- This is the BMW Gina, a BMW concept car that has moving skin. This crazy concept car was arguably the beginning of BMW’s journey of making cars that seem “alive” - like the BMW iX Flow, i Vision Dee and the BMW Vision Next 100. The Gina is almost entirely covered in elastic skin and has a bonnet that splits open to reveal it's V8. Today Sergi shows you why the BMW Gina is one of the coolest concept cars in the world!

i'd call it va-gina the way the hood opens to reveal the engine.
You beat me to it
@@AAA-xc4zm 😂
Eso mismo pensé 😂
Os engenheiros foram criativos... com certeza foi essa a intenção do nome.
Yep. That's definitely why they call it the Gina. It's a hard I.
imagine seeing someone approach your car with a razor blade
Imagine finding out it made of kevlar fabric & you'd need a gun to pierce it!
This car also has an integrated brezn🥨canon
Lol you have to drive faster 🤣
..and then it heals itself and sends out a bolt of electricity..
Prodješ pored žbuna i auto ti ostane na njemu.
Imagine cruising at 100 and the road is filled with tiny sharp rocks 👀👀
Polyurethane is pretty strong performance motor mounts use it that being said I thing it would take a brick through even then. Guess it depends on the thickness of it but little Rock 🪨 will undoubtedly bounce off I'd be more worried bout the cars around it with deflection off the material lol
@@THATDAMSPORTSHOWlol every motor mount uses it. Polyurethane is an extremely popular material.....it's in everything. Paints, plastics, rubbers, deck stain, etc. It has nothing to do with strength 🤦♂️
Yeah, gotta protect the gina. It's sensative
I live in a state where they put gravel down for winter, and with the right durable fabric I could see this being a good thing compared to a paint job, which takes a beating during the snowy months.
@mile_high_topher yeah same actually lol. Just like the oil and chips they do a lot of these back roads with instead of blacktop. It's horror on paint/Clear coat but on fabric it might actually do less damage
This car is mostly only made for design and aerodynamics, it's not a practical daily driver. I love their ingenuity to create such an easy way to look at new body concepts.
The fact that it changes shape is fascinating. But the shape of that opening reminds me of something else.
That's intended. Read the name again "Gina"... BMW Va-Gina xD
15 years later and this concept is still cool
bmw always was valid ever since rolls royce
Until some jackass comes by, takes a knife to it and ruins it. lol
after any accident, no spare part, please purchaee a new car
@@watb8689yeah its def the absolute least practical car ive ever seen. its cool to look at, but its moreso a piece of art than an actual car imo
15 years later and this concept is still a concept...
I used to see this car in the magazines as a kid growing up. I am glad this thing is still rolling around. I would love to have it in my personal collection if I was well-connected enough
I can get it for you, it'll be around 700
@@bl_sonic3288best I can do is about three fiddy
Deal. Bring it to Tulsa OK. The Beachcot Manor. @@bl_sonic3288

ABSOLUTE STUNNER
I remember seeing this car for the first time like 15 years ago and thinking it was the most incredible car I'd ever seen. And it STILL lives up to that today.
BMW is crazy! I didn't actually knew.
Same I saw a video of this car over 10 years ago I think
Imagine getting keyed or worst, knifed
In 2023 this would definitely be a FLOP unless you buy it as a collectible
dayum 15 thats young
The coolest car you would never actually want.
Lies. I want this
@@MoonlightStaticmine
@@MoonlightStatic e46 m3 still looks way better
Old cars in general look better than today's overly glorified toasters on wheels
@@tjtjmich16p ....thats essentially a generational subjective thought process output of an opinion.
I saw the car in person in the BMW Museum in 2016, it's funny to see it out in the open now and nice to see it being given extra love :)
Nice video! Thanks for good content! I like to predict new concepts, so I keep motivated with content like this!
This is an old concept
I expected an alien to pop out of that hood.👽😁
It was called BMW GINA. Remember this from years ago when bmw unveiled this futuristic technology stating it takes around 2hrs or so to fashion the skin around the car. Amazing experimental stuff from back then!
