I left oakland in 1998 because my childhood friend got murdered and i was implimented in it. I was cleared but that still left a scar. Came back some years later 2016 to take care of some family stuff and me and my child got stuck in a shootout and my 7yr old son watched a guy get gunned down like the old west.. Actually two ppl got shot.

There was no mention of what happened to the gardener, what happened with the burglary, if the neighbors were robbed, if the neighbors were injured, or any description of the suspect(s). (Also, if you don't want your last name used but you allow your home to be in the video, and your face, your wife, your daughter, and your car, I'd say this was a precaution that wasn't necessary.)

I grew up across the street from where this was filmed and as a kid I remember a stray bullet shooting through our living room window. My family and I were on the other end of the room watching tv and thankfully no on was hurt. This was traumatic as a kid. Sorry things haven't changed.

I’m thankful my family moved to sacramento before I was born. The bay is falling apart and it’s so sad to see. All my neighbors besides one are from sf and Oakland / east bay. Idk how the leaders don’t think this is a massive issue

This is commonplace in Oakland. It's a culture thing. People throughout California vote for Restorative Justice polices. Whether it's reparations, non-incarceration, re-distribution of wealth, sanctuary laws, etc . . . the collective belief is that laws have been enacted by the white majority over the prior century has hampered and directly mistreated people-of-color. With enough time, Restorative Justice policies will result in fairness. Personal achievement and outcome of gain will be even across the board. The side effect of Restorative Justice is that lazy people will simply take advantage of the situation. Those people see nothing evil about what they're doing, whether it's shoplifting and killing store employees or street racing and killing other motorists. Shoot bullets at cars and houses? That's just acting out on frustrations of living in an oppressive society - so they reason.

We had at least 6 into our home in Alameda about 18 years ago. The cops said nothing they could do. Contact our insurance company for the damage. This is not a new problem folks.

I just learned recently California legislators passed laws that will not prosecute any minors under 16… no matter how bad the crime is. They get a free pass even for murder.
