One of the classic Mario Sports titles from the grand old Gamecube days is Mario Power Tennis. Just how well does the game hold up by today's standards though? Join me and find out!
Bring back Sunday streams! They were great and a fun way to relax on a Sunday night before the week. But otherwise I agree with you. The GC had a certain charm that has yet to be replicated.
Can we talk about the type design in old Mario sports games? (and really older Mario games in general). Nearly all the font choices they chose in all these earlier games were super fun and charming. Nowadays, it's all sterile and clean. As a website designer, the value of clean and readable type is important, but this is MARIO. Why did they have to adopt such a bland "Sports Arena" style
I feel that way about the Mario Kart logo for sure. It used to have the very pleasing Super Mario font and nice colored letters. Now it's all gray and sterilized.
Hasn’t everything become shaped this way?? I feel like financial statistic obsessed people have choked out the outgoing creativity in many situations. I feel like it’s a difficult time to be creative these days because of things like that.
Well until I saw this comment I didn’t notice about the fonts in older and modern Mario games but yeah the fonts nowadays are nothing but a generic white text which makes them look boring.
PINCH ME I'm dreaming! TheBitBlock coming back and harder than ever! I knew this day would come! Good to see you back Joshy! Now we need another Luigi Mansion review just for the heck of it!
Man... Gamecube was kinda the peak, wasn't it? I actually never played this game. Didn't really bother picking up multilayer games, aside from Smash Bros. I wish I had now.
So, you're continuing with your occasional video reviews? Hmm. Well, you keep a good flow throughout, just like I remember. Mario Power Tennis...really is a gold standard for Mario sports games. It helps that I grew up in the GameCube era and experienced it in my adolescence. Incidentally, I still enjoy Mario Tennis Aces, even to the point of playing it semi-regularly to this day. Still, I can agree that Power Tennis is superior with its style, Pop Happiness font UI, and general love for the Mario franchise and its sub-universes. It is my favorite game in the Mario Tennis series. Splendid work, JT.
I had no idea this game existed, but it looks incredible! I love those gimmick courts, and it seems like there are so many ways they added to change the game of tennis in fun and crazy ways.
Definitely get the gamecube version. As someone who's played both versions, the Wii one is pretty bad because it doesn't register ur swings correctly 90% of the time and the Wii version forces u to use the motion controls. I'd definitely recommend the gamecube one!

That opening cutscene is a gaming treasure.
Very wild how Aces had DLC for a year but yet still doesn't have enough content as this one
PINCH ME I'm dreaming!

I’m loving these reviews on older games ! Keep them coming, Josh !
The editing is always great on your videos
We are blessed to have Josh's reviews to remind the kiddos they deserve better from nintendo.
These reviews have been great! Keep 'em coming!

Keep these reviews coming, these are great!
Just discovered this game this year. Having a blast 😊
I've played all the Mario Sports games on GC... except this one. Maybe it's time to hunt it down. Great review!!
Gotta say I'm really liking these reviews, Josh! Good work!
Outstanding review, Joshy! Power Tennis was my first Mario sports game. Anyway, how do you record Gamecube gameplay nowadays?
I bet this is your alternative to Switch Sports.

I remember loving the demo so much of Power Tennis, I got a gamecube for it and Thousand Year Door.

Gamecube, still the best nintendo console ever.
The new games are lacking this *STYLE*
I have never cared about the Mario Tennis franchise but I’m interested in Power Tennis now. So much care used to go into these games.
I really want to give this game a go after watching this but im not sure if i should get the gamecube version or the wii port with new controls

@@Fan-lh6wv Ah, gotcha. Thanks!
I haven’t tried this game before, seems pretty good
Do you have the Wii version of this game?
Can we just get a remaster of this game on Switch
I played the crap out of this game as a kid
Mario tennis is okay, but lacks the charm like the GameCube version.
Live laugh love
