My experience with all of the time we have spent there was very good so now we are pensioair and are serious about buying there in maybe 2025 to spend part of the year there to avoid cold weather, and us politicians BS just want to get away from all of the craziness!

All a pipe dream, the corruption, lack of accountability , low standards and quality of infrastructure , high cost of living, serious delays because of bureaucracy , inflated costs , are serious hindrances to any dream plan. Take a step forward for Panama to learn from countries that are already way ahead in tourism, it's not just about building hotels, or a supply of beds, it's much about services from the heart, feel the vibes and warmth of the nation , to welcome guests in more than one language , to feel relaxed and reinvigorated and wanting to return. Go study Singapore, Thailand, Fiji, and learn the culture of tourism, I have traveled all over Panama, I did not feel the culture. It will not be easy, you have a lot to do, but at least the thought is there. Make it a goal, put a date to work on, visitors and tourists want to feel your love and care, beyond just the beds. dreaming is not going to make it happen. I present constructive criticism , hopefully you find it helpful, if you are serious about your dreams.
When you traveled all thru Panama if you wanted to feel the culture, I would suggest you stay for a while and get to know the people. Then you will know the culture of Panama. Yes, they take a while to implement their plans but I have been there thru 3 different administrations in 3 different political parties, and all have stayed consistent on growing the same vision for the country.
Until they change the laws to prevent title theft by natives, ousting or stealing land form foreigners, I wouldn't buy a taco there.
Thank you for sharing your concerns. Property rights and security are incredibly important. While I know title theft has happened here, luckily it doesn’t happen often and as long as the buyer is represented by a reputable and knowledgeable attorney it can easily be prevented.
There isn't much to do in Panama. Mexico, Colombia are awesome!
I really cannot think of an activity that can't be done in Panama. And I have lived in All 3 of those Countries.
Thanks for the update Beth however like "all" politicians, the president didn't tell us how he plans to pay for it. The canal traffic is down 40% or more, Panama (stupidly) shut down the copper mine that was going to generate $375 million per year. Everyone gets pumped when new leadership is electednto office and then reality strikes! How about we ask the president to treat tourists and expats "equally" !!! I live here, love it, but lots of work to be done.

Already in his first week in office he has opened up an environmental study to lead a way to reopen the Copper mine. He knows the Country needs that revenue to boost it's GDP to get things accomplished during his 5 year term. The protest of the mine was politically motivated last year and with hard facts you will see him get the public back on board. Most of the Panameno's that I know even during the protests were in favor of the mine continuing to operate. It will be a big win if he gets that done during his first year in office so these other shovel ready projects can be funded.
