    Adam had a gun that one shots the Varia Suit rendering Samus helpless. No one seems to notice or care that this man has the most efficient gun on the face of the known universe. Instead they would rather focus on Samus showing emotion for some reason. Why aren't the pirates after that tech? That would solve all their problems.

    I think I'm the one of the few who isn't bothered by Samus's emotional state, her friends are literally dying all around her. She even got upset in Corruption over the deaths of the hunters. Even I died a little inside when Rundas got the axe. And Ridley...if that thing had popped up in front of me, I'd have wet my pants. Adam is kind of a dick, though, he was abusing his power over the mission, I didn't like him. But, I think Samus got emotional because she's human, not because she's a woman.

    • @snikrit
      @snikrit Před 9 lety +2

      Soma Raid My reasoning is along the lines of personality, but not because she acquired one. Samus already was defined by her actions and as the Prime series had shown, she already had a quite compelling character, even if silent. Surely Zelda fans would argue that Link has a good personality and characterization, although I cannot say any speaking role he had did him any good (looking at you Zelda cartoon). I was all for Samus before, but this weak, sniveling, subservient and terrible character should not be Samus. Even if the old Samus had no personality it would still be better. Frankly, this game was offensive to characterization of Samus we had seen beforehand. Honestly, if this is the future of what was once gaming's strongest female character, I sincerely hope as a fan, that they do not make another Metroid game.

    • @somaraid
      @somaraid Před 9 lety +3

      snikrit Well..what if the old samus was just like this one and you just thought differently..even tho she is a strong warrior on the outside..she is just human on the inside and loosing somebody you are very close to is a strong shock for everybody..even space bounty hunters for that....also what has this to do with women not being able to play game?

    • @snikrit
      @snikrit Před 9 lety +2

      I said nothing in regards to women not being able to play a game, and was simply talking to the fact that games that do not ignore their female players or even make strong attempts to appeal to women just really do not exist (or are functionally rare enough not too).
      I will admit, I personally prefer a more Master Chief like Samus, as that is an incredibly rare female character type, and I see no reason for it to be bound (almost) exclusively to male characters. I would not have problems with a more human Samus if it was at all relatable or believable, however the execution in Other M in this regard is so poor, that I personally find it offensive to a character who has had such an long history of being a strong independent badass. In the end the story of this game just turned Samus into a weak willed, battered person syndrome (beaten wife syndrome) analogue.
      Besides, How many times has Ridley died up to this point? I simply don't buy into the PTSD argument, unless they retcon the entire history of the character's in game actions. The game is just too inconsistent with the character in every other portrayal, its not the Samus we had before, and there was nothing wrong with her that way.

    To the people going on about Metroids being unfreezable in other games, those are different types of Metroids. The Bottleship was designed to mimic Zebes and as such ZEBESIAN Metroids, the ones that only die from being frozen and shot by missiles afterwards pretty much, are the ones being dealt with here.
    And before anyone blurts out "but Adam froze it!", he theorized it was vulnerable due to it being an infant. Since he didn't just come right back out of Sector 0 after freezing an adult one, it's pretty clear that the Zebesian Metroids in Other M have had their freezing weakness removed, making them pretty much unstoppable death machines short of a chunk of a space station exploding to kill them.
    As for not getting to go through Sector 0, I thought it was perfectly reasonable NOT to go into it. I mean it's essentially fucking suicide to do so if Zebesian Metroids have had their ice weakness removed.

    I just realised that Metroids 25th Anniversary was in 2011 along with The Legend of Zelda, and Nintendo didn't do shit. All they did was give Samus a voice. Whoopee.
    The Legend of Zelda got a symphony, a prequel, and other shit.
    Just really fucking nice Nintendo, once again you focus only on the money making series.

    They're inside something (Adam: Sector Zero, Ian: Drive Unit), it detaches, and then it explodes. Reason? To pay the price of salvation.

    (post 3) Sry bout that, my phone accidentally posted before I wanted to. Anyhow, I believe he meant that a) human weapons at the time wouldn't work (or weapons fitted for a human, in the case of Samus) and they would need a bigger "bang", and/or b) all of the Metroids in that section were still killable, but only because they were still in their infancy, so they still needed to be wiped out FAST. And if the hatch doors remain locked, how could Adam jump out? Especially if their reinforced?

    He explodes as well in Prime 3, and that was the latest Meroid game untill Other M. And only because he might survived Super Metroid, doesn't mean that Samus knows this. He exploded right before her. And nevermind that there was plethora of time for the Space Pirates to collect his leftovers and resurrect him elsewhere. Oh and we are talking about the game that told an entire story without one word, do you think that it wouldn't be able to show that Ridley would be alive, if that is important.

    3. You say that weapons tech at the time wouldn't sufficiently damage the sector to destroy it. However, as Other M is after Corruption, gunship missiles do exist. Given that Samus retained almost all of her upgrades (but refrained from using them), I'd be surprised she would not have the gunship missiles. And remember the missiles were able to take out Leviathan shields, while the GF could no. The missiles should be able to damage the sector no matter how well-protected it is.

    Samus also discovered on her journey that Zebesians are cloned on the BOTTLE SHIP. And that there's a manipulative creature onboard that looks like ridley without wings. Hmmm, I guess someone like a smart bounty hunter would be able to put 1 and 1 together. What is Samus's job again?

    Just listen to her, when shes actually talking on screen, like, in this video. You can't tell me she's emotionless or talks like a little girl.
    And don't tell me you really think Team Ninja had anything to do with the story, script or cutscenes.
    Samus doesn't behave weak in other M, she's actually really strong.

    You have to play Metroid 3 to understand that part.But well the thing is when a Metroid is in its adult form, is way bigger, than that "little infant metroid". Look for the end of Metroid 3 in youtube, and you will see.

    @AlphaWolf428 on the other hand this game DID come onto the stage with the whole METROID thing in big letters on the cover, so maybe i should hold it to higher standards i DID do so to all the other metroid games and i still enjoyed them even in comparison to tsuper metroid. as a GAME other m isn't bad it does have some appeal if you keep a pair of ear plugs handy for whenever dopple-samus decides to start talking, but as a METROID GAME its horrendous. i think that's fair.

    You think he didn't know that? I'm sure Adam knows mostly everything about her, even her armor, after all, her armor is so powerful, the Federation -tries- to copy it.
    If Adam let her go in, that would have been horrible, there's no need to give her that chance. That was to show that she cant do everything, she is just another person, not a killing machine.
    While I believe everything makes sense, they could have made it easier for others who just cant understand as well.
