    A little about me:
    Sean Daniel is a man. A man of simple needs and desires. And the one desire, no, the one NEED, that stands above all is to spread the challenges, joy and intellectual stimulus of music to people of Earth and beyond.
    Born on the mean streets of upper middle class suburban Chicago, Sean learned the ways of the world through the dizzying heights of success to the lonesome depths of failure and emerged with the promise of a better tomorrow reflecting in his eyes and fiery passion in his belly.
    He plays and teaches guitar on his CZcams channel where he regularly releases original music and projects to the adulation of legions of fans, who often compare him to Chris Pratt and one time Ryan Reynolds. He’s currently in the market for a nice leather jacket.

    Really enjoyed this session with Andres, he's amazing. Sean, a supremely intelligent individual who just happens to be an exceptional guitarist. You guys should jam more often, you sound fabulous together, very flamingo!

    Hmmm, I see more Brad Pitt. I am not sure that Andres is faking Flamenco, he is too good at it. You always amaze me with your knowledge across so many different music styles. But I guess that is what makes you a great guitarist. Andres is also incredible. Great jam. Thanks for sharing.

    If you think of it as "A" Harmonic Minor (Aeolian ♯7) and how you might write that on a bar staff, then G♯ makes sense. Since you'd be throwing out the G in exchange for G♯/A♭. If you go between Natural Minor (Aeolian) and Harmonic Minor then your breaking the rules, but it sounds cool and it works. Even if it is hard to describe with music theory. Of course lots of music will add out of scale notes, chromatic movements are a very common ornamentation in many genres (and foundational for metal for example). A chromatic movement would be if you played most of the song in A natural minor and hit G then immediately went up to G♯, or vice-versa. It's a little extra flavor that sounds good.

    F sharp isn’t part of phrygian dominant but guess what? It is part of the scale E Flamenco or „por arriba“ how it is traditionally called.

    Quick question!!! The clear plastic that Andres has on his guitar...what's it called? I know it's used to protect the guitar when you tap the guitar with your fingernails or hand. Just wanna see where I can get it too!

    Very amusing however is the Flamenco scale 17 notes? I f so what is it called. I do understand that is a mixture of Oriental and Occidental music styles, to form the Andeluse sound,

    • @TheHesseJames
      @TheHesseJames Před 6 měsíci

      It‘s up to ten notes and it cannot really described by Western music theory. The scale is one thing. The other is the rhythm. They played the popular Rumba which is an easy one. There are about a hundred other rhythms which take quite some practice to master even just by clapping. The right hand techniques basically put you into position to play like if you had five picks instead of just one.

    As much as I love your energy, this doesn't show anything about which chords/techniques/palos/soniquette used in flamenco. In fact just the opposite. I'm tired of seeing videos saying that 'you should do this if you want to sound more flamenco' What they're demonstrating has nothing to do with true flamenco. And the jazz modern flamenco isn't flamenco either. I'm not a fan. Instead of trying to fake it why not actually learn the correct techniques palos and tonalities and know them well before teaching them instead of perpetuating false information. There's much more to 'sounding flamenco' than a few chords and a basic rumba strum.

  • @dan_kay
    @dan_kay Před rokem

    And if you're not so much into faking things, here is how it really works:
    1. Master the classical guitar. Nylon strings, fat body, and lots of pain included. I'm not talking about 5 open cowboy chords, but mastering the instrument.
    2. Learn the Spanish Phrygian scale, also called Spanish Gypsy scale, or Phrygian major scale
    3. Learn Rasgueado (also called Rageo [spelled so or Rajeo], Rasgueo or Rasgeo in Andalusian dialect and flamenco jargon, or even occasionally Rasqueado). It is a guitar finger strumming technique commonly associated with flamenco guitar music. Shouldn't take you more than a couple of months.
    4. Learn all the other Flamenco techniques: Abanico, Aire, Alzapúa, Apagado, Apoyando, Arrastre, Cejilla, Cifra, Compás, Copla, Duende, Escobilla, Falseta, Golpe/Golpeador, Ligado, Llamada, Macho, Palo, Picado, Por Arriba, Por Medio, Salida, Subida, Tapado, Tirando, Trémolo (flamenco)
    5. Recognize that faking it won't get you anywhere.
    6. Have fun learning the Flamenco over the next 6 to 10 years.
    7. Stop faking. Whatever it is you're faking.
