast. Very good review.
+Manuel Salinas ... i agree!!
I drove an older gtr on a track, greatest driving experience of my life.
The TCM for the transmission is programmed to always downshift fast and aggressively for the most part, but up shifts will only be fast if you are on the throttle hard.
Drove my buddies GTR and it felt like a tank! Well switching from my Audi it did! And well I smiled the whole time! Fun experience!
You're reaction at 0:59-1:03 after the downshift. Epic haha
That first 1:11seconds was gold!
True feel.
I hope you get too own a version of the R35.
Last scene is just fantastic. Really hits you.
Love this Video. I had an opportunity to drive one last week too, and I LOVED it.
It's about time you drove one of these beasts!!
when the trunk space question was awsered. I was hoping for a "yeah you have good room, looks like you could fit 2 body's or so in there if needed." so yes good trunk space.
Love your vids. Thanks! Glad you have the opportunity to reviews like this one!
congratulations mister ! you have come pretty far ! i remember the first video i watch was something about manual transmission, GOOD JOB !!!
Liked it even before I saw the video, yeah, GTR and Nismo...chills.
gotta a little touchy in the end there Mr Engineering Explained. still congratzs on ur accomplishments from where u began. I hope those fortunes continue to come!
I was smiling just watching this video, I. any imagine driving this beast of a machine... Autobahn Anyone ?

Cheers mate,
Alaester Nikolai Modern.
Can wait for the NISSAN GTR R36. V6 with twin turbocharger, 1000hp.
Definitely subbing. Your video on this explained everything i wanted to know about this from a buyers point of view.
+Bear Bluetear Thanks for subscribing!
+Engineering Explained Only a friendly advice, mate. Having paddles doesn't mean you have to use them. You have reached the top! Congratulations.
1:00 to 1:11 kept replaying it and couldn't stop smiling, I'm happy for you to be honest :)
omar matar :)
Ah finally, a proper review of The awesome nissan gtr nismo! thanks man
I feel for you driving that man, I drove a friend's Supra one time and no car I drove after that felt even close. It was actually depressing.
LOVED the ending of just geeking out, that's all I'd do if I got to drive one myself too EE!
Very nice Jason. That's a great review of a car made for the track. It's also cool to see that you loved driving such an amazing piece of mechanical engineering. Many thanks for your efforts in producing such an awesome channel.
man that looked fun. good for you getting some success. i really like the vids.
"R, R, and R. Who knows what that did." Famous last words 😁
$160,000!? I could buy a Mercedes AMG GT-S with every option for $15g less. That's insane! I know it's a different class of vehicle and it's really fast, but expensive car ownership is more about enjoying the scenery and tasting gourmet food or relaxing while driving home from work in my view...but apparently that's what "old people" do...
the shadow at 6:33 went priceless :D
love the backpack secured with the seatbelt
Great review mate well done and what a dream car! Long time viewer and yes I can agree you have come some ways since your white board illustration days! :) lol
James Herd Haha, still using it weekly though! :)
Once again brilliantly reviewed.
Bet 97% of the people in the comments who hate this car can't even afford a car 😂😂
AMAZING!!!!! I love that they made a NISMO version.
The pulls looked brutal to me I bet it felt good in the drivers seat.
Massive congratulations on how far you've come!!!
Also, can't wait for you to get to drive other supercars ;)
I'd say this is a pretty big milestone for ya! Congrats! Good video as always.
I'm still convinced that this is Jack McBrayer...
Was waiting for the 0-60 portion :) Awesome video and phenomenal car! I saw one recently on the freeway that I totally had to give props to. I kept thinking how it must hurt not to unleash the beast, but you are right, this car is a bit wasted as a daily driver.
Great video man! Congrats and more success to you and your channel.
