I gotta say Emma D'arcy has been killing it for me. The expressions and mannerisms when Jace returned and you could very easily tell Rhaenyra was pissed and not hiding it very well, but trying to nonetheless
Yeah, I thought he was a lionized Rogue Prince who instilled reverence and fear in people in equal amounts. I much preferred his character in season 1. Is he this incompetent in the book?

@@suhin74 it’s from the perspective of a few different people. Munkin,Orwyle,Eustace,and Mushroom. Not all of them green supporters. Mushroom and Orwyle are the only two who would’ve been close enough to somewhat accurately give a true account. Mushroom’s accounts are often salacious but he’s with Rhaenyra most of the dance and orwyle advocated for an honorable peace but was later tortured under Rhaenyra so you can’t really blame him for being biased but he did go on to serve Aegon III before his execution. It’s up to the readers to draw their own conclusions about certain events with the truth probably somewhere in the middle of his and Mushrooms testimony.

I've developed such a love hate appreciation for the sound design team. Jaehaerys' death, the dragons, the maesters tending to Aegon...just gut wrenching sounds.
I have never felt as bad for a character in this show as I have for Lord Corlys Velaryon. His his daughter, his son (who may as well be dead), his brother, and now his beloved wife. Steve Toussaint better get a damn Emmy or BAFTA nomination for this show!
@@jay-1800 it's important to remember they were likely married for purely political reasons. it probably took a long time for them to develop sincere feelings for one another. that said, yeah, corlys does suck in some ways! he's a flawed person. doesn't mean he didn't come to genuinely love rhaenys though. and i'm sure the fact that rhaenys discovered his infidelity before she died will play on his conscience a fair bit. (also, as westeros is a deeply patriarchal society, it's often fairly lax toward adultery by men. so it's realistic that a powerful lord like corlys would take advantage of that, sadly)
There is a lot more inter-faction conflict in the show than there is in the books. The Daemon v Rhaenyra and Aegon v Aemond v Alicent conflicts are largely a show creation and I'm quite enjoying them.
I can understand Lady Arryn being p!ssed about not being sent a decent-sized dragon for protection....2 babies cant protect anything and wont be able to for years! She specified she wanted protection and they sent her basically nothing....🙄

I loved seeing Jace and Baela step up this episode. Baela's conversation with Corlys was my favorite this episode. Daemon's fuck ups just keep adding up.
What I love about this show is the IRONIC... Women are shown to be POWERFUL in this episode.. With Baela taking the lead in dealing with Jace and her Grandfather, ALYS rivers leading Daemon by the nose, Jeyne Arryn running the VALE, and the Frey wife doing the negotiations for House Frey but when Alicent makes a bid to lead men and Rhaenerya asserts her authority they are shut down or condescending .. lol.. its kinda funny
The smallfolk knew that a dragon war is gonna get reaaal big and bloody and tried to leave 😭 Since they heard prince aemond is giving the orders, maybe they shouldve let queen alicent/helaena give the orders maybe it wouldve soothed their worries a little bit? That the king is not dying?

Harry is killing it as Jace. He’s become one of my favorite characters! Season 1, you can see that he really wants to become a good King - and this season who see him step into his own. I just love his characterization so much. The last scene with him and Rhae strategizing was great. Rhae treats her kids as people and values their thoughts - or at least tries to. Ugh, the Gullet is going to end me. Great scene between Corlys and Baela. I know Jace was the one to convince Cor in the books, but I think it was a nice touch to have grandfather and granddaughter work through some feelings regarding the lost of a wife and grandmother.
You guys, Rhaenyra and Jace have to be talking about the blacksmith dude with the sick daughter. Why else would they keep showing him? Also whatever happened to the guy in the pub claiming to be related to Viscerys, was that the same guy? It has to be one of these random guys. And I'm thinking Corlys' bastard sons might be able to ride a dragon? One of them kept seeing the sad dragon flying around.
There are four "possibles" we have seen in the show. Ulf the White {maybe "Grey", bad memory} Hugh Hammer Alyn {"Sea Son" of Corlys} Adam {"Sea Son" of Corlys} And three of them {at least} were seen in the same episode doing food related activities Ulf stole a piece of food out of a basket as he walked down the street Hugh and his wife discussed how expensive food was while eating a meal Adam was crabbing when he saw Seasmoke flying overhead I may have missed Alyn doing something "foody". I need to re-watch Seasmoke MAY have been assessing Adam.

Crispy Cole was not unconscious when aegon went down,he was riding to see how he was when Vhagar crashed to the ground,knocking him off his horse and unconscious,he saw what happened but he will not drop Almond in it.

