    Do you prefer to shoot with primes or zooms?

    • @YOUAREMYKIN
      @YOUAREMYKIN Před 2 lety +1

      Primes! And although I favor the 50mm I got the Sigma 28-70 DG DN to explore wider focal lengths. Question, I know you love the 7Artisans 50mm F1.05, does your version of this lens have a yellow tint? And if yes, do you find that you can adjust for it well enough without problems in post work?

      Primes,all the way although I got same combo for the Sony A7IV and have to say it saves me lot of time from changing lenses when I need it.Therefore,very convenient lens,although Tamron is doing well and going an extra mile with price and quality.Good video!!

    I moved over from Canon to the Sony A7iii about 4 years ago and have been shooting on primes (18mm/35mm/55mm/85mm/135mm) but I am so tempted to go for this lens! Love the idea of being back shooting a wedding on one camera rather than constantly switching between 2 bodies and changing lenses!

    I was going to buy this lens and went to my camera store to buy it but they had the new sigma 28-70 f2.8 DG DN Which one’s cheaper. So I decided to give it a try with full intentions that I was going to return it and buy the 24-70 sigma art lens cuz I thought I was really going to need that extra 4mm. But I was really impressed by how sharp it was, focusing worked flawlessly. So I kept it. And i love how small and compact it is. I have humongous hands 4XL to be exact but and I use a sigma 105 mm F1.4 art lens during a wedding so size don’t bother me or weight. But I really liked how small and compact it was. Regardless of the extra 4 mm I am losing it’s still a sigma in either way you can’t go wrong sigma lenses. Great video is always love the channel

      @@tejassl5101 bro, I used the 28-75 with an A7iii very recently, and it’s a great lens for the price. It’s lightweight and I shot with it for an entire day on a trek. I was previously using an 18-55mm in a canon crop body so that was 28.8 mm full frame equivalent on the wider end. Since I have used a 24-70 on a full frame before, the 4mm difference was noticeable for me. The lens is great though, doesn’t miss focus unless in very low light.

    Like you, Pav, I ADORE this lens!
    Pound for pound, it's got to be the best standard "Pro" zoom I've certainly ever owned (and I've had a few over the years!), and since picking my copy up at the end of 2020, it's had a whole lot of use, and never let me down once. It's a keeper for sure, and I simply can't see the point in spending over double the amount on the G Master equivalent.
    If you're a Sony shooter, and sitting on the fence about snagging this fine piece (or pieces) of glass, do yourself a favour and pull the trigger immediately. I'll wager you won't be disappointed!

      @@PavSZ It really is so good! The Tamron did also look pretty tasty for the money, but in the end, 28mm at the wide end was the dealbreaker for me when compared to the Sigma. Also, I really don't mind a bit of weight to my lenses, as it usually means that both optical and build quality are going to be damn excellent! Zero regrets picking up the Sigma, and I doubt I'll be getting rid of it any time soon!

      I don't think that wide aperture is as important when shooting wide, it will obviously help in low light situation but it's not an answer to lack of light.

    Even though this video is about the lens, have another question. Have you attempted to shoot long video segments with your a7iv? If so, have u experienced overheating problems like many other youtubers? The overheating issues keep me from being serious about the a7iv? I'm certain that there are many other potential Sony customers who are moving towards The new Panasonic and the new Fuji cameras which have dealt with overheating issues in their recent camera releases. The Sony FX30 had done likewise, however the Sony a7iv and the recent Vlogger Sony ZV-E1 have already become infamous for overheating problems. 😎😎

I did two portrait shoots with it but it was too heavy when carrying the S5 with the battery grip. So I returned it and got the 28-70mm f2.7 instead. The optics on both lense are roughly the same with the 28-70mm weighing far less than its 24-70 counterpart. Other than the weight, dust issues, some reported focusing issues ( fixed with the available console ) and the FIDDLY lens caps, Sigma makes a great product. Their lens cases they ship with are a great touch, and as Pav notes in his excellent video, they stand behind their stuff! I believe they are a ‘Family owned/run company, and strive for excellence. You will have your Sigma fans, and your Tamron fans. I believe if someone is shooting Nikon, they will be better served with Tamron. Sony, (bleh) or Canon, I’d go with Sigma.

    Great vid. I enjoyed the pictures. I do have a question that I've been wondering for myself with this sigma 24-70 vs the tamron 35-150 2-2.8.
    I have a bunch of small primes. I already have the Sigma 24-70 DG dn 2.8 with my Trinity zooms completed with Tamron 17-28 2.8 and Tamron 70-180. The question is, in a 2 zoom lens kit which would require less lens swapping for you?
    A) 17-28 + 35-150 with the 35-150 being on most of the time or
    B) 24-70 + 70-180 with the 24-70 being on most of the time?
    Option A would mean 35 is wide enough and you would rather reach beyond 70mm zoom than on the wider end. Option B would mean you prefer the wider end of 24-70 and don't need the reach of the 150mm with 70mm being telephoto enough. ??? Asking for your experiences =)
    EXPLANATION - I'm thinking about the tamron 35-150 to minimise lens changes and I don't know if I'd miss the 24mm end of the sigma 24-70 and keep swapping across the with the 17-28 to get the wider angle than 35mm if I get the tamron 35-150. 24mm is usually wide enough and I'd take 70-180 as a second or the 105mm macro. If I get the 35-150 I may be able to get away with a 1 lens kit eliminating the need to carry the 70-180 but don't know if I'd need a 2 lens kit constantly swapping it for the 17-28 for the wider end.
    I use the 24mm of the 24-70 more because it's there and not because I specifically need 24mm. With the Tammy 17-28 I'll use the 28mm and 17mm more than 24mm so I gravitate to the available extremes and adjust from there. I have a sigma 35mm f2 but it doesn't help with knowing if I want wider because I just move around with primes and always want more or less but deal with the fixed FL reluctant to change so I shoot differently. So my experience and looking at my frequency of favoured shot doesn't help me decide if 35mm is wide enough.
    All I know is I have enjoyed using a film super zoom 28-300mm (@200mm ish) to take isolated distant shots of a falling leaf in the city that wasn't sharp at all because the lens was average but the moment and composition was nice but I had the 28mm end too which I shot a lot at and it is very much in wide angle territory and is step (not an official term obvs) wider than 35mm which is wide angle but borders the normal view.
    So what would you prefer the wide end of 24mm from a 24-70 or the long end of the 35-150mm?? Thanks in advance

    • @PavSZ
      @PavSZ  Před 2 lety +1

      my honest opinion is that you'll always miss what you don't have.
      These are all great lenses but even if never shoot at 24mm, you will wish that you had wider lens when you only can go to 35.

    I'm really really struggling which lens to buy. I want an sharp, good all around lens. So the only lenses that compete for me would be the Sony 24-105, Tamron 28-75 G2 or the Sigma 24-70. Are the 35mm more important than the F4?
    I am shooting rather landscape and Street photography, but sometimes also portraits could be done (Or should I just buy an 85mm 1.8 for the portraits and then an Sony 24-105)
