Carto Parto 1 - shades of Dorfromantik. This is a puzzle adventure game, with a higher emphasis on adventure than most games I've played. The puzzles are slated to get tricky though! Stay tuned.

A wonderful palette cleanser from the abrasive games I've been playing lately. If you're not one for story and only care about the puzzles, don't worry! Apparently the puzzles get quite tricky later on.
mmm vide game. I love puzzle game mm visow game
good, good
@@chrissheldon7106 wat
good vid tyler!
The people are here because they came from another island.
The older people on the island is people who have made the "coming-of-age" journey already. They left home and found the island you're on. They settled after journeying, got older. Had kids with other people that journey'ed to the island as well. Then the circle of life continues with their traditions.
"journey'ed"?
@@strawberrana journificated
Committed the act of traveling from a point to another point
Unstayed
Selfdislocated
Given the small population of the island, I’m guessing the “coming of age” tradition serves to prevent inbreeding. You leave the island and presumably meet and marry someone from a different island, forming the new island’s adult population. While this could be accomplished by only applying the rule to either men or women instead of both, it’s more egalitarian to apply it to both, and it’s possible their culture wants to avoid people becoming too settled or inheriting family property because that’s not the lifestyle they want.
speedruns of this game must be wild with adjusting the maps to move faster
*slides map across ocean*
Oops accidentally fast-travelled
lmao
Hi fan channel
14:14 I'm guessing there's a bunch of islands that have the same tradition (from everyone travelling to a new island) and also send people off - those people from other islands land on each others islands, preventing inbreeding. That's probably how the traditipn came about.
Seeing 4 river bends, the first thing I'd do is make a circle
Same
Tyler: Oh it’s a sheep!
Sheep: Baaaaaaaaa!
Tyler: What did I expect?
*3 seconds later*
Tyler: Another sheep!
Sheep: Baaaaaa!
Tyler: Riveting!
Played through this game a couple months ago. It was pretty enjoyable and really relaxing, but I never felt that it was very challenging.
yeah same, i kind of prefer it that way though.
The puzzles seemed "hard" enough that it took some reasoning to get through them, but if they were anything like Snakebird/Sausage Roll I don't think I would have been as invested in the story.
Later on it was a bit of a challenge. Very chill game anyway. Highly recommend it.
So like portal?
Thats what I love about it too man, its mostly wholesome, and relaxing, unlike pony island, but I like both
The puzzles don't become too difficult. Some were head scratchers, but I was able to get through it pretty easily.
There is apparently some sort of hidden items collection going on for people looking for secrets. I'd suggest going for that to see if there's something more to that.
14:15 The adults all came from a different (possibly multiple different) other islands. The idea seems to be that there's a bunch of islands the people are spread around, and they're all sending their teenagers off to find other people to settle down with, who go on to do the same thing.
Grandma: Moves the tile
All the animals down below: Here I go dying again.
" I want to leave forever, that's like... a month"
this game has great realism
I need Tyler to play one of the Nancy Drew games! A good mix of puzzles, interesting characters, and in certain games, some pretty creepy moments!
Drew Crew
Secret of the twister!
@@Nick-tc9ps That's a pretty good one! I was going to suggest Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon!
hehe i watched arglefumph's playthrough for all the nancy drew games
@@TheXeeman Nice! I need to watch his playthroughs myself, but he seems very fun!
'Tradition says we settle on the first island we find' - Oh, so her old tribe is a bunch of coconut trees
I like how the grandma casually shows Carto how to literally bend the word
Tyler saying "Girl same" is all I've ever needed
I love how this turned into an ASMR channel for all of 60 seconds
Oh hell yeah, Carto is one of my favorite puzzlers, I'm happy to have stumbled onto it last year on game pass.
The tutorial island still has people, because they were send off to that island from another island when they were fifteen.
I really like this channel for having such a big variety of puzzlers, with most of them having under 10 walkthroughs/let's plays on youtube. Not just hard ones like baba, snakebird and cosmic express, but also things like The Room, this game, Inscryption, Roll, Superliminal and a lot of the one or two videos games
I think inscryption would classify more as a card game rather than a puzzle game
If anybody hasn’t played this, I highly recommend it. It’s so good.
I loved playing throught this game! It was a lovely afternoon!
Couldn’t make it through this game myself cause I got bored, so I’m glad to see you playing it so I can at least have finished playing it in spirit
pls go back and play carto 🥰
i dont know why but i really don't like when you don't examine something that can could, for example the dirt mound at 5:32
If they send everyone away once they turn 15, the young people have to settle new or old islands. That implies the adults there all came from a different island. 15 year olds from other islands can settle on that island just fine.
This game is so charming. I love it
Ive been loving the content just don't burn yourself out!
I love this, it’s such a nice change from inscription
First time you have played a game that ive played before, i can finally understand whats going on first episode 😂
Love this game. Such a joy to play
love the content, ive just found myself binge watching alot of your vids
I've been wondering if you were ever going to get to this game. It's a pretty cute one, with some interesting puzzles near the end.
Just discovered your channel, really like the variety. Already added this game and an older game, A monster's expedition, to my wishlist. Can't wait to add more!
I like having a good blend of games to watch from Tyler. Some traditional puzzle games, some somewhat weird games, and some games that are just neat.
I love this games art style so much
Lovely video tyler! I always love watching you as my morning routine.
Have you ever played outer wilds? Seems like a game you'd really enjoy!
I love more chilled games like this. Just Tyler's narration helps me to relax at night. Its like asmr for 30 minutes
Lol at the ‘Rose by any other name’ joke
~ 26:52
I love this please make this into a series!
