Great info, Marv! Thank you brother 💯👊🏾
Just about to open my shop back up after moving to a new location, tips really helped.
Keep up the work bruh 💈💎💈💎💈
Everything you touch on is absolutely true. One of the first shops I worked in when I first got in the industry I ended up paying $400 a week and booth rent. But what I walked away with was anywhere from $1100-$1500 per week. And the haircuts back then were $18-$20 per haircut. So yes sir you’re touching on some good stuff this stuff is real and thank you for always keeping it top-notch
Where did you work 🤨
Great Explanation!
Perfect explanation 👌
I rock wit this 💯🙏🏼
Well done 👍
I am definitely agree with you Marv, but unfortunately someone can not force the commission system when they don't have a heavy walking traffic at the place where is located.
so you pay rent and hardly get any walk ins. so whats the point, unless you are doing appts only then rent makes sense
I'm in the process of looking for a shop to move to because the shop I'm at now does not have the walk in flow it once had. I have a clientele but i worry about if my people will follow me to that location because my last location is more convenient. I'm trying to build my clientele up more now but the shop isn't noticeable how it once was. i pay 200 a week but its not adding up how it needs to so thats why im looking for a new space but i would have for sure went with the commission base if it comes with the opportunity to make more money
How do you know your last location is more convenient? It could actually be closer to where a lot of your clients live
Worked at a shop that charged commission, had a barber causing issues with other barbers, toilet seat broken for the entire time and before I arrived, no perks to the commission. Had to buy all my supplies and the owner got mad that when I left I took my clients with me that I built while working there.
I been on booth rent paying 250$ only doing 3-5 haircuts a day I haven’t made nothing in 5 weeks it’s a slow slop and the owner picks and choose who’s percentage or booth rent
Facts
Start 60/40 if your riding the shop clients. If the owner is cool and wants to keep you then go on rent.
You and the owner will know. Both have to be in a good place and trust me it's better to push yourself early on and get on rent because you may pay a cheaper rent if the shop is new or... if you are the owners right hand. If the owner does not work there... idk.. but most likely he or she will. Yes i have had female barber bosses before. The question is when both of you are at a win win... 500$ a week but no rent... yet rent and responsibilities equal to income relevant. So here is my question as an owner. If a barber has 24/7 with key.. what is a fair rent?? Let's say they do 5 days. 1500$ average
@barbermike this is what I mean.