Aemond officialy becomes the main villain. Daemon gets comeuppance for his sins. Rhenyra and Jace get creative. Corlys finnaly sees things Rhenyses way but gets rejected. Alfred getting to do something relevant. (He sells Rhenyra out to Larys and Aegon 2 in the book) Elinda going undercover. Curse of Harreanhall gets ever freakier.
It is disgusting they take Daemon who lost his mother before he was 3 and made him have a sick vision of her. He has NO memory of her. The Greens are bloody idiots to show the corpse of the Red Queen like this. Making the Targaryens seem weaker. Idiots.
the thing people forge is Rhaenyra was never a warrior, she was never educated about war, and even after going to DragonStone she never spend her time learning military strategy, She knows zero about war, yes maybe the lords don't have "practical" knowledge, but they at least are educated and trained on the theory. Rhaenyra is a diplomat she know how to make peace not war, But she has a big ego, she wants to do everything herself, she forget why she has a council, she has a council so they can give her the expertise she lacks, but she keep ignoring her advisers

I feel what could be such an amazing scene is this. After hearing his mother talk about her regretting never given a chance to learn sword fighting because of how she was raised the political training over a sword. Once he heard this Jace walks over bringing a sword and giving in t9 the queen. He begins teaching her the basics. Seeing Queen and her Prince sword practice there with the Ancient dragon skull Maraxies in the background. TBH getting to see Queen Rhaenyra dressed in some armor with her chosen sword freshly made from the ancient furnace and blacksmiths. Even better is if we see Sirax use her dragon flame to ignite the wood.

I really hate the direction for Daemon, he is terrible yes, but the one redeeming quality he had was his love and loyalty to his family, those he loved. It’s annoying that they’ve even denied him that.

As a firefighter who barely missed cooking and almost lost two good friends to being cooked, that armor removal scene was the hardest scene so far in the entire franchise. I'm still shook.

This season has been good all around to me. I kinda cried with the head being dragged through the streets. I also liked the sudden hints and nods to things, like the hour of the wolf and who's gonna ride the unclaimed dragons. It's gonna get so good

They obviously are important. Given the final scene of the episode, I have a feeling they are part of these bloodlines that have fallen through the cracks and are going to become Dragon riders. oooo you might be right (i also haven't read the books or anything) it's a long shot but while the blacksmith family was pushing through the crowd trying to get out and we only saw the backs of their heads, I saw Mr. Blacksmith's weirdly blonde hair and thought it was white for a minute and I was like "who is this??" and then I realized again, very long shot but not impossible imo the self-indulgent part of me is also wondering if Alyn will get a dragon 👀
They aren’t introducing a man claiming to be a dragon seed,a blacksmith with silvery hair,and Adam who’s getting screen time with Seasmoke for nothing. Also the blacks constantly mentioning they’re not short on dragons but riders. With the scene at the end of the episode it’s really just the logical conclusion
I think these first 14 episodes of the show covered ground pretty fast in order to get to Rook's Rest. Now that the war is starting, they won't really have to do as many time jumps.

Rhaenys would have died even without the explosion. Meleys was dead. She could not do what Sunfyre did and turn over. She landed on her back. Rhaenys would have been crushed, even without the Dragonfire explosion.

I was trying to think of how they were going to use the guys that aren't direct Targaryen's since they officially brought them into the story. They answered my question this episode
I think Damon's and Viserys' bastard brother is (1). The Smithy with the sick daughter could be (2) look at his hair, Corlys' bastard son Adam (Lenore's dragon intrigued him on the beach while he was searching for crabs), and Seasmoke needs a new rider so he would be (3). This way his Brother Alyn can be the heir of Driftmark because he has always been on the ships - Alyn is Salt and Sea. He saved Corlys from drowning. Not to mention anyone else who could be around. I think they just need to have Valeryion blood to ride a dragon.
It’s more like they view each other as very similar in that they both want more than what is deemed acceptable for them. Daemon has always seen her as very much closer alike to him than anyone else in the family meanwhile Rhaenyra viewed him as a role model of how to get what you want by doing it yourself. This drew them closer together, they love each other in their own strange way, while also wanting what each other has. Rhaenyra wants to be viewed like Daemon and wants to be respected by males, and Daemon wants to be respected as a monarch like he perceives Rhaenyra to be. It makes them jealous of each other while also loving each other out of appreciation that nobody else in the family is suitable for them.

There is more than one way to win a war for sure.... I am so glad that White Worm is on Rhaenerys side. I really think she will be a great help in the upcoming battle with her network of spies. It's too bad that a dragon rider can only bond and ride with one dragon. I wish that Rhaenys could've received a warrior burial/funeral and that they would've taken at least 2 seconds to honor her.... Daemon's whole storyline this season really confuses me. I hope they tell us what's really going on with him or that he helps with the war before the season ends. Baela's speech to her grandsire was so good. She has really matured. I think that Jacaerys and Beala will make for a loving marriage just like her grandparents.
70 out of 100 of the viewers are watching for Daemon story anyway. Yeah I know they are trying to make him dirty but eventually they need to act on books.

Its really easy to see how bad a king Daemon would be. When he had power during Viserys time he didn't maintain or grow it into anything lasting. When given a task he puts his emotions and ideas ahead of the goal. He seeks validation when all he does is commit treachery such as killing his wife or Aegons kid. O

He is the fucking Daemon Targaryen, While four riverland lords are insulting him, he keeps silent and puts his hand on his head, I can't understand whether they are trying to ruin the series or just make the audience angry.