What a charming puzzle game. Please play more!
I swear, this game is so frickin' creative.
I would literally love to see a series on it.
Glad you're trying this little game found it one day tried the demo and bought it on the switch online store
Wow, I wasn't planning to watch this series, but after watching I think I definitely will.
Ooh, I’ve played this one. Decent mechanics, but it does get repetitive after a while. Worth checking out though, pretty solid
This is good to rewatch
(15:15) It's probably not only this island that send off people at 15. Would make sense if these are a people living in a shifting archipelago and send their kids out to other islands when they are ready to live.
I think I'll be enjoying this game immensely, nothing like wholesome art and stories with some puzzles
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!
This is entertaining, please keep playing it
Haven’t finished the video but part of me is honestly a little upset that Shianan just did a total 180 the minute she appeared. I was hoping they’d explore the theme of not all traditions being good and finding your own way rather than relying on peer pressure from dead people.
I mean, they still could have had her go, it’s kinda necessary to get off tutorial island, but she made some really good points and then just completely went back on them immediately.
She clearly cares a lot about her family, as she expressed literally minutes before, and then she seems so excited to leave them with no real reason given for the change. Like sure she has a friend now, but I don’t think someone you met literal minutes ago can just replace your loved ones like that.
Fantastic video!!!
12:45 there's something sweet about this new freind asking you for some dirt and you as an island god rip apart a tectonic plate for her and just can't figure out how the bag can hold it
I've actually played myself but I'm bad at puzzle games and wasnt able to get to the end, even with a guide (it wasnt worded well). Hope to see you finish it!
I think I recommended this amazing game a few months ago. Glad you're playing it!
Looking back it was 10 months ago lol
Congrats!
I was wondering the same thing - how are there still people on this island if they all leave once they're 15? I found my answer at 7:40 - I think they just settle wherever they arrive and that becomes their home island and their children do the same thing. Makes me wonder what happens to a 15 year old kid whose new island turns out to have no people.
15:49 two young girls attacked by squid a dcene in every wholesome game ever
"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" is a popular reference to William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. Nicely done game. 26:50
Every time he passes a bush, I keep expecting him to stop and collect the berries. Don't Starve habits die hard, I guess.
I like this game, can't wait to see more.
my understanding is, the tradition is carried on to the next island as well.
so the people here now left their home island at 15 and arrived here
14:37
This reminds me of the board game carcasonne, also very fun :D
The parents are at the tutorial island because that is the island they landed at after their coming of age - I’m assuming that it :)
Feed the algorithm! Also, love this game! Might have to pick it up!
16:44 I was expecting you to make a Baba Is You reference lol.
Ha! Another game I must try!! Unfortunately i have to watch the rest of your vids on it later so i dont get spoiled, but I'll still give the views and likes after!
I have played this and my favourite moment that is in the video is 15:46 because when I was playing with my sister and when the picture was on screen I said “GET OF THE PADDLE” in a slightly robot mixed with a western voice and we still joke about it today
Got to love midnight upload times.
this game is awesome!
Very cool game
3:09 "you'll have to do" when you played to much inscryption
I wonder what the whole map moving mechanic looks like to the local inhabitants. Like one day, you cross the creek to do some whatever, and at the end of the day you turn around and suddenly your house is miles away and you have no idea what direction is north.
ah i watch a lot of tyler but this brings back some nice polybridge vibes, :) good times
Great video 👍
This is hype
This game looks great, maybe I'll get it
The "Rose by any other name" line was subtle, I liked it
I think you should try A little Golf Journey, it’s not a hard game but if you try to go for all the stars, it almost becomes a puzzle because of the limited shots you have, plus there are a bunch of secrets, right up your alley
"My sheep have run amok! Can you help me find them"
-Greg the Garlic Farmer
I keep seeing this on gamepass, might grab it
MORE. Big monsters expedition vibes
By what it seems like, a new island means new people and culture.. thats cool
The island may be part of a set of two or more archipelagos, each one neighboring a big circular water current. Whenever they set sail, they end up in the current, and get moved over to a random island in the next archipelago. Then, at the end of the line, people end up back at the first one. That’s how there are still people, how it seems common for them to have been born in a different tribe, etc
26:40 You dirty, dirty old bastard "exchanging seeds" :P
“Another sheep! What do you have to say?”
Stares at screen for a second
“Riveting”
Legend of Mana also has a feature where you unlock pieces to build a world, although not quite like this game.
Wow, you are a god!
this is epic wow
0:10 Continuity is an old flash game with a very simular gimic
If you’re still into tower defense games, I recommend Radiant Defense. I think it’s pretty fun and has some rather difficult levels
bringing world building to a whole new meaning
I love this game played it 3 times 12 out of 10
Goddamn, I wish I could bring my local supermarket across the road and then just stick it out in the middle of the ocean when I don't need it.
where do you find all of those amazing games??
The best part about your content is that you play games that no other CZcamsr would. Keep it up :)
Edit: I am not talking trash about other CZcamsrs.
Fr tho. Who else would do a Tameysi play through for 6+ episodes?
Oh an upload
Highlight of my day
Those sheep are such wonderful poets.
There's a game called passenger? Civilian? something like that and you basically play as the guy (or girl) from warning or informational signage and you go through the game manipulating the level layout to progress. I don't know much about it, but i know it has a speedun community and may be your type of puzzle game? just what you said at the beginning of the video made me think of it
Wasn't this a dungeon in LoZ Skyward Sword?
I like it when someone takes a gimmick and manages to pull-off an entire game of of it! :)
I think this is more story than puzzle so I'm going to buy it and play it myself instead. Think I'll enjoy that more
