That's an art. He is being honest and a bullshitter. The voting for a woman comment, the same.

That specific thing he said was not actually bullshitting though, most of the money that go to big charities goes to running the charities (paying the peoples paychecks who work for the charity, adds and stuff) and a smaller slice goes to the actual people in need. People don't realize how ineffective those kind of charities are and probably wouldn't donate if they knew 90% of their money isn't going directly to the cause.

There's lists that estimate how much of the money reaches the people who need it, and there's great variation among the bigger charities.
Some of them really do a fantastic job, but Komen is among those that don't funnel much of that money into actually fighting breast cancer.

I replayed that part over and over again, it was so damn good. The art of comedy and trolling combined in one bit.
The fact that it got glossed over is actually evidence of the brilliance. It wouldn't matter where he did the bit, it would have that reaction. Either the people are angry, or in awe.
Bill Burr may be my favorite guest on Conan, mostly because he just makes it his own show and makes Conan the guest.
He does that on pretty much everything he's a guest on. And it's incredible.

first time I hear bill he was instantly my favorite comedian.
"What if I just start punching muffins?" "How many before someone stopped me?" "Would people think I was playing a game?" XD I won't forget when I heard him, I knew he was a man of wisdom.
You're never gonna believe it, but this is the idea behind inviting comedians to talk shows. They come and they do a set, just like in stand-up, except they are sitting down and having a dialogue rather than a monologue. If they are successful, their popularity increases.
He has a point though. A lot of money for raising cancer awareness is wasted, it is not put into cancer research as many donors expect. You have to specifically donate to an organisation that funds the treatment and research and not just spreads awareness.
Raising awareness is just as important as research.
Raising awareness helps catching it early, which means higher chances of successful treatment.
Drawing attention to it is important. However, using the term "raising awareness for breast cancer" rather than "raising money for breast cancer campaigns/research" means they can effectively take all the money for themselves because they are only claiming to draw attention to the cause, not actually help it. Don't assume your money is going to a good cause unless you look into the actual numbers.
enough people are aware...research is far more important. Besides it's not even going to raise awareness, most of the funds goes directly into executive pockets.

What he's basically saying about the breast cancer awareness pink clothes on the NFL is that a very small fraction of the money raised actually goes to help women with cancer. A lot of it goes to the company itself
like most charities, most money does not actually go to the cause....it's a sad world we live in.
That's why you NEVER should give any charity.

Yup,There was a documentary called "Pink Ribbons INC." that was on netflix which basically explained how it was started and how much of a horseshit scam it was... It was taken down right before football season a few years back. If you can find it anywhere It's def worth watching

If you listen to audience reaction on Conan's audience which is pretty much liberal you can see a lot of liberal people don't like what he says. I think you're right in that your aim is to make everyone laugh but in reality it's not really an attainable goal as it's impossible to relate to everybody but Burr does a pretty good job in making liberals more conservative and vice versa