Harry is killing it as Jace. He’s become one of my favorite characters! Season 1, you can see that he really wants to become a good King - and this season who see him step into his own. I just love his characterization so much. The last scene with him and Rhae strategizing was great. Rhae treats her kids as people and values their thoughts - or at least tries to. Ugh, the Gullet is going to end me.
Great scene between Corlys and Baela. I know Jace was the one to convince Cor in the books, but I think it was a nice touch to have grandfather and granddaughter work through some feelings regarding the lost of a wife and grandmother.
I haven't read the books, but I'm guessing the armorer hair-guy is going to be a distant Targaryen. His hair gives it away.
This is a solid character episode with great drama and performances. Love seeing Jacaerys in action as well.

You guys, Rhaenyra and Jace have to be talking about the blacksmith dude with the sick daughter. Why else would they keep showing him? Also whatever happened to the guy in the pub claiming to be related to Viscerys, was that the same guy? It has to be one of these random guys. And I'm thinking Corlys' bastard sons might be able to ride a dragon? One of them kept seeing the sad dragon flying around.

the thing people forge is Rhaenyra was never a warrior, she was never educated about war, and even after going to DragonStone she never spend her time learning military strategy, She knows zero about war, yes maybe the lords don't have "practical" knowledge, but they at least are educated and trained on the theory. Rhaenyra is a diplomat she know how to make peace not war, But she has a big ego, she wants to do everything herself, she forget why she has a council, she has a council so they can give her the expertise she lacks, but she keep ignoring her advisers

I feel what could be such an amazing scene is this. After hearing his mother talk about her regretting never given a chance to learn sword fighting because of how she was raised the political training over a sword. Once he heard this Jace walks over bringing a sword and giving in t9 the queen. He begins teaching her the basics. Seeing Queen and her Prince sword practice there with the Ancient dragon skull Maraxies in the background. TBH getting to see Queen Rhaenyra dressed in some armor with her chosen sword freshly made from the ancient furnace and blacksmiths. Even better is if we see Sirax use her dragon flame to ignite the wood.
Looks like we finally may get to see Vermithor and Silverwing soon, the dragons of King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne.

I really hate the direction for Daemon, he is terrible yes, but the one redeeming quality he had was his love and loyalty to his family, those he loved. It’s annoying that they’ve even denied him that.

I loved this episode, quiet but really informative. Thought aegon didn’t look as bad as I was expecting.
Yeah, compared to how they described him in the book... I thought it would have been great to talk about how his armour was melted onto his body.
As a firefighter who barely missed cooking and almost lost two good friends to being cooked, that armor removal scene was the hardest scene so far in the entire franchise.

They aren’t introducing a man claiming to be a dragon seed,a blacksmith with silvery hair,and Adam who’s getting screen time with Seasmoke for nothing. Also the blacks constantly mentioning they’re not short on dragons but riders. With the scene at the end of the episode it’s really just the logical conclusion

I think Damon's and Viserys' bastard brother is (1). The Smithy with the sick daughter could be (2) look at his hair, Corlys' bastard son Adam (Lenore's dragon intrigued him on the beach while he was searching for crabs), and Seasmoke needs a new rider so he would be (3). This way his Brother Alyn can be the heir of Driftmark because he has always been on the ships - Alyn is Salt and Sea. He saved Corlys from drowning. Not to mention anyone else who could be around. I think they just need to have Valeryion blood to ride a dragon.
You guys are S tier when it comes to upload time. I really think it sets you apart from the other channels in a great way too. Kudos to your team!

Slow episode but I’m glad we’re developing more of the characters we needed a bit of a break after the chaos of last episode.

Daemon and rhanenyra have always been toxic and he has always resented her.
I don't think he resents her. More like jealous.
It’s more like they view each other as very similar in that they both want more than what is deemed acceptable for them. Daemon has always seen her as very much closer alike to him than anyone else in the family meanwhile Rhaenyra viewed him as a role model of how to get what you want by doing it yourself.
This drew them closer together, they love each other in their own strange way, while also wanting what each other has. Rhaenyra wants to be viewed like Daemon and wants to be respected by males, and Daemon wants to be respected as a monarch like he perceives Rhaenyra to be.
It makes them jealous of each other while also loving each other out of appreciation that nobody else in the family is suitable for them.
If I had been Daemon, I would have torched them for waking me up just to yell at him.

There is more than one way to win a war for sure.... I am so glad that White Worm is on Rhaenerys side. I really think she will be a great help in the upcoming battle with her network of spies. It's too bad that a dragon rider can only bond and ride with one dragon. I wish that Rhaenys could've received a warrior burial/funeral and that they would've taken at least 2 seconds to honor her.... Daemon's whole storyline this season really confuses me. I hope they tell us what's really going on with him or that he helps with the war before the season ends. Baela's speech to her grandsire was so good. She has really matured. I think that Jacaerys and Beala will make for a loving marriage just like her grandparents.

Its really easy to see how bad a king Daemon would be. When he had power during Viserys time he didn't maintain or grow it into anything lasting. When given a task he puts his emotions and ideas ahead of the goal. He seeks validation when all he does is commit treachery such as killing his wife or Aegons kid. O
