    I bought this lens on Sony E-Mount about 2 months ago based on a bunch of the reviews. I would say the part that this review and most others have missed is that it zooms the wrong way. Sony lenses zoom to the right to zoom in. This you have to turn left. This may not be an issue for people that switch cameras / lenses day in and out - but for a native shooter it really interrupts your shooting workflow. I think highlighting this in future would be advisable - after all - who cares about image quality when you miss the shot because it is less usable. I honestly wish I had gone for the Tamron (assuming it zooms the right way).

    I have the Nikon Z 24-70 f/2.8 and it is fabulous both in the center and edges when shot wide open or stopped down. If one is truly serious about landscapes then the premium price may well be worth it. Glad the Sigma is not available for the Z mount for the choice would have been difficult.

      lcador9 I'm in a pickle to sell my Nikon F mount to go Sony. I want to like the Z system, but I'm an enthusiast and spending $2K+ on a lens is not worth it. Now with Sony being able to get a 2.8 from $900-$1200. That's a game changer. And Nikon doesn't seem willing to open their mount eng,... Hello Sony?!

    • @coltoncyr2283
      @coltoncyr2283 Před 4 lety

      The only reason why I'm stuck and consider going Nikon Z is their built in stacking, for Macro, and ergonomics, however battery life is trash and that's a huge thing for me.

    • @lcador9
      @lcador9 Před 4 lety

      @@coltoncyr2283 I agree. My Nikon Z7 is stuck in warranty repair in New York for very poor battery life, less than 150 shots under minimal demand. Problem is the 500mm PF, for birds, is a fabulous light weight wonder and the S-lenses are super sharp end to end for landscape. I print for galleries at 20-40 inches and the quality difference shows. I more then make my money back by paying the premium lens prices. Best of luck with you photography.

    I have to say as a film maker, I find the topic of corner sharpness to be a very central theme for photographers. But, for movies, your audience will be mostly looking in the middle area of the screen, not in the corners. If your audience is watching your movie and looking at the corners, that says more about your film and less about the image you captured. Just a thought. Great review. I'm a big fan of Sigma glass.