Thanks for posting this! I watched a video on this car about 10 years ago and it wasn’t the best quality but to see this now in broad daylight just shows how unique this concept is.. now my only question is how do you even wash something like that!?
My dirty mind after seeing the hood😂
Love the Gina...shame they never made some version of it...the changeable organic flowing ines are stunning., the opening lights becoming expressive eyes, give a machine an animalistic believable character. If it were fully electric and range limited for city use only it would still be sensational at any pricepoint.
Gina was in BMW Welt at the top floor for quite a while :) They even did public presentations about the concept. It was definitely there 2017-2019 :)
I read about this thing in highschool in a Popular Science magazine. I never thought I'd see it in action.
I remember seeing the car in a magazine back in 2007 it’s nice
It's like a morphing Terminator! Love this shape-shifing tech...bravo BMW!😊
If a rag stretched over a frame looks like a liquid terminator to you, then you need to see a specialist in stupidity.
BMW's designers are absolutely mind-blowing, really challenging the limits!
Pretty old thing
It’s so old lol. Like 15 years ago or more 😂
@Trogidy49 it's still impressive anyways.
Yes, exactly. A completely meaningless design study.
MR CHRIS BANGLE ........IS THE DESIGNER.😉
The “watch this” that kept happening was mad
I remember reading about this in top gear magazine many years ago. It's very interesting and extremely impractical.
this video is insane, the editing quality is so much better, i like the direction the channel is moving in
Wow! That is truly amazing! 🤩🤩🤩
I love BMW. My 08 X5 had those lights that moved like eyeballs. Didnt even realize it until a while after. The lights on this one are badass😍😍
They didn’t have to make the hood open like that 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Pop up headlights can make a comeback with this concept
The front of the car splits open to look just like something I can’t mention the name here
Where your mind revolve around something sexuality everytime, you got issues. So yeah, no need to mention it.
The name.... BMW __gina
A vag!na , right ?
Just say it don't be shy !
@@changsangma1915 lol 😂
They knew exactly what they were doing with that name. Don't let the Weiner mobile anywhere near this.
-How overengineered do you want it to be?
-Yes.
Its all fun and games until a drunk comes by with a knife. This will take keying a car to a whole new level! damn!
This is on next level 😊
Superb content ❤
This channel really has a way of showing us new things we never knew existed. Feel free to comment how not new it is down below in case people missed that from the video.
This thing is not new
@@JackThaRipper To me it is Jack!
Yeah, this was shown a couple of years ago.
@@jesperwall839 okay okay I get it, I'm not only commenting on this video alone but how I realized the channel always got dibs these days from the new Porche, Mercedes Nokia N8 and the Mercedes Space G Wagon, and with most of their other content. Their access is just crazy to me.
So old but still sexy. Used it in présentations an research 14years ago...
Who ever named this car gina, totally knew what he was doing.
The buffalo bill of the super car world
I'd buy it for the looks even without the moving lines.
Amazing videos with amazing cars!❤️
I loved that concept when I saw it in the museum more than 10 years ago
So like, when you wash it..... do you get it dry cleaned?
Looks like a “Gina” when the hood opens
Ikr
After 14 years I still think this is the best BMW Concept ever made
What?
@@channelofchannels341 it's an old concept car and the idea is amazing
This is awesome
so old concept but this was cool, glad to see again
It would be cool if you could review the Renault DeZir concept...has very crazy looking interior.
Gina is a concept car showcased by BMW all around the globe and through social media for years.
This car is beautiful. :)
Saw this car in person when I was 12-ish. I remember being shocked that something like this existed and I couldn’t forget this concept.
There's something uncanny with how the car has its body morph, it's almost as looking at a body horror scene, but it's a car
If they could just spend that energy, making a car reliable
Qué pasada!!! Impresionante, elegante, deportivo, chulo!!!👍
now only if they can make a reliable one, I am sold!
Absolutely sick. I'm about as intrigued as I am weirded out about this new kind of technology.
This car is 15 years old
Literally based on a decade old Z4 bmw this is not new technology bro.
I love my German vehicles, but this one takes the cake! 😂😂😂
the first 14 seconds, i see the inspiration they where going after LOL.
Feels like they should have used THIS car in the Kill Bill films.
the head light design was like Aston Martin never been there before 😂
Aston Martin like this car.
Why can't BMW keep evolving this style of design? If they made this into a "normal" car with a metal body it could easily be one of the best looking cars of the year
Their convertibles like the Z4 essentially taken elements from the Gina.
Of course, that car gotta be super protective😊
Shape-shifting concept on a car has been my dream ever since I was a little child… and now it is possible!!😊
Love BMW. Have owned them for many years because they are sturdy vehicles. Excited to see what ends up in production but I wouldn’t want to be in an accident in one of these. 🤔
Yes, we have seen a tent before!
I love the design ❤ but there's so many moving parts... It's inevitable that the outer skin will fail with that many creases and wrinkles. Still looks cool 😎 but efficiency is my strong suit.
Ahh the Gina, I remember this being unvielved long back when I was a kid. I really thought cars would be like this. Now I'm just disappointed it's not
CLASSIC MODERN MODEL AND FUTURERISTIC AMAZING!!
I saw this model back in the early 2000's, and it immediately became a favorite. Anytime I was asked my sports car of choice? ..the BMW Gina. This car is just sexy
Everyone who reads this, We don't know each other and we probably never will but I wish you all the best in life And the luck in the new world and I wish you all the best for what life has to offer. ❤
Bro anything for likes
Amen
You too
what new world?
Even though Im a scumbag piece of shit human who treats others very poorly so I can inflate my ego?
Wow that's spectacular.. 😻😻😻
seen this years ago, when they presented this concept car...never thought it would be a working car , instead of just a technology demonstrator
The interior looks like an alien spaceship from a 90 sci-fi movie. They should’ve let aliens dative it
Back in 2008, BMW released this concept car Gina, with Lycra replacing body part ❤️
BMW Ini Memiliki Kulit Bergerak yang sangat bagus sekali kawan...😍
“Hey man, can you pop the hood rq?”
*skin peels back*
bmw knew what they were doing with giving the car that name
Sick car yoool
Okay this was definitly way too ahead of its time. Wow, this car really has a true lost tech kinda vibe. Amazing that I will ever say this. I think the colour changing feature probally will get adopted around 2030 for the highest class of BMW's obv and probaly with a simpler version like only certain parts can change for example the colour of some lines.
Yo I thought I saw this thing a couple years ago?🤔 They finally did make it for real! Noicee 👌
People: "Why can't you just be normal?"
BMW: *screaming*
This would NEVER survive an accident.
1 sharp rock on the freeway and all the "skin" gonna tear off 😅
It stands in the BMW museum for ages.
Waking up the headlights is the most intriguing feature for me. As if it is coming alive.
My only question is how do you control it to make the skin move?
Alien 👽 work for BMW💯
I'm more impressed with the windshield, that's sick!
This thing IS alive!
*THE BMW 4SKIN*
You would have to rewrap the entire care with one small cut. Would show easily!
YOOOO!! Imagine this for the enthusiast market...
YOU COULD LITERALLY BUY NEW SKIN FOR YOUR CAR! And have multiple skins to choose from... and it wouldn't take as long as re-wrapping your car you literally just put new skin on it, button it up and done!
THIS IS COOL!
I'd imagine this car being light , so seeing this being able to fly wouldn't be so far off
Ngl looks like a z4 covered up with a cloth and some unique detailing done on it
Bro this is my dream car for reals
Do you need to iron it before every ride?
It reminds of one of those Goodyear blimps.
Imagine acting like polyurethane is some magic new material that hasn’t existed since tupperware
Imagining the cars look would automatically adapt to the drivers face 😂 and even blink the lights synced to the eyes
Reminds me of war robots when you mentioned the name and then said that it can shape shift it just felt like you were announcing a new robot, anyways that's a cool car
- Я сегодня не выйду...
- Почему ?
- Машину ещё погладить надо
Beautiful concept show car. They should have put tension wires under the skin to make more slid and make it slightly more crush proof
